  1. I don’t know but that’s a great question! I hope someone responds with some info.
  2. Charlie said it was a miracle in 2008 but I can’t seem to find any books about BYD. Anyone know of a decent ones? Also, in English and not mandarin. Thanks!
  3. Ever since I read Charlie’s quote how they should have made a lot of money on pharma, but of course they didn’t, I’ve been thinking of some good pharma etfs until I can do the work to find individual companies. i would appreciate any ideas from the board.
  4. Buffett didn’t mention the gates foundation with the most recent shares given to his children, also, Gates of course isn’t on the Berkshire board anymore (I don’t recall the year he resigned) and didn’t even attend the annual meeting in Omaha last year, at least not that I’m aware.
  5. What did you think? i really liked it but have a couple of minor criticisms (such as anticlimactic ending and the restaurant scene didn’t make sense exposing himself like that) but other than that I wish I could watch a sequel. has anyone read the book?
  6. Anyone know list of when spacs will despac?
  7. I just placed my order. If someone else has already posted about this book, let me know and I will delete this link. ‘Foreword by Buffett, also, Todd is one of the contributors.
  8. Last request, would you mind sending me a pm of the database? thanks.
  9. Interesting, I didn’t think he would do another interview with cnbc as it has been over 3 years, I’m looking forward to tomorrow. 92 and still going strong!
  10. Sky harbour warrants…the common is almost at 9 but the warrants are only 45 cents with 4years almost to ge to $11.90
  11. Did Buffett ever sell some shares of oxy, i can’t recall. I didn’t buy oxy as I was guilty of only doing what Buffett does if I bought the warrants I’d be up over 10x. Seems so obvious in hindsight when oil went negative, I had concerns about servicing the debt but this was a no brainer to put a small amount of one’s net worth in. I wonder if Buffett regrets buying this so late as he did. At least he got the warrants in 2019.
  12. I was disappointed in the letter as well, either Buffett doesn’t have the energy now due to his age (certainly I don’t blame him at 92) or he feels as he has already written about every topic and has nothing new to say. this letter is still better than anything Charlie wrote at Wesco, I don’t think Munger has ever written anything for the Daily Journal shareholders so at least he writes a letter (Buffett).
  13. Can anyone share great web sites for case studies other than HBS? thanks
  14. I bought some shares of a company that completed a spac two weeks ago with a 170k share float on the expectation there will be a short squeeze at some point.
  15. any ideas from the board for someone wanting a little more return than a cd with low risk? thanks!
  16. Thanks for the responses. Odd the richest man in the world doesn't have a decent biography on him. I read some lame ones on amazon unlimited last night. A Walter Isaacson type biography would be great but the French hate capitalists so probably not a large enough market I suppose to buy or there would be at least one decent one out there.
  17. I appreciate ideas for best books on Bernard Arnault. I'm looking mostly for the business part, of course, I've tried watching speeches of him on YouTube but it isn't easy to watch. If I was fluent in French I suppose it would be better, but his English is hard to watch. I find his business odyssey fascinating though. How the hell did this man take over that textile group that had Dior and then how did again pull off that controlling interest in 1989 in LVMH? Now he is the richest man alive. I wish I would have bought the stock in the past.
  18. Any guesses if Costco will outperform tomorrow after earnings? Difficult to get this cheap seems only two options are very expensive or a little expensive and maybe makes sense to buy today before earnings tomorrow.
  19. Not sure if dumb question but does anyone know of books that are good for buying specs or new builds in areas that one thinks will be a large boom over the next 10 years (mostly for ones that are already in development such as expanding roads, lots of new builds, etc) I know to be cautious due to interest rates but this is an area I think I can help my net worth if I move in for two years and keep repeating then rent or sell. I'm not looking for books about flipping, also, I'm not interested in doing repairs on my own although I suppose it's good to know some basic repairs when I'm talking to contractors so I don't sound like a complete idiot and maybe they will fleece me a bit less. thanks.
  20. agreed Parsad, I'm not usually a fan of conspiracies but I thought the Terminal list was very good. The action scenes were intelligent and realistic. It helps when you have a former Navy Seal as the author and a consultant on the set.
  21. I agree. I very rarely short but I put on a short position on the s&P and nasdaq knowing the market may rally near term but the multiples have to come down when you compare to where the risk free rate is going.
  22. I was off 3 years. One joined in 2011 and the other in 2012 so 11 years. My point stands. Over a decade managing billions and not one peep as to their performance.
  23. That's true he put they are managing $34 billion but we know nothing about their track record for the past 14 years managing billions of dollars. Have they lagged the S&P for the last 14 years? If so, by how much? It would be nice to get some information on their track record since they are now managing $32 billion.
