Cubs, Greg, 73Reds, et all...how many of you would support clemency or a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell? She is applying for clemency and there is talk of asking for a pardon. Cheers!

Buffett's final letter (or Annual Thanksgiving Letter which is more optimistic) came out today. Many decades of his wisdom! Be grateful that we have 20-30 more years to garner what we can from Prem...there aren't that many of these guys! Thank you to Warren and Prem! Cheers!

For all here, don't be sad, but glad that your life was gifted with the wisdom of such a man! Like how Buffett was lucky where he was born, we are all fortunate to have been born when he existed and was offering us all of these lessons. "God only knows where I'd be without you..." - Brian Wilson

I had some cash come in and I did buy some...would prefer if it was even cheaper...but it is in nibble territory now. Cheers!

You find it fun to speculate why the stock is down? I'm the opposite. I find it fun knowing it will be 1/3rd more next year at this same time...if not sooner! Cheers!

I agree 100%. Cheers!

Well, I know MAGA has nothing but turds...so do you want my raisins? Cheers!

Chretien started with a big budget deficit of $42B in his first year, but balanced the budget four years later...budget surpluses then continued for another 10 years. Due to the GFC, Harper actually increased the debt per capita by about 12% during his tenure. While not as big of a crisis, I think the whole tariff issue with the U.S. is another period of existential change for Canada...old trading partners deteriorating, new trading partners increasing...so it's natural to have a deficit as he tackles those problems. Let's see what he does in the next four years and that will give us a better idea. Cheers!

Hmmm...I take it back...compared to Vancouver where it is almost unlikely for the average person to witness a shooting in their lifetime (also according to ChatGPT). That leads me to believe that you guys have a big fucking problem with guns and maybe that's where you should start...but it probably will never happen! Cheers! While a precise statistical calculation is complex, the likelihood that a Vancouver resident would witness a shooting in their lifetime is low for an average resident, as firearm-related violent crime in Vancouver is relatively uncommon and often targeted. Key Factors Low Rates of Firearm Crime: Firearm-related violent crime accounts for a small proportion of all violent crime in Canada (2.8% in 2020), and Vancouver generally has lower rates of such crime compared to many other Canadian cities. In 2023, Vancouver's rate of firearm-related violent crime was 23.6 incidents per 100,000 population, a decrease from the previous year. Targeted Violence: The majority of shootings in Metro Vancouver are related to organized crime and gang activity, specifically disputes over the illegal drug trade. These incidents are typically targeted, meaning they do not often involve random victims from the general public, though there is always a risk of innocent bystanders being hit by stray bullets. Overall Safety: Vancouver is considered a reasonably safe city, and most residents express satisfaction with their personal safety. The city has seen significant declines in overall violent crime rates in recent years, reaching a 23-year low in Q1 2025. Geographic Concentration: Crime, including shootings, is often concentrated in specific areas, such as parts of the Downtown Eastside, and the risk varies significantly by neighborhood. Comparison For context, studies in the United States show that 8% of all U.S. adults reported having witnessed one or more shootings in their lifetime. Given Canada's significantly lower rates of gun violence and the targeted nature of most incidents in Vancouver, the likelihood for a resident there would be considerably lower than in many U.S. urban areas. In summary, while shootings do occur, they are not a common occurrence for the average Vancouver resident, and the chances of a typical resident directly witnessing one in their lifetime are slim.

Hmmm, I'm less pessimistic on Carney. He's started the government employee cuts and in a fairly large way. On the municipal level, Ken Sims has started a similar cut in Vancouver, including getting rid of the Parks Board, etc. It's Eby who needs to get the Provincial house in order. Carney is also moving towards less regulatory and tax burdens rather than just providing broad tax cuts...I think that's more prudent than simply moving to a lower tax regime. For example, accelerated depreciation is an excellent start to speed up capital investment. A tax cut would simply benefit capital light companies more than anyone else...but accelerated depreciation increases spending by capital heavy companies now...when it is most needed. Which is more desirable! I think Harper gets a lot of credit for his budgets, but it was really Paul Martin who pushed Chretien to become fiscally responsible and that legacy carried through Martin's term and Harper inherited a very good economy and budget position. I see Carney as Martin-light...more fiscally responsible than Trudeau, but I would prefer if he went Martin-heavy and really made some cuts to get the deficit lower. At the very least, I think Carney was a much better choice than Poilievre and the lot...and certainly light years better than Trudeau! Cheers!

The hyperbole is stifling! The average person in Chicago will never witness a shooting or be shot at during their lifetime. That's just the truth! Cheers!

If the demise of NYC comes, it won't be based on what you are saying, but more likely disruption from technological change. And that change may actually jumpstart other cities to new heights. Cheers!

I would imagine that if Michelin actually covered Las Vegas, it would be number 2 on that list. Cheers!

+1! Although the last sentence could be applied to those that don't like Trump as well. Cheers!
-
That was the primary reason...but it also solved the whole issue of dividends or selling for estate planning reasons. Cheers!

It's easy to short...not easy to naked short. Fail to delivers is not high in Canada...never has been high. Not like the U.S. back between 2003 and 2010. Cheers!
-
It's all cyclical...look at the chart I posted above and see how NY's population was really dropping during the 70's and 80's. What you are seeing in the last decade is normal attrition and growth. Cheers!
-
Yeah, has anyone noticed how New York's population has been dropping since Obama! It's totally dying! Cheers!
-
No, totally agree with you that Trump is worse than any Democratic President...in fact, he's worse than any Republican President! But you only get such a guy when the choices aren't great and the country's population feels there are deep problems somewhere. Trump is a result of his immediate predecessors...pretty much since Dubya, since that is when this deep divide's roots originated with Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Koch brothers. It's like they were Victor Frankenstein and Trump is their accidental monster that has run amok and no one can control...and Americans and the rest of the world are the villagers! Cheers!

Am I? Can you explain why the Russian pee-pee file was false? Why Christopher Steele believed Igor Danchenko...yet Steele never had any proof? When you deny that some culpability lies with Democrats, then you are denying what role Democrats played in why Trump won twice! Not once, but twice! Cheers!
-
Disgusting! Why do both sides keep playing these games. Cheers!

Maybe they are selling...but there is no naked shorting going on. This is just normal movements in the stock...probably some large institution selling. Usually after the quarterly conference call, it takes a couple of days for the stock to rebound. Usually after some analyst comes out and raises their guidance. Cheers!
