U.S. President Donald Trump said he is ending “all trade negotiations” with Canada over an Ontario TV ad with anti-tariff messaging that quoted former Republican president Ronald Reagan. Earlier Thursday night, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute said the ad “misrepresents the ‘Presidential Radio Address to the Nation on Free and Fair Trade’ dated April 25, 1987.” Here is the full, unedited speech from Reagan's 1987 radio address. What do you think?

Haryana, the video I put up is the actual recording.  It's a damning statement by Reagan on how broad or long-term tariffs can do tremendous harm relative to the amount of good.  He has no problem with targeted tariffs alongside negotiations, but the stuff that Trump is pulling is ridiculously dangerous.  We already see that global partners while trying to come to terms with the U.S. are actively seeking new global partners to take up the slack and diversify their relationship with the U.S.  Where there were once bad relations with China, Russia, South America and other parts of Europe and Asia, everyone is scrambling to repair them and increase foreign trade.  Trump's tariffs may work in the short-term, but will do considerable harm if allowed to run for years.  Cheers!

Anybody that still supports this guy needs to have their head examined.

Remember that 77+ million American citizens legally voted for him. Suspect more citizens would vote for him today. Maybe he should run again in 2028? What do you think? That's what kings do. Wait, emperors and kings aren't elected. A landslide victory.

Stock market up 20% YTD with so many here running for the hills in April when fear and anxiety (mental illness) got the best of them. Loved watching it.

DJT was able to close our sovereign border in weeks (previous admin couldn't/wouldn't in four years), and in 9 months arrest thousands of criminals, make peace and trade deals, and generally gets things done. He assembled arguably the best cabinet in decades - business leaders and achievers instead of govt bureaucrats and DEI hires.

But he's a "moron" a "king" an "emperor".  I can only presume it's because he gets things done.

I'll take it compared to four years of a dementia patient in chief, who didn't know where he was (had to be rescued by the easter bunny) and couldn't complete a coherent sentence.

With some here on this board TDS runs very deep.

The voting map vividly demonstrates the divide in this Country and how a few of the most heavily populated, mostly coastal cities try to to dictate policy for the rest of us, who aren't buying it.  One can only wonder how much, and for how long net migration continues to flow from blue precincts.  If democratic leadership had even a half ounce of common sense, they would immediately pivot to the center on most every policy and appoint Sen. John Fetterman as their new leader.  Won't hold my breath.

We shouldn't have presidents serving three terms. IDC if Trump is Jesus himself. Too many slimeballs in politics. Even if you like the idea of Trump serving a third term, you'll end up regretting in down the road when someone you hate gets a third.

We should have term limits for congress and the supreme court too.

And yes, I get Trump is almost certainly going to be too old for a third term and this is more trolling than anything.

Land doesn’t vote, people do but I guess this is what happens when all your information comes from Faux news. Some people too stupid to understand that one small area with a million people means more than a 1000 similarly sized areas with 500 people.

The voting map shown reflects land vs population. Land cant vote. Population votes.  Except of course Senators where Wyoming has the same vote as California and Texas.

No sh-t - did you read my post?  The "land" is being increasingly occupied by folks leaving the "population".  Any wonder why?

That's not what your post said.  Your post said "The voting map vividly demonstrates the divide in this Country and how a few of the most heavily populated, mostly coastal cities try to to dictate policy for the rest of us, who aren't buying it."

And cities are getting bigger as people move from all those rural areas to urban area. That map is going to get even more extreme - and it should because it reflects populations.

People are fleeing big cities.  My neigborhood and town in FL is filled with NYers and Californians.  All started with Covid and hasn't let up.  Policies dictate choices for people who have choices.   Unfortunately, most people in blue cities are stuck there and have to endure policies that slowly degrade them and the cities they live in.

Not according to data.

With NYC and LA having 2 of the 3 largest increase in numbers.

Birth rates?  Inability to leave?  Illegal immigration?  Yeah, don't neglect the details.

The details are that the populations of the top 300+ cities grew as a whole with NYC, Houston and LA being the top 3 by number.  And its why that map will get even more irrelevant.  Voting reflects population not land.

If you want to make voting even more directly reflective of population we should get rid of the electoral college.

The map is SO relevant.  Now that we've got a closed border watch the populations of those cities dwindle.  Open borders were like magnets to those places.  Not anymore.  Those statistics are hindsight and as the old saying goes, past performance does not guarantee future results.

Those statistics are data.  What youre talking about are projections based upon personal anecdotes and desires. Cities have been growing at the expense of rural for hundreds of years and will continue to.  What is more likely to happen is suburbs will continue to grow and expand outward. But the idea that mass quantities of population are going to move to remote rural areas in the center of the country is just not going to happen.

Prior open borders are facts.  Current closed borders are also facts.  Where do you think the illegals that came here went?  To the heartland, LOL?  They're being rounded up in the large cities and deported.  They're no longer allowed in.  Those are facts that have not yet shown up in your data but soon will.

Sounds like "projections' to me.  So they're OK for you?
