Always the victim.

The fact that every media org from main street to cable news to social media completely ignored this tells you its ridiculous propaganda intended for an audience of one (well, two including you)
-
The old saying "if you dont know who the sucker is at the poker table, its probably you" comes to mind here. If you think its being manipulated, unless youre involved in it, the only smart move is to step away.

Loyalty over competence.

Canned in a year usually means: a) major screw up in the business (unlikely in a year with a board overseeing it); b) pissed off everybody - possible; c) had an inappropriate affair. Regardless, its bad for the business and looks bad on the Board that he lasted less than a year.

What are you ranting about? This is the Argentina topic. The fact that the deficit is 6% this year even with tariff revenues suggest the money has lots of places it could be better spent than funding a basketcase country because Trump is a fan of the president.
-
Scottie B is just the one placing the bet. Its our tax money he's gambling with. All while cutting funding to things that actually benefit America.
-
It was done to make what deal? This has nothing to do with Gaza and Israel. The only deal behind this was their gift of a jet to Trump.
-
They're putting a middle east base on US soil because they gifted Trump a jet...and you think this is wonderful? Deep cult. Even Laura Loomer is livid about this one. That says something.
-
The winners of the Super Bowl also thanked the losers last year. Its a meaningless gesture that will be forgotten almost immediately. And they may be "dumb awards" but Trump was sure desperately plugging for it. So it means a lot to him.

Wow, not only did they middle finger Trump by giving the prize to a Venezuelan, a woman, a Latino, they basically rubbed it in with their accompanying statement.

Local Portland news station now has a 24 hr live feed outside the ICE building. I think one guy didnt even come to a full stop at the stop sign. Its a war zone. https://katu.com/news/local/24-hours-outside-ice-what-really-going-on-portland-oregon-trump-administration-local-republicans-immigration-protest-antifa-fascism-national-guard-kotek-police-crime-media-noem-kristi-dhs

I saw the first line and assumed they were legalizing cocaine.

I was in Portland yesterday for the marathon (family, not me running). It was gorgeous. People were out, cafes busy, coffe shops full. The race went near the ICE facility, which is nowhere near downtown by the way, and there was nothing going on. A bunch of people with signs in lawn chairs. Lawn chairs! Ive seen more people outside Voodoo Donuts than in the "war zone" This is such political theater for no reason except to try and sow the very unrest theyre claiming to be stopping.

I bought some BWIN about 2 years ago and sold it shortly afterwards (for a small but lucky gain) after reading more on this thread and swapping to BRO. They made one massive acquisition a couple of years ago and have a ton of debt, and more impactful, a huge amount of earn out payments on acquisitions that effectively would burn thru all cash for a couple of years. That should be ending this year and most cash should now be dropping to the bottom line and allow for some debt repayment. That debt was also limiting their acquisition capacity so they may go back into acquisition mode now. As @longterminvestor pointed out, their real strength is their MGA. They also have that confusing share structure where a large portion of the company continues to be held in partnership form and therefore the diluted share number is understated and only reflects like 70% (forget the actual number) ownership of the business. So you have to adjust the cash flows per.share to recognize that and it made it overpriced when I looked at it. Long way of saying that now that the earnouts are largely done it could be an interesting play again.

If no one was against that we would have it. But we dont. But my point was never to rehash the gun debate here for the 50th time. The point was always that most issues and laws reflect the tradeoff of the rights of individuals vs the good of society. And nobody will ever agree on where that line should be drawn.
-
That suggests that Americans are murderous goons and the rest of the world is more civilized.
-
From being killed by what? Other guns.
-
Protected from what?
-
Reasonable is in the eyes of the beholder.
-
Exactly. People draw the line in different places. What about legalizing drugs?
-
Nobody is arguing that people get sick and bad things happen. Thats just life. The argument is where to draw the line on preventing one person's freedom from interfering with your freedom. Some people want to have everyone get a flu shot to minimize the impact on society while others dont want to any rules at all. Satisfying both is impossible.
-
Come on, common sense has to be part of it. The benefits of vehicles massively outweigh the dangers - and its also one of the most regulated products and activities in the country to try and minimize the harm. If people driving too fast only killed themselves nobody would care. Its a matter of how much people place their personal freedoms above those of society. If someone wants to be fearful that's entirely up to them - it impacts nobody else. And if you choose not to live in fear that's fine too - as long as you dont limit anybody else's right to safety. Most importantly though, because its impossible to get everyone to agree, it IS up to the government as to where to draw the line. Every single law we have in society is the government drawing the line. And different countries draw it in different places. People disagreeing on those lines is exactly what political issues are.
-
Its a question of when individual freedoms impact societal freedoms. If a person wants to do things that risk their life and health nobody really cares - Darwin theory. But if doing so risks the life and health of broader society then people react. And nobody will ever agree where that line is. Whether its vaccines where we can eliminate disease entirely if everyone plays along or guns. Generally, people living in more populated and dense societies (cities) understand that the rules that provide a greater good sometimes limits individual freedoms. Rural populations generally feel the opposite.

I get there has to be ads its just the format of some that are annoying. I keep getting ones that automatically drop down from the top and block content unless I minimize it. And others that overlap with the "back" or "next" button so I have to scroll to the bottom to change the page.
