  1. Ok, I know this is the most basic of programs but it is all I really need for what I am doing.

I run some charity events through out the year and with this I usually have to come up with some simple graphic for announcements invites etc.

So I basically just find jpeg on the net that serves the purpose and add text as per required.

What I have found is, when I zoom in on areas of the finished product, there are very small pixels of of different colors floating around the image. I thought maybe I sloppily put these in or copied them from somewhere so I meticulously go in to delete them as best I can without screwing up my finished graphic.  I'll save the file and move on.

Well, what happens is next time I open the file I notice these things are there again (not in exactly the same spot). I realize every time I clean it up and save it, they will appear in misc areas again, every time.

So my question is "WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?"

As I mentioned, I know this is a basic MS program but except for this problem, its all I really need.

    Any one have insight?

    Thanks

  2. Question for those using Google Voice:

Is there any quick click button that you can use from your contacts list that will automatically dial your contact without having to always punch the numerical phone number in? Ive got the contacts, phone number in etc but there is no shortcut that i can see.

BTW, I did get one of these

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1126053&CatId=7215

and for the cheap price MAN how clear it is. Its even better than a regular phone for sound since it comes in in stereo. ;D

I called some of my long distance friends and they're like "WTF? The sound is so clear"

Anyway, besides the question I posed above, are there any other tricks to Google Voice that may be helpful

Thanks all for the info up to this point.

  3.

Keep the cash.  While BAC is still very cheap, the markets in general have gone up quite quickly, and the world's problems haven't suddenly disappeared.  Things will get cheaper again, be it the entire market or an individual stock...just wait for the fat pitch.

    I agree

  4. Suzanne Sommers had quite an empire going also.

I remember her mentioning the revenue she generated from a ring she made for JLo when J-Lo and Ben Afflick were to be married.

She produced copys of the ring for retail - crazy how people bought that stuff up.

  5. I use Google Voice, but it is hooked up to my normal cordless headset when I am at home. It just requires this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/OBi110-Service-Bridge-Telephone-Adapter/dp/B0045RMEPI

    Forgot to ask:

How does that set up work if I have Cable Internet (I have cable phone also)?

Currently I believe the line from the cable modem goes to a jack that is 2 pronged(dont quote me) and then the actual phone just goes into the other jack and same as the other hard lines in the house.

Would this Voice Service Bridge and VoIP Telephone Adapter plug into the computer?

  6. Wow,

thankyou to everyone for all the great responses.

Looking at them one at a time:

I use Google Voice, but it is hooked up to my normal cordless headset when I am at home. It just requires this adapter: http://www.amazon.com/OBi110-Service-Bridge-Telephone-Adapter/dp/B0045RMEPI - it works amazingly well (business quality) and Google Voice is free, so it's hard to beat. Also if I am on the road, I can still call / receive calls from the same line by using my headphones and laptop.

So, this one does let you receive calls as well? Its not a deal breaker but just curious.

Edit: just noticed that it does let you recv calls. Am I understanding this correctly?

Man, I must say the stuff that Google puts out is crazy.

Im also interested in all the other info everyone brought forward  - I just need to look into them all.

Looks like quite of few of us are interested to do away with the former Monopolies.

It still hurts when i think about how much they charged me for long distance back in the day when my girlfriend at the time lived only about 100km distance away - and this in Southern On, its not like I was phoning in Sub Sahara Africa.

Any more info I know I and others would appreciate.

    Thanks again

  7. Like most people who still have a home phone - I rarely use it anymore. All Cell, text, email etc etc.

I want to give it its walking papers but i wouldnt mind having something as back up the odd time... when charging or god forbid I lose my phone again and cant find it.

    Question:

    What are you using?

I dont care about low rates for air time as i would rarely use it - Maybe just looking for the cheapest set up. I've seen adverts for some providers but sheesh some of them want you to buy all the hardware etc one time charges blah blah making it more expensive than my cheap home phone.

    thanks for any feedback.

  8. Welcome to the anti-trust zone Apple.  Enjoy the soon-to-arrive government minders.

Remember when Gates had to go infront of Congress?

As crazy as it sounds right now with their revenue and NEt - Apple doesn't have a monopoly the way Microsoft did back in the day.

Neither did Microsoft.  Obviously the barriers to entry were overstated!

Microsoft was way closer to a monopoly at that time Compared to Apple today.

History suggests that there was no (edit: impenetrable) monopoly on personal computers.  There was a monopoly on Windows software, but there's a monopoly on the Coke recipe too.  Yet there is Pepsi, and Apple.

Nothing the government did led to the success of Google and Apple.  That was innovation.

If I remember correctly it wasnt actually the windows software itself rather how Windows Operating software and its arteries were installed on most all PCs out of the box.

  10. When are we going to see a hard landing on Canada real estate?

Interest rates - being this low the Agents keep telling buyers its a great time to buy!

Having said that, my sister just bought a new place just outside Stoney Creek/Winona (Souther On for those outside the Province/Country) and she has had her closing date changed quite a few times.

In fact she was supposed to be in there this September but they havent even started construction yet. Just not enough units in the complex sold. I believe the latest revised closing date communicated to her would be this coming Feb but i cant see that happening. Purchases are not going to go up in the winter.  I did not see her contract but she told me it contains a provision for the builders to delay the closing date 3 times.

  11. Just curious if you had any problems with their interface going through Chrome.

The reason I asked is when i was using IE and then I updated to the newer version, the damn thing would  not let me in and i had to continuously answer all the special pass words etc etc.

    It totally screwed things up.

At that time i uninstalled the newere version and reused the old version and everything was fine.

I am currently using Chrome and i love it though not sure if it will go screwey because of the security stuff like the other version of IE.

so, long winded way of asking the Q but is anyone using RBC online going through Chrome ???

  12. Liberty,  Just curious.  Why did you take responsibility for peter_burke_ceo's post:

tilson listened to the CEO reed hastings who advised him to sell.

I think you meant to say cover his short...

Yes, of course. Sorry. I'm too used to 'long' terminology because I don't do shorts :)

Two topics (the Netflix one and this one) got merged or something it seems because if I remember correctly peter_burke_ceo's post was in the Netflix topic first.  ???

    ---

    Netflix -36% pre-market btw.

No, thats not merged - that is creepy what happened there.

We dont have a double poster here do we?
