Warren Buffett’s Berkshire buys Dominion Energy natural gas assets in $10 billion deal https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/05/warren-buffetts-berkshire-buys-dominion-energy-natural-gas-assets-in-10-billion-deal.html

You guys eat fancy. Our family still buys the 0.99c/lb pork shoulder/"country style ribs," 0.59c/lb chicken quarters, $1.49/lb pork ribs, $4.99/lb ny/ribeye steaks. We only buy eggs when it's 0.99c per dozen. Meat is too cheap in America. Veggies are from Chinese markets. Regular American markets are too expensive for leafy greens. Rice is base. We spend more for fresh fish and seafood. Breakfast is usually noodles with some veggies and maybe an egg. Lunch when working is usually lunchbox with leftovers from last night's dinner.

U.S. housing market about to get SLAMMED
fareastwarriors replied to opihiman2's topic in General Discussion
Here in the SF Bay Area (primarily East Bay), my friends and family All want to Buy but inventory is low and prices are still high. They have been saving for years but the prices keep climbing and/or getting outbid. The cash is still there and their portfolios are bigger than ever. Most of the people losing jobs were not in the market to buy here. Of course this can change as more people in higher up positions lose jobs too. And obviously sentiment and/or economic reality can change quickly. We're not all tech ipo millionaires, although many do work in tech or healthcare but most are self-employed. The ranges they are looking at start at $650k to $1.2m. -
I'm still amazed when my flight takes off. So I'm easily impressed. ;D

I watched the ISS fly by the night of the launch. You could actually see the capsule trailing the station as it was preparing to dock. Pretty cool to see. I have watched a number of launches off the coast and watched the rockets coming down to land. It is really awesome to see. It was my first time watching a lanuch and my heart was racing the whole time. What a beautiful sight and incredible accomplishment.

Inside the $2.5 Trillion Debt Binge That has taken S&P 500 Titans including Boeing and AT&T From Blue Chips To Near Junk In the boom years before the pandemic, the Fed encouraged S&P 500 titans to binge on trillions in debt, now the central bank is propping them up to avoid an economic catastrophe. https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoinegara/2020/05/21/inside-the-25-trillion-debt-binge-that-has-taken-sp-500-titans-including-boeing-and-att-from-blue-chips-to-near-junk/#55ddb8247a1f -

If a company can get NYC or SF with 30-50% cheaper rents, there would huge demand. Everything in big downtown metros are just too expensive.

SoftBank’s second Vision Fund hangs in the balance after the first one posted a record $18 billion loss https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/22/softbanks-vision-fund-ii-in-jeopardy.html Japanese tech giant SoftBank announced the $108 billion Vision Fund 2 last July. The idea is that it would compliment the first $100 billion Vision Fund, which was announced in 2017. Vision Fund 1 reported huge losses on Monday after SoftBank wrote down the valuations of companies like Uber and WeWork by billions.

Will working from home be the new normal?
fareastwarriors replied to rukawa's topic in General Discussion
You guys dislike the office that much? I worked at investment management firm and commuted into a downtown office. It was great. I hated working from home. The small laptop even with extra monitor was still not enough screen real estate. Everything is slower too when I had to go through Citrix. Distractions everywhere. It was agonizing. Even on the weekend, I rather drive 30-45 minutes to get to the office than to do extra work on my laptop. I was in 20s and early 30s when I was working there so maybe I'll feel differently once I'm married or become older. I think the future is more of a hybrid style, more WFH days per week but not all WFH forever. -

So buying 100 of BRK is buying 81 pears and 19 Apples. Wondering who will buy $1500 iPhones this fall? Cola, well, different story in a depression.. What -
This is definitely in too hard pile. :)
