I looked up "The Undoing Project" on Amazon and it said "Read for free" with prime. So I just had that delivered to my Kindle. Thanks. I've also never read Clockwork Orange, I'm going to put that on my list as well.
Liberty Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Undoing Project was fun, nice to know more of the backstory on these people who I've been reading about for years, many good anecdotes. Doesn't replace reading the papers, or at least Thinking Fast and Slow, though.
villainx Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Timely thread. I'm looking for worthwhile hard copy books. Want to set good example for kids.
writser Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 What about Bill Bryson - A short history of nearly everything? Fun read. Bit of science for the kids. I like his writing style though. Just finished 'One summer: America 1927'. Also very enjoyable.
rkbabang Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Another 2 books I'll mention which are good reads are Kevin Kelly's "What Technology Wants" and his follow-up "The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future". He's got an interesting take on the evolutionary process of technology, both how it evolved in the past and where it is likely going.
flesh Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Basic economics, Thomas Sowell The master and his emissary genome deep simplicity against the gods
villainx Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I got Evicted, by Desmond, based on a basketball player's critique on Milwaukee.
DCG Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I recently read Disrupted by Dan Lyons and thought it was really good. I think a lot of people on this board would enjoy it.
K2SO Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Most recent book that really impacted me is The Order of Time by Carlo Rovelli.
rkbabang Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Most recent book that really impacted me is The Order of Time by Carlo Rovelli. Thanks for posting this. I downloaded the audible version the day you posted this and just finished it this morning. Excellent book.
Sharad Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 James P Carse, "Finite and Infinite Games"; Tom Wright, Bradley Hope, "Billion Dollar Whale"; Ichiro Kishimi, Fumitake Koga, "The Courage to be Disliked" (basically a primer on Adler); Ben MacIntyre , "The Spy and The Traitor"; Laurence Gonzales, "Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why". I enjoyed these books immensely in the last 6 months (among the books I read). While none really added anything to my investment process, per se, I feel they all added another ring to my tree of knowledge, and I highly recommend reading any of them to think differently or learn more about things that have happened in moderately recent history.
