  1. Does anyone have Wintaai 2024 annual report/annual letter?
  2. My guess is $DXT.TO. The company is doing buybacks, so Fairfax stake is increasing organically. Only a matter of time before it is taken private imo. Fairfax owns ~51% of Dexterra shares already.
  3. Being conservative and releasing reserves over time also acts as a tax deferral! It is another tool in a good insurer tool kit to compound!
  4. I wonder what business Fairfax buys this year! Looking forward to it, and knowing more about it!

  6. Sure, I was thinking more on the lines of Fairfax investing in $PEP instead of maybe Corporate bonds/bonds. My guess is $PEP probably has lower drawdowns vs S&P500 during downturns. (Anyways to check this? Any free tools?) Also, does anyone know if $FFH.TO has specific restrictions on what they can invest the float in?
  7. $PEP looks interesting at current prices, 4% dividend yield and somewhere between 2-4% growth per year (conservatively)! I hope Fairfax picks up some shares. $BRK can have coke and us some Pepsi & Lays
  8. Fairfax mentioned on BNN today. Timestamp: 33:04
  9. I mentioned Mohnish cause I think he is a very rational investor and one who I think understands insurance well. When I had initially bought Fairfax and later got to know Mohnish knew about Fairfax (attends the annual meetings), I doubted whether my thesis on Fairfax was flawed, I doubted whether Fairfax management was actually good. Now, over the years I have gained confidence in Fairfax Management by listening to calls/interviews and how consistent they are. But every year that I don't see Mohnish buying Fairfax , in the back of my head I wonder whether my understanding of the economics of the insurance business maybe flawed. I am trying to be open to different views about Fairfax. Most of my other holdings keep my ego in check
  10. Fairfax Financial mentioned in Globe and Mail: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/rob-magazine/article-guardian-capitals-sam-baldwin-outperforms-by-pursuing-asymmetric/
  11. One of the things that I ponder is, How/why did Mohnish Pabrai miss $FFH.TO over the last few years. I think it is a reasonable assumption that he is aware of what Fairfax does, its management etc and yet why doesn't he invest in $FFH.TO? I wonder why he doesn't see $FFH.TO as a high compounding machines (15%)? or is his return expectation higher than 15%?
  12. Anyone looked at the Raymond James report on $FFH.TO? Looks like they initiated coverage, can anyone share here/email me ([email protected])
  13. Fairfax India writeup: https://www.latticework.com/p/fairfax-india-well-managed-cheap you can listen to about 11min for free and download the ppt.
  14. Thanks for the share, the interviews seem good. If anyone has access and wouldn’t mind sharing the pdf, please email me ([email protected]), appreciate it.
  15. @Cigarbutt Thanks for the share
  16. National Bank on $FFH.TO https://x.com/acorn_capital/status/1899557738361077921
  17. @Viking : Having 250 profit centers / insurance companies also helps with risk management. One really bad judgement/decision/risk assessment by one insurance company doesn’t take Fairfax along with it. One thing I wonder is how they manage exposure to certain events as a combined entity? who overseas that and how effective is it over the long run.
  18. Anyone here done research on Commercial International bank? What in the monopoly money is this 50% ROE and ~10% NIM??????? (Replacing Prem's exclamations with my question mark)
  19. Ok, pretty sure (95%) it is $BN.TO . The BN return doesn't even include the BAM spin.
  20. Here is what Perplexity said .
