Xerxes Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I was not too impressed with Dan Yergin last two books. Seems to have been written by an AI scouring the internet, in contrast to The Prize and Commanding Heights. This book is an absolute must read. Super interesting read on commodity trading houses. While I knew some of the names in passing, the book does a great job connecting all the stories. this podcast also covers the topic by discussing the book with the authors.
lnofeisone Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Thanks for the recommendation. Got this book and finished it cover to cover over the weekend. We are all familiar with the names of the trading houses and the individual traders but the backstories are phenomenal.
wondering Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I just finished this book. Really fun read. It opened my eyes to the fact that oil producers don't always have a ready buy for their crude at any given time.
Saluki Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Just finished this book, which was lent to me by @lnofeisone. It is a really interesting read. Despite, in a past life, having some clients in the energy industry, I was unaware of a lot of the unbelievable behind the scenes stuff. It's really well researched and they dug up a lot despite the fact that the people in this industry are very secretive. Highly recommend adding it to your reading list.
