  1. Are you actually interested in hearing our thoughts, or do you have a preconceived narrative regardless of what you hear? So far, almost every post, it seems to be the latter, so I won't indulge you with any response. Cheers!
  2. They weren't losing money at 60 Minutes other than the $16M settlement...but heads fell. They could have announced the cancellation next year, since the contract doesn't expire until mid-2026. They could have shut down the show years ago, but late night was a cable staple and had significant historical context for CBS. Colbert was also the hands-down winner when it came to viewership for the 8:30pm ET/11:30pm PT time slot. https://latenighter.com/news/ratings/here-are-final-late-night-ratings-for-q1-2025/ He also makes the same as Kimmel and slightly less than Fallon: https://lastnighton.com/posts/all-4-late-night-host-salaries-ranked-lowest-to-highest But no, they announced the closure of the show almost immediately after announcing the settlement. Almost certainly this was an unannounced, unwritten part of the settlement. Cheers!
  3. Peter Clarke sent me an explanation for the press release from yesterday: Fairfax Issues Reminder Regarding Unofficial Communications - Fairfax Financial Cheers! Good morning, Last evening we issued a press release reinforcing that neither Fairfax or Prem are on social media and we do not put out information on social media including financial advice. The reason for the press release is that over the last number of weeks people are posting on social media financial advice and stock picks under Prem’s name. It started on WhatsApp, then Facebook and Instagram. We have been receiving many incoming messages asking whether this was legitimate. Obviously it was all fraudulent. As the social media posts increased this week we decided to issue a press release to set the record straight. This is not unique to Fairfax or Prem but we wanted to address the situation. Please find attached the press release and an example of a recent post. Thank you, Peter

  4. Trump lies like a sociopath! Here he tells a whopper of a story about his uncle teaching the Unibomber at MIT. His uncle died in 1985, and Ted Kaszynski wasn't identified as the Unibomber until 1996...yet Trump says he talked to his uncle about teaching Kaszynski, the Unibomber. His uncle also taught at MIT, while Kaszynski went to Harvard...never MIT. Cheers!
  5. Fairfax warning all shareholders or investors interested in Fairfax, to be very careful of what information they view online representing Prem or the company. Looks like there must have been some AI fakes or audio fakes...something...purporting to be Prem or Fairfax. Cheers! Fairfax Issues Reminder Regarding Unofficial Communications - Fairfax Financial
  6. Trump kills another critic...thanks to buddy Larry Ellison: https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/17/media/cbs-cancels-stephen-colbert Historic Late Show will end after next season. Bye, bye Stephen Colbert! Cheers!
  7. Neither Trump, nor Clinton, will escape their lewd behavior...so no need to compare them. Cheers!
  8. Maybe not a Raptor, but how about a baby Triceratops or Woolly Mammoth? On the bonus...do we really want to bring Megalodon back as the apex predator in the water? Probably not! I think most people are fine with a 14 foot Great White. Cheers!
  9. Without Siouxsie Sioux, there would be no Morrissey, no Susanna Hoffs, no Belinda Carlisle, no Cyndi Lauper, no Courtney Love, no Chryssi Hynde, no Kim Gordon, no Kim Deal, no St. Vincent, and theoretically, no Madonna! Siouxsie Sioux, Joan Jett and Debbie Harry...spawned pretty much every female rock star for the last 50 years! And to a lesser extent, Annie Lennox. Cheers!
  10. Very cool...protein was protected under the enamel of the Rhino tooth. May be able to do the same with dinosaur teeth. Cheers! https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/15/science/ancient-protein-rhino-fossil
  11. Siouxsie Sioux never received enough credit as a female lead singer unlike Debbie Harry. I don't think you would have the likes of Karen Oh from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs if it wasn't for Siouxsie Sioux...which would have been a tragedy, because Karen Oh is something very special! My personal favorite...was a fantastic album...much more polished than their early works. Cheers!
