  2. Well, while you are obsessing, consider what we were left with on Election day. That was exactly one Presidential term following Trump 1, when many of you forcefully believed he would end the World as we know it. What seem to be lacking here IMO is perspective.
  3. The left wing will not hurt the midterms much because that’s about stonewalling Trump’s agenda. I think the Democrats have a good shot at winning those even in the current disjointed condition. The issue comes with the next election. Both Parties will have problems. Trump will be gone but at that point will be radioactive enough that it reflects on everyone he has worked with especially Vance . You will see Vance disconnecting himself from Trump for that reason before the elections. The Dems have no leading persona who can win elections. The populist left leaning ones like AOC play a good game for themselves but likely can’t win an election because they can’t win over enough of the middle class. So we are likely left with 2 crummy candidates and my hunch is that the Republicans will have the edge here. All this is just a guess.
  4. @73 Reds, You asked, and I was not really asked, but I felt entitled to contribute - at least partly - to an answer here [likely bad form]. I have here in this topic spent a lot of time documenting for you and others the real facts about POTUS' 'Greenland thingy' and how it's percieved here in Denmark - an ally to USA, that has followed USA into the war against terror, with our own war casualties. And yet, all the US lies, propaganda and distorsions about the actual Greenland situation continues. There is relatively calme about the 'Greenland thingy' by now, - that's because POTUS is occupied what he's entagled in with Iran, taking his attention, - by now. - - - o 0 o - - - That may suffice here. - - - o 0 o - - - @73 Reds, Btw.: Out of pure curiosity : Have you any part of total capital invested outside USA? From reading your posts I think that hav understood UK has special place in your heart?
  5. No, there are absolutely no better alternatives currently available Reds. And along those lines my biggest fear of all, by far the one that dominates my thinking, is that our obsession with Donnie greatly enhances the probability that a somewhat equal, and we know there are no equals to Trump's simplistic sell, man or from the left will work our country for his god-awful agenda. The words applicable are "to the degree we go...is the degree we go..."
  6. John, does daily ranting and whining help? If so, this forum provides a captive audience. If you want to discuss specifics, what "approach" are you referring to? Each issue and policy presents its own approach. I'm happy to discuss them, but when folks cannot, or refuse to differentiate between a person and a policy, what is there to discuss?
  7. @73 Reds, I'm not asked here, but I take the freedom to contribute to an answer here anyway. Nurse and evolve relations and intercourse with friends and allies based on respect and mutual understanding in stead of this now longstanding, almost never ending, sh*t show constantly going on by now, with harassments, insults, name calling, theats and what do I know, all the time. It's not a matter of 'the person'. It's matter of incumbent POTUS not knowing the difference between one of his socalled 'wins' - and successes. Long term, POTUS' actual approach is just such a no-go.
  8. Today
  9. Yeah, really. Got any better ideas?
  10. Charlie [ @dealraker ], Your post above made me go down the memory lane, where I here on CofB&F found the following topic started by me : CofB&F [December 6th 2016] : Trump wants to cancel Air Force One order from Boeing I thought I would share it here, -I think I've read somewhere that a good laugh is good for our health.
  11. As you guys profile the typical Trump Trump's all I can say is that when he is in charge all things turn out the same way, a huge mess. And he always takes a nice paycheck while the chaos continues. Mr. Market is Trump's salvation, a huge portion of US people are watching this comedy show while monitoring their 401K's moment by moment. Nothing is going to change, count on it, until Mr. Market decides he's tired of going up and wanting to do something else. Enjoy the show. While doing so you may also want to conceptualize something that you all intuitively know for certain, that even those with rings in their noses being led by Trump know. What is it? You all know that Trump does not want anyone but himself to succeed, he is not "for the US" he is for Trump and only Trump. He does not plan to leave the US in good condition when his time is up, he's going to tell you that this fucking place is doomed to failure because he's not going to be available to "lead" you. Trump despises others including his believers, that's him to the bone. It may be fun to think "Well the libs are getting their asses beat" and whatnot but it is coming at a huge cost to all things the conservatives deem their core beliefs. Once you are on the Trump bandwagon it is nearly impossible to get off, the addiction to rage and revenge is too exciting. Watch finances people. I've been telling you for years that Trump is Trump, that money is free and debt is to be ignored and defaulted upon...that is simply Trump's core belief- that you fuck the creditors. And please stop with the "well you know I support this clown because his policies..." Really? Sanjeev's list above? Gunna get to a list of thousands. Trump can take a rubber hammer to a steel anvil and make a believer out of you. He always does the same thing to every single thing he touches. My guess is Trump is starting to feel like he either won't live too much longer or that his power is waning a bit. Now this is going to motivate him to do some really cool stuff. Look for heightened entertainment of the extreme style!
