EgonKuhn Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I looked at them early January 2025 and found them interesting enough to put them into my watchlist. A month later they run up far away from my target price but now they came back to more reasonable levels. For me the current price despite being better again is still the main hurdle.
Spekulatius Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Has anyone looked at Seven & IHoldings (Seven Eleven- $3382). There was some discussion after ATD Alimentation tried to buy them. Shares have come down quite a bit since then. They are making a massive push to update their locations for better food etc. They also bought the Australian franchise and want to expand it massively. The stock seems cheap at around 12x earnings if you add back amortization. I don’t know if this plan works but it makes sense to me. When we visited Thailand the 7-11 stores actually had decent food and my always hungry son and my wife loved it. The one location had a decent stand with cheap espresso drinks. https://www.7andi.com/en/ir.html I bought a few shares last week. Could be a good buy and forget type of investment. EgonKuhn Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I looked at them two years ago and put them in my "nothing to see here" bin because of the consistently low ROE over the last two decades. Adding back amortization gets them to around 10% ROE. You think they had their wake up call by ATD to operate their asset base better?

They have done some changes for sure like selling of their supermarket chain as well as a bank. So at least there is a Focus on the convenience store business . They also intend to IPO their US business. I think this has a lot of potential if they manage their business with more focus and better.
EgonKuhn Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Thanks @Spekulatius. Looks like the ATD offer triggered some positive change here. Valuation wise it looks good currently, so I will dig deeper and see if I like them enough for a starter position.

I also followed them since reg ATD acquisition offer and wondered what ATD has been seeing. I think 7-11 was under managed and they have underinvested in certain business. THat seems to be changing now. I also noticed a few changes in my area. 7-11 is now displayed on Uber Eats for delivery of confidence store items and they opened a gas station and large boxy store close to my house that seems to be well located (growing neighborhood and good traffic location). Its has been a while since I saw a new 7-11 location anywhere , so this got a bit of my attention since I drive by this place on my way to work. So I take this as anecdotal evidence or positive changes.

Spekulatius Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM Bought a little 368A Kitazato. Zikr overview: Quote Kitazato Corporation researches, develops, manufactures, and markets medical devices and related products for fertility treatment. It offers needles, catheters and cannulas, vitrification media and equipment, sperm processing medium/tools, IVF medium products, micro tools, and labware products. It’s a recent IPO that come down quite a bit and trades cheap . Sector (IVF devices and consumables) is attractive but there seems to be quite a bit of competition and growth has slowed down. I also bought just a little $6637 (Tersaki Elecric ) which is a specialist in ship electronics , control and electrics. I don’t think they have much exposure to defense at this time but fundamentals seems to be quite good anyhow. I also bought a little more $3382 (Seven & I Holdings).
Paarslaars Posted Monday at 05:45 AM Posted Monday at 05:45 AM I bought a position in Nippon Chemical Industries at around 3500 yen a few weeks ago. This is another 'bottleneck AI' position, they make barium titanate which is a dielectric powder used in MLCC's. They also procude high purity red fosfor used in InP wafer production. Second limit up day in two weeks today.
