  1. Anything that involves deep sea transport is extremely capital intensive even when business is bad. This is not the same kind of shipping company you're talking about, but these guys have built an impressive fleet of multi-disciplinary service vessels (mostly oilfield). They own multiple US and international shipyards and loading facilities. They also engineer and build high tech proprietary marine products like ROV's and dynamic positioning systems. https://oceantic.org/the-gulf-effect-how-legacy-shipbuilder-edison-chouest-made-u-s-offshore-wind-history/ Edison Chouest, the father of the Cajun Navy

  3. This is the golden age of grifters.
  4. Didn't get my looper autographed because security wouldn't let me bring it in, even though I paid for the VIP meet and greet. However, they were letting in a lot of ladies who were wearing small backpacks (shout out to the sound guy who let me store my looper in his studio next door until after the show). Wouldn't have been a big deal but there were other factors that added to my disappointment. The merch bag was weak (a few stickers and an outdated picture of Marc, and no t-shirt). The opening act sucked. I saw Marc a few years ago in Birmingham and the opening act was bangin', but this time he put his girlfriend up and all she did was fire off samples and hot knob on a bunch of Pioneer DJ gear (she was mid at best). That said, I got down on the rail and made it fun but I definitely wouldn't pay for VIP tickets again, and after this experience I doubt I'd even spring for GA tickets. Marc does not GAF about the fans (GUARANTEED). He spent all of 5 minutes with the 20 or so people who paid significantly extra for the experience, and then he jerked us all off with a weak merch bag, but hey, I did hear straight from the horses mouth that he prefers the RC-505 MKI because it has mic and instrument gain knobs (he needs to be able to set levels on the fly with DAW voices). I'm dawless (hardware instruments only) and prefer the MKII. My gain knobs are on my individual instruments and the MKII has a crap-ton of more useful features over the MKI. You don't necessarily always need to upgrade hardware but in my case, yeah. If I saw him busking I probably wouldn't drop a buck in his tip jar.
  5. I was very reluctant to talk with my Mom about this and as a result, I had no idea how things were set up when she passed. Everything went without a hitch as she had planned well but I feel like I cheated her the joy of talking about her final wishes. There's a lot of pride in passing on your life's work. If anyone else feels like they want to avoid appearing mercenary, don't, let them tell you how they want to pass things on to you. It makes me cry just writing this.
  6. If it weighs more than a duck, just own it
  7. I'm going to Atlanta this weekend to see this guy live at the Variety Playhouse. I got the meet and greet package and will be bringing my 505 (looper) to see if he'll autograph it.
  8. One time payouts vs being pecked to death.
  9. Probably just fat fingered ordering a pizza. /s
  10. The curse of the noid is lifted.
  11. I have a Mac and use keychain and 2FA. If Apple gets hacked I'm screwed.
