There is an explanation for why it goes the way of whataboutism. Why should they care about a standard that other side doesn’t keep or care about when it’s their own. For example, Trump pulled through the courts for several years, and then people claiming fascism when some on their side face their day in court too.

This is sort of the conclusion I’ve been reaching too: Maybe I’m being pessimistic. No idea who this tweeter is btw.

It’s been OK to say and do things like to white people for a while though. Part of the reason why there is an uptick in it across the board. Note you didn’t say this to Spek, Greg only. This is the kind of stuff people are fed up with. White guys just have to suck it up because they’re ‘systemically privileged’. Is it any wonder we are seeing the ugly head of actual racism rise on the younger right?

They way I would play PLTR, would be to buy deep OTM puts, and hope for a large correction to come your way. These things don't have to ever be in the money, they just need to way closer to being in the money. They would have to be long-dated. I used this play a few times and it worked out well, but very high risk because there is no intrinsic value as a safety net.

Not nice to be happening to anyone, especially when it is your son.

NYC, New Jersey Governor, Virginia Governor?

For sure it’s been happening a lot, but the BBC think they are above that - they really aren’t and aren’t nearly as reputable as they’re once were.

So much of the arguments from the left start with them pretending to not understand things. Case in point above.

Well you guys continue to take Trump literally. Trump’s a salesman. How many Trump supporters do you think watched 60 minutes or read the CNN article? Separately I laughed at this fact check: He falsely claimed CBS aired an edited interview with Trump’s 2024 opponent Kamala Harris “two days” before the election, though it was actually more than four full weeks before Election Day. Ya, it was aired 4 weeks before the election - nothing at all about the editing - “gotcha”.

MSM in a nutshell, from an organisation that once regarded itself as the best in the world: Long past time to remove the rot.

Bill Gates changing his tone is a good thing. The extreme positions from people in power for the past 10-ish years have been from the climate change crowd. We had mainstream politicians saying it was going to be a catastrophe, it went from climate change, to climate crisis to climate emergency in short order. All just completely nuts. Wonder how much money by governments was shovelled into this.

Can @Gregmaland @Parsad both be right? I think yes. There were quite a number of otherwise healthy people who didn’t have covid, but who had the vaccine, who developed heart issues (for example). When others starting noticing this spike there was denial from the MSM and medics. The establishment rallied around the mantra ‘the vaccine is safe’ and ‘trust the science’. I also feel that dissent was suppressed - not just in the US. However there is also no doubt the vaccine saved a lot of people too. These things have side effects, that’s just the way it is.

Brought to us by the diversity is our strength crowd, which is obviously a load of rubbish. John’s right, really this is a political comment, so I’ll say no more it here. Side note - In Dalal’s defence, he’s talking about economics.

I don't think it is too late, the problem is they aren't doing enough. Most of these people are still the wet wipes that helped cause the malaise. Thinking they will fix it seems very hopeful. We do need a big political change.

Yeh that would be mental. I don't know about the EU becoming a state, in certain areas such as defence I think there should be a European army. However on social issues, and other issues such immigration, it could be a disaster. Merkel severely harmed the EU, if it wasn't for the immigration policies around Syria I don't think Brexit would have happened. And economy and regulations, we obviously can't have policies like they have in germany of taking down nuclear plants.

Why are we cherry picking a handful of cases when the vast majority are not like this. Greencard holders may be there legally but they aren’t citizens and their status can be revoked. They face extra scrutiny because they fall under normal criminal law but also immigration law which is applied differentially. They have fewer constitutional protections than ordinary citizens. I don’t know the case you are talking about, what’s true, what’s exaggeration. However I know that if it was me I’d be on my very best behaviour because I’m a legal guest.

I pay yearly so maybe that’s why I’ve never seen it.

In each of those cases, prove you have a right to stay. I get that, that is the process, I am not arguing against that, but to my knowledge this IS what happens. So everyone says they ‘need due process’ - I agree - a short period of time to provide they are there legally.
-
We don’t have a grace period in the UK for either of these. If you let it expire and something happens your house or car, that’s on you… I’ve never forgot.
-
But Parsad, all they have to do is prove they have a legal right to stay. That is the process. The illegals immigrants by definition don’t have that right. If you applied for asylum and got rejected but decided to stay - you are there illegally. That is a process. If you enter the country without declaring yourself you are also there illegally. You are deported and can present yourself again. Other than proving your have a right to stay, I don’t get what this process is. If it’s just appeal after appeal and hoping for the next president or whatever, that’s deliberate abuse. It’s what’s happening in the UK, the government struggles to deport people because of endless legal challenges.
-
That’s not my point. My point is that getting deported is not inhumane, other countries do FAR worse.
-
If you overstay, and are deported. Reapply. It’s nobodies fault but your own. If you forget, but realise your error, go be honest. Take your medicine. Edit - with birthright that’s for the courts. In most countries being born there is not an automatic right to citizenship. US might actually be unique in that regard.
-
Many illegals immigrants don’t follow the process Parsad, otherwise they’d just leave the country. It’s why ICE are doing what they are doing in the first place. If you apply for asylum and it’s rejected you leave. If you don’t you get booted from the country. If you entered the country illegally, you get deported. That is the process.
-
What do you mean by inhumane treatment. You can be put into jail for years in other countries - is that humane?
