Resolute Forest Products Commences Takeover bid of Fibrek
KFRCanuk replied to lessthaniv's topic in General Discussion
Got a call at 20:45 from FBK asking me if I'm going to tender my shares to mercer. I told them that i'm going to wait but I would not be submitting them to Resolute. I hold less than 20K in shares. -

I have an appletv2 with the latest firmware on it. It's solid and have not had any wifi or freezing issues. In fact it's jailbroken with http://www.firecore.com Before getting the appletv I upgraded my home wifi router. My house is 1600 sqft 2 story. I had an Asus 802.11G router (with dd-wrt firmware) that was starting to flake out. My router is in the basement and with the Asus I had poor service on the 2nd floor. Upgraded to a Netgear WNDR3700. I couldn't justify spending $100 for an airport. The netgear is a dual band router (operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). I now get wireless all over my house. I'm guessing that the surfboard modem is provided by your particular internet provider. It might be worth while getting another router and connecting it to the surfboard and using that instead. Are you using cordless phones? Those can interfere since they operate on the same frequencies as wireless.

I also suspect that Jim was hard to work with given his history with the NHL. He is no Mark Chipman. GO Jets GO! -

GO Prem GO! I wonder what his unfiltered thoughts are of the company before joining the board, 1 year after he joins the board and 2 years after that. I guess I'll never know. -
I can't believe that I completely forgot about the dividend!

The Big Dig: Fed Data Shows Households Attack Mountain of Debt
KFRCanuk replied to Parsad's topic in General Discussion
I think things are going to get pretty brutal when interest rates rise and people can no longer take equity out of their home because they are either underwater or maxed out already at 80%(In Canada). -
That's quite amusing, since there still has been no terrorist event in the United States where the terrorist arrived via Canada. Even the idiot who planned on blowing up the space needle a few years ago was caught at the border. In fact, all the recent terrorist activity were homegrown in the U.S. or arrived via that bastion of morality and political correctness...Saudia Arabia! Some poor lady is going to get 10 lashes because she was caught driving there a couple of days ago. Talk about the U.S. speaking out the wrong arse! Cheers! Ha! Canada gets a free fence!

I feel that there is a huge pressure going forward to take equity out of your own home in order to spend more. Lenders and social circles make it too easy.

NB merges Commonwealth, Lombard, and Markel
KFRCanuk replied to bluedevil's topic in Fairfax Financial
I'm going to speculate that they are going to merge the business units that they can which should drive the expense ratio down which would then drive down the combined ratio down. -

All season tickets are sold. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Priciest-NHL-tickets-already-sold-out-123156823.html http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Were-not-going-to-say-I-told-you-so-but-123161318.html "Revenue is the only financial issue that matters in running an NHL franchise and at an average ticket price of $82 the Winnipeg club will generate just north of $54-million in ticket revenue this coming season. That’s before they sell a beer or a board sign or TV ad. It’s also in the top half of ticket revenue among NHL teams. The smallest building in the smallest market in the league will make more money off ticket sales than half the teams in the NHL."
