I thought he did a great job. Let’s remember he is 95. He loves this game. If he finds little things to do here and there - that’s a win. He might get busy soon if/when this private credit ballon pops.

LOL, imagine taking exposure here based on donny's promise that the risk is good. Sure, we'll take a sliver off the end for a gazzilion dollars.

LoLz!,  the way the flags and streamers are fluttering in the wind in @KPOs image posted above is quite symptomatic!

That said, I'm intended to buy more Berkshire next week, - dead serious meant.

Yeah, at initial glance I don’t love it, but I’ll give Ajit and team the benefit of the doubt that it’s structured and priced appropriately given the risk.

My remark was in no way critical of Ajit. Announcing a consortium of reinsurers is not the same as actually underwriting the risk. I fully expect that he'll continue the same underwriting discipline.

The image of Buffett on the Good Ship Berkshire is kind of a funny coincidence though.

AI is so weird. Reminds me of one of those kids puzzles “circle the 10 things wrong with this picture”

Brooks Running is absolutely booming.  I am a huge runner myself - for a long-time Brooks was considered super niche, and not really performance based.  Over the last several years they have really upgraded the product-line, stolen share from Nike, and signed some HUGE athletes (top American runner Clayton Young recently btw).  Ohio Capital recently posted on X, that he thought Brooks was one of Berkshire's best acquisitions ever.

^ Pretty cool thread discussing Berkshire's best and worst investments in MSR

I started getting more serious with running recently and it's pretty cool learning that Berkshire owns a decently sized high performance running shoe company 🏃‍♂️

Next Time You Order a Dairy Queen Blizzard, You May Be Talking to AI

A chatbot is ready to take your order for a Mint Oreo Blizzard with cheesecake pieces and caramel topping.

Dairy Queen began a test with technology company Presto to bring a drive-through chatbot to a handful of its U.S. stores last year, said Kevin Baartman, the company’s executive vice president of information technology.

This week, the Berkshire Hathaway owned restaurant chain is expanding the test to several dozen franchised locations out of its 3,000 U.S. and Canadian drive-throughs.

@gfp,

There is a part of the article and pics, that hurt me the most to observe - but inevitable  : Warren Buffetts geriatric decline - which is also where we all are headed, unless we pass away before - the Highway of Life:

Indeed John, the pics of Warren brought tears of gratitude to my eye.  How lucky were we to have Charlie for 99 and Warren for 95+ years?

Yes, @CanadianMunger ,

Berkshire Hathaway has within the last almost 15 years been instrumental in improving the living conditions of my family.

One layer of generations has passed away, passing on the baton, the next three generations are now Berkshire Hathaway investors!

Abel has spent the past year giving priority to learning Berkshire’s insurance business and visiting with Ajit Jain, the brains behind the operation. Jain is expected to continue heading insurance at Berkshire, though the company has developed a succession plan for him, too. “He’s probably going to be at the company for as long as he can,” Buffett said in an interview.

The word "probably" concerns me a bit. I would have liked better if Buffett used "almost certainly" or something to that effect. Me hoping Jain stays as long as Buffett running insurance at Berkshire. I am also hoping I am reading too much into this.

give me a break ... people are now literally debating the meaning of single words in this article?  Probably vs. Almost Certainly?  If you really think this matters - then you shouldnt own Berkshire.

It's not that...I think it's just a bit of an emotional issue for many shareholders around Buffett, his life and what he's meant to people/shareholders.  You wouldn't be posting on here if I had not met him 25 years ago...that's just a miniscule tidbit in history.  Can you imagine the emotional effect on those whose whole economic circumstances and life he's changed/shaped over the last 70+ years?  Once again, I'm one of them too!

Yup...gratitude...gratitude...gratitude!  All I have for the man and others like him who have influenced me!

Yes...led to Fairfax as well for me.  Changed my life...both those companies and CEO's!  My brother and mother both own Berkshire and Fairfax stock.  My niece and nephew own Fairfax stock because I learned about Berkshire long ago.

I had first heard about Buffett when I was 15 from my friend who read the original Money Masters.  Not sure why he was reading that book at the time, but naturally I didn't really find it that interesting at that age.  Never gave it another thought until I was nearly 29!  I wish I did, and told my father about Buffett...would have changed his life back then as well.  At least we got it right later on!

Cheers!

💯

I echo this terrific comment by @Parsad as a 25+ year shareholder of Berkshire. Warren & Charlie taught me everything I know about business and investing & I am forever grateful to them.

I think this is exactly true. Jain is getting up there but I believe his health will be the limiting factor, not the fun or interest.