  12. Within this week, I added a bit more BRK.B - Berkshire Hathaway, class B, at USD 488.00. - - - o 0 o - - - During this week, I also added a bit more to FFH.TO - Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, subordinate voting shares. A limit order at CAD 2,250.00 filled at CAD 2.243,32, so about CAD 100 per share cheaper than last time.
  13. In a way it's buying back my shares I sold for 159 USD two years ago. Valuation is back to P/B of 0.9 when I bought my initial position four years ago. I expect them to reach some normalized margins again in some years. Until then it will be dead money indeed. People are creatures of habit. Give it a few more years, and mortgage rates of 6–7% will be "normal" again, just like 30 years ago.
  14. Whats your thesis? I get that housing stocks are cheap but seems like dead money to me unless the 10-year falls 100 bps.
  15. I think we should expect swift EU retaliation on these new tariffs. Here is an example : Børsen - News - Businesses [July 24th 2026] : Danish company on Trump tariffs: "Is absurd" From the article, here translated to English : - - - o 0 o - - - Berkshire acquired CTB in 2002, and the European arm of CTB acquired 80% [<- I think] of Cabinplant A/S in 2016 from the two founders, who still owns the rest in a shared private holding company. Cabinplant is a good business, turnover just below DKK 500 million, 300 employeés. Cabinplant is about 10% of CTB today. Cabinplant is located in a small town called Haarby near the coastal city Assens on Funen, about 2,500 habitants there, 45 km south-west from here. If one asks a snobby and arrogant Copenhagener's nose, who has never been west to Valby Hill about Cabinplant in Haarby he doesn't know of either! https://www.cabinplant.com/
  16. None who wear those, I think. But it's interesting to read that somebody is actually buying the products, that's good to hear.
  17. You don’t know any women? My mother, wife, sister in law and daughter all want a nice bag. All of my friends’s wives own either Dior, Vuitton or Chanel or birkin
  18. They were overpriced, including due to pandemic economy. Besides that, why do you think those a great companies? The ones which are selling their IP I consider particularly risky. Selling good IP sounds great on paper, but it's undermined by agency costs and ever changing tastes of consumers. LVMH... Their business model is purely theoretical to me, because I don't know anyone who would be their customer. The real luxury today is at independent producers and custom made goods. The big luxury corporations are selling a cheap illusion, and who knows how long it will work. Also alcohol consumption is on a falling trend, and wristwatches are obsolete.
  19. Yup...there were a lot of wins for the taking this time. But like a gambler, he doesn't know when to stop and walk away with his winnings. He won handily on the southern border, but then went to far with ICE. He was winning with DOGE, but again just started hacking with a machete. He was winning Iran, but then let Israel continue bombing Lebanon. He was making headway with the tariffs, but then kept piling them on and on. He was going to make meaningful changes to Obamacare, but then essentially blew it apart. The man is his own worst enemy! He's the guy who is 30 points ahead of the other team and then blows the whole fucking lead and just blames someone else or the media! Cheers!
  20. Genius at work here! He's an expert in acting like a thug...some of his best friends are thugs...would we expect anything else? Cheers!
  21. @thepupil that Tencent chart is kind of beautiful. Their asset allocation seems good, the business grows and remains very relevant. As Greg says, the Chinese ADR element will keep a lid on the valuation but maybe the stock can grow in line with earnings at this point. VIE and politics (macro and micro) remain a vulnerability. Alphabet like quality without the insane AI spend.
  22. Adds to UBER, HONA, ASR, BZU
  23. This is the TIPS yield curve. I think 15-20 year duration looks good as you can lock in a “risk free” 2.5-3% return above inflation (as measured by the government). It’s has been a long time since you could get this sort of yield. Breakeven inflation is 2.2% which means if it’s higher you do better than treasuries with the same duration. I would take this bet any day. I think these are great in IRA‘s. They serve a similar purpose than gold as a diversifier or you keep them as a cash substitute. I bought some at Fidelity today and it worked pretty well.

  25. I just relied on Gemini to get a number, but it seems to be off; Fairfax has just short of 22m shares of the C-shares (UA), and 44m shares of the A-shares (UAA). The 22% number is probably the percentage of the A-shares. Yahoo Finance says Under Armour has 203m shares outstanding, or 426m "assuming the conversion of all convertible subsidiary equity into common". Do they mean some other security, beyond the A- and C-shares, or the privately held B-shares? I don't know. So maybe 66/426= 15.5% of the A- and C-shares? So they would still be marked to market after all. I guess we will see in a few weeks.
  26. That webpage reads like something a 4Channer would write trying to sound smart.
  27. Does anybody remember who played the part of the CDC director in Idiocracy?. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccine-safety/about/autism.html
