  1. Thanks giofranchi for uncovering value investing people in India!
  2. I am still confused trying to read the whole disclosure :-(. Sanjeev, can you tell me how the new compensation be calculated? Is there any change at all?
  3. Biglari Holdings Inc - 15% Leucadia National Corp - 9% DIRECTV - 8% Bank of America Corp - 7% SandRidge Energy Inc. - 7% Fiat S.p.A. (ADR) - 6% Chesapeake Energy Corp - 6% VistaPrint Limited - 6% J.C. Penney Company - 3.5% FirstService Corp - 3.5% EXCO Resources Inc - 3% Chanticleer Holdings Inc - 3% Misc(statistical bargains) - 12% Cash - 11% The cash will likely be consumed in few weeks as I am working on an idea may result in 5 - 10 bagger in few years.
  4. Anyone owns any of these companies? Quick check reveals that Paragon technologies owns 18% of SED..yet it trades for only 4.31M..18.6% of SED stake alone worth 2.6M.
  5. Thanks Sanjeev for this wonderful operation! Also to everyone who contributes regularly on this site! I learnt so much/made lot of money based on some of your ideas! Feel little bad as I don't contribute as much as others!
  6. You should sell when you find superior alternative uses for the capital invested in BRK.
  7. I missed the first half of it, I really appreciate if one of you could post the link for the video! Woooo! Hhooo!
  8. ~48% - because of 2 reasonably big positions OSTK & BAC (got lucky on the timing on price). This year's relative performance is the best in last few years. 2008 - (-32%) 2009 - 55% 2010 - 24% 2011 - (-10%)
  9. I have some experience with investing in net-nets in India, getting the adequate information(to ensure MOS) is quite painful. I don't think it is worth the risk/reward doing net-nets. Good companies with proven management with secular wind at their back and buying at reasonable prices is the way to go until they are grossly overvalued. As they are growing economies, there are lots of industries, poised to grow. Some cases, they will grow more than the GDP since they start at very low base(finance & infra etc). Take a look at the deposit/loan growth in banks.
  10. This prediction says more about the person who is predicting than the prediction itself :-)
  11. I'm using Bank of America(Bank) & Merrill Lynch(Brokerage) since the merger.. I get free trades on almost all of them & they don't try to make any money off of me. I must say, i'm happy with their service!
  12. But I see BOA has the lowest growth rate in deposits in top 10 banks next to SunTrust.. I wounder what the reasons could be?
  13. Try this! http://www.dataroma.com/m/home.php
  14. Investors today cannot benefit from past financial performance of any investment. I am sure we cannot evaluate business/security by the past numbers alone. The future development counts in a big way!
  15. I still own some, carried from WEST->SNS->BH.. Even though he is not treating the shareholders exactly right(at least the way we would think), there are still $ can be made holding these shares at appropriate valuations.
  16. 13-15 x EBITDA-capex.. yes, those are wildly optimistic expectations.. Did you look at the restaurant growth expectations in next 4 years? 17K from current 12K.. Interesting indeed! On these same metrics, what would they pay for Wendys? ARPU are >20% higher than current Burger King.
  17. Some might be interested! http://www.hedgeco.net/news/03/2012/new-congress-act-allows-hedge-funds-to-advertise-freely.html
  18. Sanjeev, do you think that's Iconix brands? It has been one of his holdings for a while.. He put 10% of his funds in that now. He owns ~ 3% of the company. The price of those shares are obviously cheap from where he bought, revenues growing north of 20%.. just a wild guess from my view!
  19. Anyone looked at this? http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/93859/000152153612000124/q1100370_13fhr-biglarihold.txt
  20. It is amazing to see typical fund managers manage money that the way they do & criticizing/characterizing his returns/efforts as risks involved. Very amusing!
  21. I think this concept is worth thinking about except the leverage part :-).. What is the one company that you are willing to bet your net worth(potentially tripling your net worth or more in few years)? I think Charlie Munger's concept of checklist reveals some possible ideas, A company produces a product which is necessary to the consumer in nature, some what different from competitors & can sell more in the future with increase in price without increasing the capital employed in direct proportion(less increment capital to produce more sales/profitability) High return on total capital employed, Efficient capital allocation Management in charge both competent & honest Cheap price(possibly 5-7 times fcf) I think this is superior search strategy to almost all of them employed by all the investors today. Investors should be able to increase their wealth substantially by doing that. What do you think? Do you have any companies in your watch list/ portfolio passes the above screen? Of course with leverage, you get astronomical results!
  22. Interestingly nobody seems to mention that Sears is still in trouble(not in media/blogs).. May be just because the price has gone up substantially over a week? Very amusing to the least!
