  1. Hey guys and gals.

    http://www.officepools.com/pool/boxpool/pick/CKPRQKZ

Its just $20  1/2 goes to the winner and the other 1/2 goes to start up costs for the league.

There are some pretty cool brackets in there - take a look

Heres the link to pick your team

  2. I think it is similar in other even more economically depressed areas such as Africa where they say they have almost no young/teen age suicide.

Im sure it has to do with the rat race.

We keep drawing these lines in the sand of what we think we need etc etc.

The happiest people seem to be those who have very little or just enough to survive yet equality among peers.

  3. I'm not doing it full time but my first though concerning your situation is don't force return on your investment to necesserily happen in that 1st year

    Thats a great point.

I would add, if you are working from home - set in your schedule to go to the library x times per week.

Unless you are super disciplined you will get distracted for reasons out of your control.

Also, dont feel you HAVE to be invested if you dont feel the reward is worthy of the risk.

People forget, investing is really taking the best possible return for the risk associated. If that answer is to just hold cash then so be it.

Dont get romantic about this role.

  4. well.... y'all know i like tongue in cheek stuff  :P  and it gets worse when i get bored so...

I have alot of stuff in my actual watchlist portfolio including those i most likely will never invest in however i still keep it around.

So, as per today only? what is the biggys?

    Me:

    RIM - 4.7%

    MFC - 5.3%

    ETFC - 5.1%

    *small position in RIM

  5.

I am born and raised in Hamilton.  I grew up at East 14th and Queensdale, about 10 minutes from Limeridge Mall. :)

haha... I used to go out with a girl from that area  (name will be withheld to protect the innocent = me :P) and still have alot of friends who lived there

I've done many drives/GO train trips and I know sometimes the 1 hour is if you're lucky.
Most people who commute will only get there in an hour if you use the train but from this side of the tracks its like they have forgotten us. Its a pain to pick it up - must go to Aldershot really

I would say that a Jays game would be worth it to a baseball fan,

I totally agree - very cool place to see a game as it was made for Baseball - plus the surrounding area is nice now - not like other baseball parks that are in the middle of dumps.

Harbourfront is pretty nice, especially after dinner when the sun it going down.

IAgree - similar to what i wrote earlier....

  6.

Hey Smazz, I'm also about an hour outside of T.O. where are you?  I'm in Newmarket.

Ha, Im on the otherside - border StoneyCreek/Hamilton.

Its listed as less than an hour but good luck getting to Toronto from there in that time! lol

About the delis in Montreal it definately was Rubens we were in last time - its not a cattle place like Swarz- its more of a restaurant.

Back to Toronto, they have quite a few Ferry tours through the Toronto "islands" - Ive been on a few way back, a friend and his wife took one just weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

  7. Holy Crap, you cant go wrong anywhere in those cities.

Depends on your age and what you like and who you are with but yea, cant miss in those beautiful cities.

I'll let Locals of both places chime in (Im about 1hr outside Toronto) but Montreal go to Old Montreal for supper - dang I wish i could remember the great steak/restaurant I was at last time there.. Rileys maybe?

Casino in Montreal....um... traffic in Montreal. :-\

Whats the name of the Deli? Swartz or Rubens

Little ITaly, do a supper down St.Laurent.

Toronto, just like Montreal, sooo many places - CN Tower do the new Edge walk! :P

    Distillery District

YorkVille (bring your BRKA shares 8)

Other Restaurants, I cant remember the name - my friend likes Sassafrazz  I think is the name..

oh... im not much help here lol

  8. Thanks Sreenr

BTW, do you know how to add on a one touch history button on toolbar somewhere? without having to go into the wrench each time?

    TIA

Right click on the back arrow on the top left.  The last option is history.

Which wouldn't be any faster. Still two clicks.  :D

For a "one touch history button" you can go to history (chrome://history/) and then add the page to your 'bookmarks bar'.  :)

Thankyou, this is the option I am using now - works perfect!

  9. I have recently switched Chrome on my Mac and it is in general way faster than my previous browser firefox. However, I have noticed that some sites seem to load more slowly in Chrome. www.businessinsider.com is one site that loads very slowly. Have others seen this problem with some web sites?

I found my problem.  If you have "Predict network actions to improve page load performance" checked it can slow down your browser.  I unchecked mine and have noticed a big improvement in speed.

holy crap, from the description its supposed to be faster no?

BTW, I dont see where that option is on Chrome...

  10. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2011/08/31/sp-belak-death.html

Id  like to say his death would not be similar to those of recent - he had a job with preds doing their games already lined up in addition to doing this years battle of the blades. Thats why he was in Toronto (was found in Toronto hotel) to film this.

Tough and nice and great sence of humour - good with the media.. in fact he was going to be a media person.

    Just doesnt fit the bill

We wont know cause for a few days.

Isn't it because it doesn't make sense for an American to shop in Canada because of higher prices and sales taxes? In reality, they probably haven't been collecting much taxes in the past anyway. What would benefit the US more is if they got Canadian Customs to provide a reciprocal $1,000 duty free allowance for Canadians crossing the border - maybe this is what they are after.

I shop many times in Niag Falls NY and in their grocery stores and the only thing that is cheaper in that grocery store is Eggs, Milk and Beer. I'll stick to my orig theory that the amt in duties you collect on small items compared to the amt of resources you use for this is not worth it.

The reciprocating 1000 duty free would be a good idea - but i think it would have had to come up in some kind of unilateral trade talks.