  12. Call one of Sotheby's salons closest to your father and explain what he has. They should be able to tell you if one of their appraisal experts can provide an appraisal on the items. Depending on where you live, you may have local appraisers for fine art/collectibles that can also give you some idea. Cheers!
  13. It also doesn't break down what type of jobs were taken up by native born...were they the same type of jobs the immigrants were doing? Highly doubt that! Cheers!
  14. It might be high but not far off...most Canadians, pension funds, investment funds, financial institutions have a significant exposure to U.S. investments/assets. Any cold to the U.S. is pneumonia to Canada...so only a fool would like to see the U.S. fail in any way. What they want to see is Trump eat humble pie, but he doesn't...he only eats McDonald's, KFC and Taco Bell! But when some Americans hear that, they assume Canada hates them, wants to support socialists, jihadists, anti-capitalists and those against freedom of speech. No, we don't want any of that...we just wish you guys would put away your frat boy antics, lock up your guns properly, don't destroy the fundamental trust in science and maybe, just maybe, implement controls on campaign funding! Cheers!
  15. +1! Cheers!
  16. TACO...TACO? Cheers! https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.6827668
  17. Sock was eligible as a professional player to enter the tournament. He picked Ackman as his partner. Maybe he invests with Ackman, or they play together recreationally...maybe Ackman paid him...not sure. Alot of people were not happy! Ackman says he plays with D1 college players and ex-pros, but they must take it easy on him. When I was younger, I played some fringe pros for fun, let alone actual pros...they absolutely destroyed me and I was probably close to a college level player. Cheers! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-14895243/MAGA-hedge-fund-billionaire-slammed-buying-way-tennis-tournament-disastrous-results.html
  18. Could be as well! This administration not only likes the TACO (Trump Always Chickens Out), but to move on to another subject when there is one brewing they don't want to talk about...TABOOS (Trump Always Breaks Out Other Stories). Cheers!
  19. He's trying to get them all to speed up the deal making process. They've had little to announce. Cheers!
  20. 35% now on Canada as well from August 1st. It's actually pushing those countries to do more business with China, among others, rather than do more business with the U.S. Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-puts-35-tariff-canada-003831560.html
  21. Beijing and Shanghai are both worth seeing. The history combined with how modern China has become is amazing! If you've been to India, I would say Beijing is like Delhi...alot of history, state buildings, parks, etc. Shanghai would be akin to Mumbai...modern, cosmopolitan. If you have the time, certainly visit other cities...but if you have just a few days...start with those two cities. Cheers!
  22. CNN's general audience is younger...they have a huge viewership when you include all platforms. They are falling and lagging FOX, MSNBC and a couple of others, but remain one of the largest news outlets in the world. Also, Fox News isn't the problem, it's FOX's other shows that were incredibly partisan. FOX News receives nearly as much criticism from Trump as CNN! Cheers!
  23. You always have domestic terrorist groups in every country...I'm sure there are dozens in the U.S. This was a group of four...3 current military personnel...that were recruiting and trying to execute on their agenda or manifesto. In this type of political climate, you will see more of this globally. In the 1970's, there was the FLQ in Quebec, which were a hard line terrorist/separatist group that went through with a number of murders, bombings and kidnappings. Nations have to always be vigilant against domestic terrorism. Cheers!
  24. You can see him play here: He's an average recreational player. They were taking it very easy on him. He doesn't even hit the ball at the apex and has no backhand. His volleying got better in the 2nd set. They were taking very casual swings on their returns, as three of them were/are professional and he's an amateur. Still in good shape for a 59 year old and looked like he had fun. My uncle, who taught me to play, would have ripped him apart at 59 just with his serve alone. I played a lot as a teenager and into my late 20's, and entered a number of local amateur tournaments. My uncle's serve in his 50's had so much spin on it, he made me look like a fool as a youngster. He could put the ball wherever he wanted on his serve...over and over again! Made some professionals look stupid too! He taught a lot of local amateurs and a few professionals at Hollyburn in West Vancouver. Cheers!
