  1. How soon we forget...Evidently there's an oil glut now...futures ~$83...energy sector hit hard like financials.

    I guess we're going back to $10/bbl - LOL

Im going to enjoy some getting it up you know where. Where? Well lets just say they will wish they kept hold of some of the actual commodity to make the pain more bearable... having said that, benzene would probably sting!

  2. The only question is when really.. and with what bullets?

They've stated already they have some more unconvential methods but they'll be QEing all the way to the Election.

It doesn't matter who is in Congress when the economy suffers, asset prices collapse and panic sets in.  Both Democrats and Republicans will do anything they can to stem the blood-letting...damn any future consequences if they see their own IRA's diminishing.

They will print when push comes to shove...print all the way and maintain a zero rate policy.  Will it do what they want long-term?  Probably not.  But they will print once they start to panic...just human nature!  Cheers!

My point wasnt partisan (as you know Im Canadian) - I agree and its just the way it is and we could only imagine what would have happend had the previous admin had to tackle it. Im not sure what they would do but they seemed pretty happy to dodge and leave certain areas (the whole auto industry mess) for the next admin.

  3. I'm not sure that the BV moves are especially significant given the stated intention to hold on to most of the debt.

They've stated that many times yet when next earnings report comes out and they may have sold off.

I believe they dont like to show their hand which is a good thing but if they didnt sell they prob went long the other way (equities)maybe sold some debt to pay for its hedge.

Basically that may have been their intention until glorious opportunities or gains come along.

  4. Well, I've been fully invested.  Missed this opportunity.

cant always time perfectly... Its not that I was trying to time the market its just that i didnt see fundamental reasoning to be all in - yes, you cant fight the fed and all that but at the end of the day i have to look at myself and ask did i do what i thought was best or am i just going to try to ride the wave?

And i dont necessarily mean on a macro level.

Greed has a short memory though - seenms like not a conversation goes by where someone doesnt tell me how easy it will be for them to make $ get in and out and all that - just have to watch it all the time right?

oh, ive had to walk away from alot of people haha..

  5. You guys probably wont believe me but im still more than half (alot more) in cash and I havent even purchased down on RIMM yet  :D

I dont know if its worthy but a while back i wrote when the knife drops there is alot of fat to go through (IMO obviously) ie there will be alot of room for panick because there is such a room of questionable gains that the herd may want to get out while they can still profit.

Who knows where the panic will lead.

Again, this is my own opinion so dont read it like im trying to convince anyone of what to do.

  6. The world economy seems to be a house of cards built upon a necessity of ever increasing demand which in turn inspires ever increasing debt.

Do we eventually reach a saturation point where the house of cards will fall?

We did and it did -just a couple years back - yet we are right back at it!

    Have a great one!

  8. haha.. this should probably be the "who bought RIMM ?"thread.

as for YTD, I honestly dont know the exact figure at this moment but i was ahead before my small purchase of RIMM so im thinking still above par in aggreg.

I made some quick moves earlier in the year - i had/have a bad feeling about the economic situation for some time.

Learned from experiences, mine and others that just because the market is going up, doesnt mean you are right.

So I stay to what i think is right and in the long run it almost always works out.

  9. Wow, so many comments:

Tough to have the best record and lose game 7 in your own house. The fans of Vancouver deserved better.

Regrettably, the "fans" were not rioting, those were morons. Yes, of course they had donned Canucks garb (makes for better photo-journalism to be sure) but they were nothing short of morons. If Vancouver had pulled it out, the same numbskulls would have been doing the same thing....they simply want an excuse to be idiots, and this series proved to be the excuse they needed.

Thomas was unreal, absolutely unreal...funny how we have a 2 year streak of the guy who started the year as back-up (Neimi was the backup to Huet for the Blackhawks at the start of 2009-2010) ended up backstopping the Stanley Cup Champs. Luongo's comment about the goal Thomas let through in Game 5 was ill-advised at best, and stupid at worst. It does not even matter that he may have been technically correct, you don't want to give a hot goalie more incentive...and it bit Luongo in the a**.

Really surprised at Ryan Kessler...he was money for the Canucks, game in and game out, for most all of the year and for most of the playoffs. Not sure how/why, but was a statistical non-factor against the Bruins.

Agreed that Kevin Bieksa would be a good captain...heckuva player.

Dear GOD I'd love to have Milan Lucic in a Blackhawks uniform.

Congratulations to the Bruins. Not sure if the best team won, but the Bruins the were the better team in these 7 games.

    -Steve

50th overall, 2006.... so those 2nd 3rd - picks can really mean something.

Im sure the fact he didnt have pretty skills kept him down in the draft.

Would be a C soon if it wasnt for Chara there - he (Lucic) was C for Canadas National Junior team - a pretty big deal.

  10. I think Canucks need just a little more grit.

I think alot more grit from their top players- how do you get Sedins and Kessler (though he is usally pretty gritty) to change their DNA?

    Thats a tough one.

I would really love to know what goes through Gillis and and the coachs mind after that performance.

I said before, Luongo wasnt the problem IMO - he had 2 bad games but sheesh, 3 of the first goals in each game the D coughed it up right in front of him.

Unfortunately, Sedins and Kessler were consistantly absent the whole series.

I still cant believe Bruins are champs - wierd.

  11. If those "Canadians" took their hockey seriously they wouldnt be doing shit like this.

These are obviously not true hockey fans who would go/watch every game. If they were they would have more respect for the game/fans/city.

These are most likely johnnycomelately trouble makers who enjoy seeing themselves in pics even though the ones who are looking over their pics with any real interest are the authorities.

Having said that, though not a die hard Canucks fan, I never did like the ideas of Sedins being Captain. They were really not up to it.  Cant crap on Luongo cause even if he let in one goal on how many of those games they would have still lost.

Hopefully i dont hurt any Bruins fans but honestly, when I see this Bruins team, I dont think Stanley Cup Powerhouse.  I see a team with an insane goalie deserving of all the accolades he gets. They had timely goals but mostly off the oppositon blunders - as Sanj said, all across the board. Sheesh, this team faced game 7 three times! (yea, Canucks did it 2x)

The one guy (on the Canucks) that i have more respect for today is Bieksa. He should have prob been named Captain but i think when they were deciding on who gets it after Luongo, I believe he was in a contract situation?

Canucks have the talent to go all the way again next year- the question is, do they have the heart? Do they learn what the 80s Oilers learned from the Isles?

Next year - should be interesting

  12. I know this is kind of par for the course in this area but really smacks of entitlement for lack of better term.

I would like to hand this thread over to those more fluent in this subject than I.

Looking forward to reading the members thoughts on (as per inteview):

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has delayed for six months new requirements for derivatives originally scheduled to take effect July 16

  13. I havent noticed alot of what was in the above posts but then again, i havent been in as many threads as I was back in the day.. especially since i am holding mostly cash trying to get the proper  temp of the current economic landscape.

Some people need to remember the "information" in these threads is free and no one is forcing to read or accept.

Having said that, looks like i missed alot of shenanigans...

oh, and I'm from the class of "its been too long" :)

  14. Make sure you change your password, or they'll keep coming from your account.

    really? crap!

I had a yahoo and GMAIL email account. The same thing happened to me only in my yahoo mail account. Something called shoppybag emailed all my contacts from my account. I changed the password and it stopped, but eventually deleted my yahoo account and just go with GMAIL. It is so much better with SPAM, I recommend it over yahoo.

    Thanks,

the only thing is i like the way Yahoo is setup - better than GMAIL but i will def change the password.
