Next few working days before retirement, Buffett is going to walk the office shake people hands, offer to exchange personal Gmail and ask them to connect to his LinkedIn.

Probably also take the Coke fountain dispenser home with him!  Cheers!

Stingy John, John the Cheapskate, just took a look again on the Berkshire Hathaway 2024 parent financials [perhaps that should be in singularis, becuase it's a sort of an one-pager, almost] :

What has happened to the holdco costs? - They seem to have ballooned!  -They are up ~191 percent [[[381-131]/131] in two years [<-!].

Increased frequency of Omaha office parties coupled with rising Coca Cola costs. These were somewhat offset by switching from McDonalds to Dominos pizza, but ultimately, inflation hit soft drinks and snacks hard.

On a serious note : I was personally thinking more in the direction of[ lots of?] fees to advisors, helpers, investment bankers etc. on potential deals, that ended up in a nothing [burger?]? [half now/half later, whatever,  etc.]

I'm assuming they recorded this around the last annual meeting. Amazing to see someone so lively both mentally and physically at 95. The annual meeting is a slog, an entire day of answering questions would drain anyone, but there's no doubt he's still doing good work in the office and is still a huge asset to the company.

You can tell he just isn't having as much fun without Charlie.

Warren Buffett - A LIFE AND LEGACY

After watching this I can't help but wonder how many upper level managers at the wholly owned subs are aligned with Buffett's sense of decency, practicality and generosity (his kids seem to be). He really likes Greg and took a long time to make the choice so I trust that. I do expect change though, and wouldn't be surprised if some of it was unsettling.

On another note, anyone else think the carpet at Farnham Street looks like it's seen better days? Frugality + kindness. Not necessarily a bad combo. The end of an era?

which carpet are you referring to?  The video showed the newly renovated lobby at Blackstone Plaza (formerly Kiewit Plaza), which is on Farnham Street as well as the dinner table at Warren's house, where his kids grew up, which is also on Farnham street?

The gold tone carpet with him and Becky Quick. Maybe it's just the light.
