  1. FIFA is feeling pretty silly right now
  2. EVERYONE is for the obliteration of Iran (which apparently did not happen 6 months ago despite the claim). The problem is that gosh darned Constitution which requires congressional support. And if Trump was capable of explaining his rationale, he would get congressional support (not to mention that his party actually controls congress). Its the fact that the excuse changes daily and there is no plan in place and that he is ignoring the constitution. The fact youre willing to do that solely because its your Grand Leader is what's wrong with it. If this was a Democrat president youd be up in arms.
  3. Baldwin up 25% on earnings and I have to scratch my head. For the year they had negative operating cash flow of $30m, capex of $40m and payouts of contingent earnouts of $66m. So the underlying business burned thru $70m, they are still paying out large amounts for earlier acquisitions and they had to add another $250m of debt to cover it.
  4. The question is whether Australia has it right or not. In Australia you get fined for not voting. My freedom loving views suggest this takes it too far but its an interesting idea.
  5. I disagree. The government represents everybody, not just those with a hurdle rate IQ or can pass a basic civics test (keep in mind huge numbers of Americans notoriously fail the most basic geography, history and civics tests). Everyone thinks theyre above average intelligence and obviously that cant be true. The whole idea is that while there will always be outliers, groups as a whole are very effective in getting the right answer. People usually only have issues with it when those groups arent voting the way you want them to vote.
  6. I tend to agree it is the 2 party system. Few options and people vote against candidates more than for them. Theres also nothing like a majority formed by a coalition of polar opposite parties to get checks and balances. Blaming the electorate isnt the problem. Thats been the case for 250 years and things have worked out pretty well. And id guess that 200 years ago barely half of the electorate could read or even knew what was going on outside their town. Shockingly, I agree with @73 Reds that a hugr part of it is apathy and people not bothering to vote - and then having the gall to complain about who got elected.
  7. That describes my beliefs to a T. Maybe with a push on less regulation and stronger on balanced budget.
  8. Sorry, hit quote on the last post. My bad
  9. From the Dept of Justice: The U.S. Attorney General (AG) works for the United States government as the head of the Department of Justice (.gov), acting as the chief law enforcement officer and principal legal advisor to the President and Cabinet. They represent the U.S. in legal matters, oversee federal agencies like the FBI, and enforce federal They offer legal advice to the President (and Cabinet), they dont enforce his personal whims. The role has traditionally gone out of its way to ensure independence. It has now become the President's personal vengeance arm.
  10. Probably a good idea to stay out.of arguments if you, as a lawyer, are making statements like the last one.
  11. The AG is appointed by the Pres (confirmed by congress) but their responsibility is to the American people. The AG is not there to further the Presdient's agenda! This is really basic Google level stuff
  12. The AG works for the American people not the President. Their job is not to further the Presidents agenda it is to enforce the laws. Aren't you a lawyer??????????
  13. Good point.
  14. I have cared the entire time. It was just not a topic of discussion on here until the guy named a million times got elected promising to r3lease the files and then flip flopped to protect the predators over the victims. And yet you continue to attack those seeking the very thing Trump promised instead of the predators.
  15. Who is "they"? The Brits.are the ones who have filed charges against Andrew. Everyone cares about the victims which is why we want the predators charged. Who (other than Trump and DoJ) is taking the other side?
  16. Then why arent you supportive of releasing the full unredacted files as promised?
  17. So release all the files as promised and let the real information flow! As Trump promised and even supported in law.
  18. You are now siding with pedophiles against victims because it might harm trump. Not only is that a cult but it says something about you as a person.
  19. The DoJ is breaking the law that Trump supported to release everyrhing and youre tripping over yourself to defend them instead of letting all the cards fall where they may. When you side with protecting pedophiles because your Dear Leader might be exposed by the info you are in a cult.
  20. I understand that the DOJ is protecting a President who's name is in the files a million times. And refusing to release the unrelated files. Once again, you are complaining more about people who want the very thing the President promised to do than the pedophiles being protected.by it.
  21. Okay, so nail them for obstruction. Also it was lower on the newsreel because none of those Presidents was besties with the pedophile in question. Certainly didn't come up on here to discuss. But now we have a President and DOJ literally breaking the law that they supported in not releasing the unrelated files. Wonder why....
  22. They haven't even come close to being released. A small fraction has been released and those are heavily redacted.
  23. Pot meet kettle. For the person who has posted multiple times about people irrationally wasting their life complaining on a message board that will accomplish nothing...you keep doing exactly what you complain about for other people.
  24. I cant recall any FBI director of any color going overseas to the Olympics. Or to visit his girlfriend. Its not an issue of color, its an issue of competence.
  25. I suspect his assumptions are wrong. If everyone could reduce premiums by 20% the industry must be over-earning by 20% on all those policies. That doesnt show up in the earnings (97 combined ratio). I would bet that while a couple of people could reduce premiums by that much, they are likely to outliers not the norm. Insurers wont underwrite to losses, they'll raise prices.
