  1. wow.. down to 1 buck.. that's getting cheap :) subsidy artificially lowers the price of non-recycle papers.. make RBK less attractive? forward looking... book value still around $4.5 sales increase will go to the bottom line as their fix cost are still high.
  2. the poor pricing of RBK is partly due to the black liquor subsidy. so i expect to improve through out the year. unless the the CC is very positive, I am betting we may see a pullback given the share price has run 50%.
  3. Balance sheet and MD&A can be found on their website.. i don't see anything that stands out either positively or negatively.
  4. >>Whatever the market is willing to pay is the "real" price. It's the real price only you have to sell it. But if Wells can hold it until the maturity why do they have to raise liquidity to fill the hole now based on the current "market" price. That's my only pt.
  5. 100billions??? I guess the only way to explain that gap is the difference between Mark to market vs Mark to model. Wells has the earning power to hold their assets to maturity... they don't need to mark them to the market price. However, some ppl like to mark banks' asset using market price. It's somewhat fair when the market is liquid.. but when everybody is trying to deleverage, the market becomes a buyer's market and thus give unrealistic prices.
  6. CFX just up their distribution to 8 cents.
  7. I wish I can have a scanner to scan filings for me and tell me how much the company worths. It's similar - but I think our jobs is harder than that :).
  8. Finally, bought back some common today. Sold most of CFX.UN - they are now distributing 5 cents per month. if SFK can distribute 1 cent - should be a double from here.
  9. People ought to take a longer term view than 1 year to value a company like MFC. MFC is very smart to build capital and make small acquisitions in short term.
  10. Good company. But I don't think it's a good time to own it now. Their margin got squeeze last couple Q and I don't see how it can improve in short to medium term.
  11. Check out their latest presentation on how equity market, corp bond rate and treasury will impact the earning. Approximate impact of 100bps parallel decrease in interest rates -$2.0B 10% drop in equity market will cost -1.3B So, the earning will be much lower or higher depending on how the interest rate and equity market go. I think that scare many ppl away from it.
  12. it looks cheap. company is well-run. and it's smart to be conservative now.
  13. Invest now is betting that the Lincoln transaction is legit. Should get a quick double if it is. Last quarter was that bad.
  14. almost up to 1 buck now. Lighten up my load today. Bot too little at 20 cents and didn't add during the run. :(
  15. I am out of it now. I believe the double (triple?) their share counts in the recent financings.. - so I am not clear about the upside.
  16. Are we suppose to hear more details on the Gov. Black Liquor tax credit plan this Quarter? I think both CFX and SFK can easily double from here given the current price. Low natural gas is helping CFX big time... but the CDN strength is big -ve.
  17. One of its main risk is political one.. remember they have coal plants. old ones as well.
  18. I can't find it in IB neither. Questrade has it. Here is the symbol. http://cxa.marketwatch.com/tsx/en/market/quote.aspx?symbol=sfk.db
  19. SFK convertible debt is still priced at 50cents on a dollar. A double from here if SFK is to survive til 2011 while collecting 15% interest. Seems better risk/reward ratio to me.
  20. ... the microcaps that I have haven't run much... so I am not sure what u are talking about :)
  21. Any opinion on CXF pulp... it looks safe with probably half of the upside?
  22. Natural gas is priced like 20 dollars oil. The drilling has slowed down significantly - supply will be down in coming quarters while the demand will start to increase. Next few quarters will be sweet.
  23. Many smaller businesses are flushed out by the crisis. Those who made it will have less competitions going forward. Big banks will be printing money when the loan loss slow down. I think we are heading for another bull market; this is not a bear market rally.
  24. PFE - it's quite cheap. I would suggest everyone to read their Wyeth buyout presentation. The forward P/E is probably lowest among others. Couple drugs will be off patents soon but still very cheap even factor those in.
  25. The common has doubled in the last few days. Missed the run. But for those holding it. Congratulation.
