  1. It does have yeh, it’s not going to be painless but the cost is necessary. Make it yourself is more expensive but it forces you to innovate and increase productivity too.
  2. Yeh, Canada is the problem… Does he not seem to realise that his smack talking makes it far less likely Canada becomes a state?
  3. I don’t know what way the Hill blows, or care, if it’s wrong it’s wrong.
  4. Does that change anything I just said?
  5. They don’t, but many will, and the job of the government is to decide whether they should - in terms of national security, whether trade is fair, the effects it might have on society etc. This normally goes against what I would naturally believe, but this appears to me to be a concerted effort to undermine the ordinary function of free markets, to bankrupt foreign competitors through anti/competition practices, and I feel it is a national security issues to have the factories concentrated in one country.
  6. And yet it’s been blocked several times by European countries. It is an aspiration of Ukraine’s, it may happen one day (who knows). But you should know it was European countries who blocked it several times if you are going to be a loud mouth troll.
  7. It was European nations that blocked Ukraine’s aspirations of NATO - multiple times. In 2008, 2014 and before the Russian invasion, precisely because they didn’t want to give Putin a reason to go to war. So what the hell are you talking about @cubsfan? Can you please do the very minimum research please? Again you can find this out with one google search.
  8. It’s getting very tiring debunking lies. The first two points are lies through omitting important context. Russia annexed Crimea, Russian separatists started a revolt in Eastern Ukraine, Ukraine tried to put that revolt down and Russian troops joined the fighting. Why is that context omitted? Minsk agreements did not prohibit Ukraine from seeking aid or seeking to join NATO. The third about Biden is a matter of opinion. And it takes about 5 mins to debunk this crap.
  9. What do you mean by ‘supported the war’ Greg? I bet that nobody on this board supported Russian invasion of Ukraine. By ‘supported war’ do you actually mean support Ukraine defending itself? Those are two very different positions. Who here is ‘undermining progress’?
  10. Are you sure the budget wasn’t balanced last under Stephen Harper? So far as I can tell it was in 2014. More importantly, Stephen Harper wears a wig, right? Always wondered. From the UK btw.
  11. I read the most recent comments, nobody said anything like that.
  12. To those that think we don’t need tariffs. How does it play out when the Chinese government stimulates their economy, i.e. provides money to factories like this to produce at or below cost cars, and then floods international markets with them? What happens our factories, our companies, our jobs? I can’t believe that a car company with a net profit of $1.6 bn can produce something like this without massive government support.
  13. 2. If it’s heavy oil etc, how do you rectify that when it cannot be locally produced? 3. Examples? 5. Clearly but the contention is not that wants a new deal or changes his mind but his approach to getting one. 6. Is this even true? Heard 48 pounds was seized in 2024. 7. who cares? It isn’t so much what the ask above is but the manner it is sought. Telling partners your being ripped off, taken advantage of, lousy trade deals (the NA one he negotiated and signed), Canada 51st state, Canada doesn’t work, Canada will be coerced economically etc etc. This is what pisses people off - no mention of it in your post. Nobody gives a crap if it is a negotiating tactic anymore either. Moreover, some of the bluster this time I don’t think is a negotiating tactic.
  14. Yeh that’s a good question. Differs from one person to another, and from country to country. Western Conservatism generally is smaller government, emphasis on self-reliance, family orientated, law and order and from that you get liberty, market oriented economy, strong national defence. I believe it should explicitly acknowledge our unique culture and history, the bad and the good, and seeks to preserve that. I think conservatism should always acknowledge truths, even if they are uncomfortable. Reject radicalism, understand that policies are trade offs between what’s practically and ideology. Lots more to the discussion, don’t want to get into it really. Would need a policy by policy breakdown to highlight differences
  15. Listen, I’d agree with you normally, but is that what you are getting from cubs? No, he’s basically trolling and saying random cultish things. Where is the grey, the context etc? It’s all black and white bs.
  16. I’m not a Republican, I’m not even American lol. I am also not Canadian, so take it my views with a pinch of salt. But I am a conservative, and I’m much more aligned to Poilievre politics and views than the ones the Liberals offer.
  17. There is no point. Trump derangement syndrome is real, but so is Trump adoration disorder. Cubs somehow feels the need to deflect nearly every criticism of Trump and defend nearly every utterance of Trumps. I don’t get it.
  18. I think Trump and the trade war have hurt him a lot but I agree with you on the messaging. I follow him on Twitter and it was carbon tax, carbon tax, carbon tax. But he has spoken about other things, housing, immigration reform, sentencing reform, changing the laws around drugs. He needs to find a new message now that the liberals have finally axed the carbon tax - which was his idea all along
  19. I have to assume you just didn’t bother looking: https://cpcassets.conservative.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/23175001/990863517f7a575.pdf
  20. Trump is not a career politician either, went to Penn, worked in business all his life. Carney is a continuation of all the same stuff Canada has had for the last 10+ years. Advisor to the liberal government. If I was a Canadian I’d choose Poilievre all day, every day.
  21. I’ve gotta laugh at all these ‘tech reviewer’ bros coming out and shitting on Tesla recently. Tesla’s self driving, product delivery, and CEOs claims have been questionable for years. Yet Elon goes MAGA and suddenly these guys find religion? Yeh, sure, the timing is just a coincidence.
  22. Visiting the whitehouse and risking a public dress down in front of the media is hardly appealing. Plus you will likely hear your counterpart say lots of untrue things. I suspect that many simply will keep dealings to a minimum.
  23. I kinda think it’s all bs. Certainly hope it’s not the plan because it’s worse than no plan. Reason why I think it’s bs is because it’s crazy.
  24. They aren’t designed to default, but in 100 years the idea is they would be quite small, both in terms of interest and redemption. Only comparable thing I can think of is war debt from WW2.
  25. Lol, true. I’ve never seen an administration so eager to not be taken seriously.
