  1. I've already read three of those books I listed. The Intelligent Investor is just another edition, The Outsiders I listened to an audiobook, and Where are The Customer's Yachts I was dumb enough to give to Goodwill. I'm keeping these books forever.
  2. I've already read it and it's sitting on my desk right now.
  3. Slippery slope there. Maybe the Einsatzgruppen were simply "horrific side-effects of war."
  4. I'd say starving a quarter of an entire country's population borders pretty close to genocide: "The entire 2.1 million population of Gaza is facing prolonged food shortages, with nearly half a million people in a catastrophic situation of hunger, acute malnutrition, starvation, illness and death. This is one of the world’s worst hunger crises, unfolding in real time." WHO: People in Gaza starving, sick and dying as aid blockade continues
  5. I bought a ton of books over the last few days: The Intelligent Investor - 1949 Edition The Ten Commandments for Business Failure Where Are the Customers' Yachts?: or A Good Hard Look at Wall Street The Outsiders: Eight Unconventional CEOs and Their Radically Rational Blueprint for Success Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street The original 1949 text of The Intelligent Investor is surprisingly different from the later editions. I recommend reading it.
  6. I think Trump should make himself the next Fed chair.
  7. The man who's never wrong:
  8. Interest rates should never go up. They should be immediately lowered to zero and remain there forever. Also, Trump has an economics degree from Wharton.
  9. Am I the only Oklahoman on the whole board?
  10. Wow. Oklahoma finally holds the number-one spot in something unrelated to domestic violence.
  11. Maybe I’m wrong though.
  12. Just from reading, I get the sense that a lot of Iranians are of the same mind of the WW2 Japanese — that they’re very willing to die for the sake of their country.
  13. “Iranian state media said only minor damage to entrance tunnels was done, and the country’s Atomic Energy Organization said it would continue work on its nuclear program.” I don’t know what they get out of this if it isn’t true. But they do like to bark a lot.
  14. Isn’t J. Powell part of Hamas?
  15. Do you not think Uranium enrichment is the most difficult part? I of course don’t know, but I’d think everything past that would be relatively simple. edit: and quick.
  16. "The ports are an illustration of the effects of globalization that Mr. Trump criticizes. As factories moved abroad over decades, particularly to China, the ports formed one end of a busy ocean superhighway. Most of that traffic flows in one direction. For every four containers that arrive stuffed with foreign cars, textiles and toys, only one is sent out filled with corn, soybeans and other American exports. The other three containers often return empty — evidence of the trade deficit that the president rails against." NYT: This Is Ground Zero in Trump’s Trade War
  17. What's currently happening with Iran is J. Powell's fault.
  18. Hopefully Trump knows what he’s doing. I guess I can’t say he’s not bold.
  19. I’d bet oil’s down 1% on Monday open.
  20. The most dangerous thing you could probably do in a war is underestimate your enemy. And after doing a bit of research, there is almost zero reason for enriching Uranium to that level if not to make a bomb. Having a renowned Nuclear physicist tell you that 60% enrichment is a "hair's breadth" away from the level needed for a nuclear weapon is scary. I think Israel is acting appropriately.
  21. "Mr. Albright offers a quick lesson in nuclear science: For uranium to be weapon-grade, it must be enriched to 90%. “Enrichment is a complicated process,” he explains. “If you start with natural uranium and enrich it to 5%, where you’re not even close to 90%, that’s actually 70% of the enrichment effort.” The math, on its face, is misleading. “When you’re at 60%, it may look like you’re 30% short on percentage, but you’re actually 99% of the way in terms of enrichment effort.” In other words, 60% enrichment is only a hair’s breadth from weapon grade—and Iran’s program is brimful with this near-weapon-grade uranium." WSJ: Iran Is Down, but Not Yet Out
  22. So the papers make it look like Tehran isn't capitulating and that both the United States and Israel are having issues regarding their interceptor supplies. I believe that Iran has only used about a quarter of their total missles so far, and I also read somewhere that they have a strong production capacity for more.
  23. What do you read every morning Spek?
  24. This is somehow J. Powell's fault. I just know it.
