  1. [amazonsearch]How Google Works[/amazonsearch] Just started reading this lots of excellent suggestions on growing a business Excerpt from Time Magazine: http://time.com/3425368/google-email-rules/
  2. Embrace Kindle! Reduce Clutter!
  3. I also found that section regarding office distance and minimizing distractions another highlight of the book. It's the debate i'm having with myself on whether I should purchase a Kindle or continue to use my iPad mini retina for daily reading. I find when I'm using my iPad I'm more distracted. I want to surf the web, see which new magazines have been released on Next Issue, etc. I think distractions would be minimized with a Kindle. The B&W photos of his investors staring back at him as an idea for office artwork was ??????? On good days they might look like ;D...on bad days they'll look like >:(
  4. An enjoyable read. I started reading this late last night (11pm to 4am) after watching the Apple Keynote speech. Was really enamored with Guy's philosophy on life. It's clear to see he's very loyal to his friends. I throughly enjoyed the chapter on his first meeting with Monish Pabrai and the friendship that has developed with each other. Highly recommended!
  5. Congratulations Sanjeev! I look forward to your new journey.
  6. Good article on how Iovine and Dr. Dre hustled Monster Cable while developing Beats http://gizmodo.com/5981823/beat-by-dre-the-inside-story-of-how-monster-lost-the-world
  7. What a wonderful evening. I appreciate the hard work Sanjeev and Alnesh put into the evening. I never got a chance to say hi to Sanjeev but spoke to Alnesh a couple of times and he was so gracious and thankful for everyone who attended the evening. I'm looking forward to next year. I'll have to remember to get there earlier for dinner. I was starving but didn't mind as the lineup of speakers was impressive. There's something to be said about being a shareholder of Fairfax. You never have to worry going to sleep at night. Prem and his team are doing a great job day in and day out.
  8. Heads up! Tonight's lead story on 60 Minutes is an interview with Michael Lewis on his new book (Flash Boys). Lewis emphasizes his opinion that the stock markets are rigged.
  9. Heads up! Tonight's 60 Minutes lead story is an interview with Michael Lewis on this new book (Flash Boys).
  10. [amazonsearch]The Joy of Less, A Minimalist Living Guide: How to Declutter, Organize, & Simplify[/amazonsearch] I highly recommended this book in the General Comments suggestion. Like investing it makes you ponder your decisions when purchasing products and the long term effects it can have on your mentally and financially.
  11. I've been spending a lot of time reading up on clutter. The subject fascinates me. The end result will be thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars saved if you practice it. One of the best books I've read on the subject is: The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide: How to Declutter, Organize, and Simplify Your Life http://www.amazon.com/The-Less-Minimalist-Living-Guide/dp/0984087311/ref=pd_sim_b_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1EYWSHPTVXA1D230R8JA Enjoy!
  12. I love using Whatsapp. But paying that kind of money for it is sheer lunacy. I think I'll continue to place my bet on Apple for the long run. They are excellent stewards of capital.
  13. I love my iPad Mini retina. I love lying in bed with it reading my Kindle books and Next Issue app magazines.
  14. Why 100% Citi? Why not some BAC? I like putting all my eggs in one basket. I think Citibank will outperform BAC
  15. I love Apple's Ecosystem. At work I use a MacBook Air. At home I use a MacBook Pro & iPad Mini Retina 128gig (arriving today) ;D
  16. Citibank (100% of my portfolio)
  17. Legg Mason (LM)
  18. I'm curious what Berkowitz's thoughts are on this topic. I have a feeling he's holding a significant amount of cash with the recent sale of shares in CIT and MBIA.
  19. Nowadays I love to read in my spare time. Next Issue has been really great. For tv shows I watch: Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Mad Men. And can't wait for baseball season to begin - GO JAYS GO!
  20. I watched it. I support Icahn. I like his scrappiness!
  21. Just read this article today in Wired: How U.S. will track Afghanistan long after they've left http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/05/spy-rock/
  22. New SKA Telescope Array article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2149928/No-place-ET-hide-Plans-unveiled-powerful-telescope-human-history--3-000-radio-dishes-spread-South-Africa-Australia-New-Zealand.html
  23. I never watch the financial news stations on TV. I prefer the in-depth articles that are provided by magazines instead. I read: BusinessWeek, Bloomberg Markets, Forbes, Fortune, and Harvard Business Review. I'm going to cancel my WSJ subscription and replace it with the NY Times which I feel is a superior paper in both business coverage and news articles.
  24. Great topic. Great mattress - I own a Hastens mattress and it's one of the best investments I have ever made. You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping. I find I am very productive after a good night's sleep. Clothes - I'm taking the approach of buying fewer clothes but of far higher quality. ie- Brax jeans fit better, last longer, and don't color fade as quickly as other jeans. Custom made shirts. I prefer Nike clothing over Under Armor. Comfortable reading chair - Going to purchase an Ekornes Stressless chair. I've found no other chair as comfortable.
  25. My observations: 1) Watching the regular season of North American professional sporting leagues is a waste of time. The English Premier League, La Liga, etc do it best by awarding the championship to the team that finishes the regular season in 1st place. 2) Sometimes living in Canada sucks from a sports perspective. The radio and tv stations talk non-stop about hockey and all other sports are given sparse mentions. Hopefully this will change with the shift in demographics and we'll see a lot more coverage of soccer, baseball, and basketball.
