  1. Formerly Purchasing Manager with Fortune 500 company then Professor, School of Business in Ontario College system.
  2. Uccmal Ditto. I own all 4. Minimal cash though.
  3. Trevali (tv.to) Zinc production coming onstream in both Peru and Canada when other miners are shutting down and zinc deficit global situation lies ahead.
  4. I continue to hold and like aeg (Aegon), phg (Philips) and ire (Bank of Ireland).
  5. Was 3-5% last week, now 15% and thinking about going higher.
  6. Re IBM, it's the "free cash flow per share" that appeals to me. And continuous stock buybacks. Political mess has created a good buying opportunity in a great company, imo.
  7. Hellsten Tim still owns over 2 million shares according to my findings. In one of his recent reports, I remember him saying he wanted to more evenly balance some of his top holdings. Perhaps that's why he lightened up some.
  8. I agree with Cardboard. GVC. Chou Funds and Templeton also own it.
  9. Bought some MDLZ today on weakness over last week or so. Anyone else buying this or has done some research?
  10. Anyone know if FFH and subs do a lot of underwriting in NE USA?
  11. CM You may be right about Irene, but I'm not sure. MDLZ should be one of the best global snack foods players out there, unencumbered from the slow growing KRFT. Dominant positions in biscuits, chocolate, gum, etc. and lots of takeover possibilities in the emerging markets scene. Morningstar believes it has a "wide economic moat". Anyone done any statistical analysis?
  12. Packer- thank you for your reply. Will check those discussions on your 3. Question: have looked at BK a number of times but not bought. A number of lawsuits against it are my concern. But many "value investor" big names are on board for sure. Do you have any opinion or insight on it? Do you own it?
  13. Leaving aside the U.S. financial equities which certainly look undervalued and have had a lot of play on this Board, am looking for additional undervalued equities in other sectors with significant upside. I nominate the following: ata.to (automation niche, debt free, cash on hand for future acquisitions and drag from solar energy sidestep now essentially complete) spls (beaten down gorilla in its field, corporate business solid, brick and mortar type stock) emc (data storage business growing significantly, recent acquisitions soon to payoff, possible takeover target). Disclosure: I own all 3.
  14. writser Totally agree. Lots of great insights and analysis on this board.
  15. Any other guesses what Larry's buying?
  16. Yes, I am large cap ADRS. For a Canadian, not so easy to do the European small caps. But I have and prefer the small caps in North America. But the large cap European ADRS are very good value right now IMO.
  17. Why all the investment ideas in the US and Cdn markets? Europe is much, much cheaper and better value. Look past all the gloom as Templeton always did. Which ones do you like best? Mine are ABB, PHG, FMS and PRIS.B. to start.
  18. Moore_Capital54 Really appreciate your posts and the insights you provide, especially on gold and fiat currency. Value investors need to take note imo. By the way, care to mention some junior copper miners which you find interesting?
  19. Estimated Profit Beginning to believe you are absolutely right re the bursting of the "bubble" in Fiat currency. As Prem said, Bernanke is out of options. I have mostly cash, some FFH, and some gold stocks. Other than that, not interested in other companies for now; maybe when the S&P 500 hits 700-800.
  20. Worked just fine. Great to have this board back.
  21. Bought some more ATSG, BRK.B, a little FFH, USB (new purchase) and some more WFC. Still have cash left for some more big days down. Thinking someone else may be "loading his elephant gun" anytime now.
  22. This is what I truly don't understand about some who post on this board and especially what the American media harp about all the time (especially Fox Network, the religious right, Tea Party), re the Obama Administration. If they had not acted the way they did in 2008/2009, the world economy would have collapsed. IMO. In hindsight, I am sure Obama wishes they had made a couple of different decisions, but all in all, they got it essentially right. And yet, people target him as a spender and not living up to what was expected of him, etc. etc. Hey guys and gals, he inherited a huge, huge mess from previous Administrations and lack of securities regulation and massive speculation from most of American society (and I am sure from some (a lot?) of posters on this board) trying to make as much money as fast as possible, any way they could. And now, the guy that is trying to clean it up, gets it on the chin from all angles!! Excuse me, but FDR is now one of your most revered Presidents of all time (if you find that statement offensive, read the history books)) but when FDR was making the tough decisions to get the USA/World out of Depression, he was reviled. Sound familiar? I find it very, very sad that people do not seem to know or understand their history anymore; they have so little perspective. They see everything only day to day, and in their own best interests. "How can I win, and good luck to the losers". So sad. Sure, the USA has it problems, not easy ones for sure. But over the next 20 years, would you park your money elsewhere and avoid America? Are you moving your money to Europe? How about Somalia? or Italy? or Japan? and China for that matter!
