Malmqky Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Almost like when you ignore the shitty politicans and chronically online trolls, the US is a welcoming, friendly, accepting place for all people. At least much more so than many countries out there....

I wouldn't complain about that, although I do think our government needs to be funded somehow, I'd love to see reduced government spending, but it's pretty obvious that's not going to happen. I feel like we should avoid incentivizing bad behavior (government handouts / a tax system that encourages under the table work) and try to incentivize good behavior (saving/investing/earning more money). Our progressive tax system/income based safety nets create a lot of moral hazard. If I were king, I'd try to create a more balanced tax system. Tax all investment income at the same rate, so lower taxes on cap gains/dividends/interest while increasing the tax on stock buybacks to the same rate. Lower the higher income tax brackets, or just use a flat tax rate. Incorporate a VAT tax (and maybe exclude essential goods/services). Reform entitlement programs so that they serve to help bring people out of poverty instead of keeping them there. Close the huge endowment loophole for avoiding taxation on unrealized capital gains/estate tax (no need for a wealth tax).

Didn’t you travel to Chicago to rub and tug homeless people and eat pizza to prove to Trump that it wasn’t an unsafe shithole lmfao?

I've already done that but you seem incapable of seeing reality. Seek professional help. While we're at it, would you care to regale us with the story of how you went from being a birther to a ladder puller?

I really did enjoy your Rick Steves Travelogue on Chicago, a city I lived in for 20 years and just LOVE. Your stories about how "safe" it was - in spite of 30-40 shootings and usually 5-10 or so deaths every weekend. Do yourself a favor and don't send your daughter or son to those neighborhoods. Just post us your cartoons from your next trip and that will do.

Indeed at one time, the earth was deemed flat and heretics were executed. Rather than put up a coherent argument to me - I suggest you write your detailed thesis and send it off to the Federal Reserve telling them why they are wholly incorrect and that their data is incorrect. I haven't been following this thread for awhile, was in Spain for 5 weeks. Not even sure where your response is coming from, I'll assume it's because I write lazily, it takes too long to actually get somewhere with someone vs tete a tete. I just thought it was funny that people were arguing against you that 10-15 million illegal immigrants in 4 years didn't increase rent/housing prices. Obviously that could only be true insofar as there was housing added in proportion to the the increase in buyers/renters and assuming that we weren't already building to few homes in the first place. It's really pretty simple, would plus 15m people, leave immigrants out of it, or minus 15m people, make a difference in housing prices/rent? For the former, yes it would, except in massive oversupply, and the latter yes it would except in extreme under supply, some areas would be hit more of less than others. There can be a debate about the weighting of it, but that's not really what was being discussed. Anyways, cheers, I'll go away now.

When BOTH prices rise at the same time, the obvious conclusion is STRONG correlation. From a Federal Reserve that Trump has been totally frustrated with. Heavily politicized? Using ACTUAL historical data. You never run out of excuses when faced with facts. Who utilized illegal help more than anyone else in the last 30 years? Lower wages, no recourse to courts or labor laws, etc...your pool boy, your gardener, your fast food worker, your service worker, your carpenter, etc. I'm pretty sure blue collar workers weren't the ones hiring all of the illegals! Cheers!

No one is changing any minds.... for some reason investors prefer parties that want to increase the debt, expand the scope of govt, start more govt programs, because that works, raise taxes and have less control over their lives over time. This surprised me a decade ago but no more. Some survivorship bias going on here. They are from or made money in largely cities/which tend left, they are more social/therefore on a forum, they are from socialist Europe, they are educated into left wing, all their profs were left, idk. Well, I think you have to give him credit for holding to his guns...literally and figuratively! Cubs is a very nice person, just crazy MAGA...I'm pretty sure he's Trump's illegitimate brother. Cubs, do you have a east to west or west to east combover? Cheers!

Somehow another dumb fuck liberal narrative gets exposed as a lie, go figure! The truth is, most countries know their governments and native lands are worse than the U.S. Critics of the U.S. aren't saying that the U.S. is horrible...they are saying that it's current administration is horrible! There's a big difference there. I don't have a problem with you...I have a problem with what Trump is doing often, and his behavior is in sharp contradiction to what I've seen and known of the U.S. in my lifetime. Now you may agree with what Trump is doing...that's fine. It's you country. But getting angry at critics is no different than Canada or Greenland getting pissed at your President for his criticisms or open threats of annexation. Ask yourself how you would feel if Putin or Xi kept threatening the U.S. on a weekly basis if they were far bigger? It isn't just rhetoric when they are ten times your size and their military is 100 times your size! Cheers!

Chicago is not an unsafe shithole. You go to certain areas and yeah it's not as safe...that's no different than any other big city in North America or the world really! Just like drug gangs aren't going to kill every other tourist in Mexico. Washington DC has a higher gun deaths per 100,000 than Chicago...nearly 22 compared to nearly 15. Makes you go "hmmm!" Another MAGA fallacy proven false! Cheers! https://everytownresearch.org/report/city-data/
