  1. Chances of death are very low but you can still get very sick and incur permanent damage to your lungs or organs. Even if you are healthy. Not just theoretical, I know someone 40ish and healthy and fit that had this happen.  They have lung damage, it's permanent.  They also went through complete hell for 2 weeks. Israel has vaccinated over half their population and haven't reported any issues.  The pharma companies aren't based there so they have no reason to lie about the effectiveness.  I feel at this point it's quite a remote chance the vaccine is more dangerous than covid. Workers in the research centres do have an interest to help foreign pharma look good and collaborate with them. Politicians who have spent public budget on this, do want to win votes (for the elections less a week ago, and the upcoming.). Medical system, which is obligatory, want to show how their ability to give shot is like the best thing ever. Talks have started about opening factories of pharma companies in Israel... Legislation makes it not obligatory to test for those who have taken 2nd shot, tests done by the medical system without impartial supervision, same goes with reporting side effects from the shots they gave, researches bomb the media with their predetermined conclusions... Now, the shots are likely to prove good. Decision in favor is easier to certain people, who are at a greater risk, and risk less by taking it (my parents took it for example. While I opted to declining it, as undoing vaccination is not possible.). But I believe that claiming Israel has no reason to show effectiveness of the vaccine is wrong, and there's very little control over it.
  2. Well, it comes from a covid19 vaccine program. Wouldn't expect the conclusion not to be biased. That being said, I do support such publications (well... just replace should with could) and hope countries will make it possible to vaccinate children, babies and pets, just so people would calm down. And by this reduce the risk of making vaccination obligatory.
  3. 360 Jan 22 (covered) calls on Goldman Sachs.
  4. Notional value of 86% in Goldman Sachs. Thinking of starting to trim / sell covered calls. It was on sale: https://www.cornerofberkshireandfairfax.ca/forum/general-discussion/what-are-you-buying-today/msg401818/#msg401818
  5. Viking, I advise you'd check the recent, and not so recent past of Edelstein before taking his words as anything honest. As for encouraging results for other countries, maybe an addition of tax payers from Israel settling there after finally it eventually opens the borders.
  6. Got a second SMS to schedule a shot, called and demanded that they would stop spamming me. On the other hand, many younger people in Israel stand hours in line to assume major risks. ::)
  7. Happy hour. Closest thing to injecting disinfectants. :) Would also look for a flight to Spain/Portugal before Septembre if prices are low. Guess bars and airbnb apartments will be really cheap.
  8. Job title/description: ML Engineer Industry you work in: Automotive City and Country: Israel Anything expected or unexpected from being forced to work from home: We are way ahead of schedule. Mainly because open space in the office doesn't fit the culture of the country. Remote sessions with the US are also easier to schedule now. This is nice and all, but personally I really like meeting the people at the office. I believe management will want us back to desks ASAP as our colleagues in the US did complain about issues regarding working from home. Government is also pushing tech to be the first non essential sector to break confinement and commute, because they need our income tax and have no idea how performance of actual work should be measured.
  9. Strange thing to see all canned tuna is gone, yet shelves are packed with sardines. Same goes with pasta and wheat vs. several kinds of legumes. It is like everybody went to the store with the exact same list.
  10. Israel also has mandatory service. We are not very disciplined to say the least, and military service makes us question authority even more. Honestly, I see no reason to be alert. Deaths reported here are of people in their 80's and 90's. In case there's curfew, I'll comply only not to get fined.
  11. Eye tracking, could make ads very annoying...
