^^^ Like Trump said in the SOTU - nothing he says or does will ever be enough for the Trump haters. Even if he brings peace to Europe or helps a 13 year with cancer enjoy his life. There will always be a reason for Trump haters to continue. Look at what fools the Democrats made of themselves in the SOTU.

I certainly understand this thinking. You have a stalemate, so you try for peace, before further escalation into a wider war.
-
I know you hate Trump. No problem. Keep putting a lightweight like Trudeau in front of him and you'll continue to get frustrated. Why would anyone take that moron seriously?
-
Promises, promises. Canada is led by the world's greatest loser. Not really the problem of the USA.
-
Don't care about the money, just ending the war and saving lives. But certainly NO more money to a losing war with no end. This was obvious enough 2 years ago - so yeah, Biden's circle advised him poorly against no negotiations to end.
-
Of course Putin is a warmonger. Warmongers take advantage of weak leaders like Biden. His plan was to keep giving Zelensky money with no end in sight. That's why he got kicked out.
-
Trudeau is your idiot not ours. Why are you allowing him to negotiate on behalf of the Canadian people?
-
No shit sherlock. Like @flesh said - polls are a joke. Keep throwing the up though.
-
And now CBS the Trump-hating pollsters are putting this out: More from the CBS poll on President Trump’s speech last night: -77% support his plan to cut government waste and spending - 77% back his immigration and border policies - 76% approve of Trump’s speech - 76% approve of removing congressmen who interrupted his speech - 74% say his speech was presidential - 73% support his stance on Russia and Ukraine - 68% say it made them feel hopeful and proud - 68% say he has a clear plan to tackle inflation - 68% say he accurately described America’s crime crisis - 63% say he focused on issues they care about
-
That's a very good thing. Gives time for Europe to prepare for the Russian offensive this spring.
-
Absoutely correct. But the warmonger Biden was kicked out of office in favor of peacemaker.
-
I certainly have sympathy for Ukraine - and some pity for Zelensky. A desperate man begs for help - and then HE sets the conditions, which he understood to be non-starters. OF course Trump indicated he would likely end aid - he ran on the position of ending the war - NOT participating in the war. If you understood it - then Zelenksy understood it. Trump's offer was to be the peacemaker and NOT get the US involved in a nuclear proxy war.
-
Very true. It has been made very clear to Zelensky that Trump will NOT allow the USA to get dragged into a proxy war with a nuclear power UNLESS peace talks are first initiated. Big change of US policy that Zelensky & Europe don't seem to accept. They seem to think Obama and Biden are still in charge. Big mistake.
-
Yes, I'm quite sympathetic that he was foolish enough to try and strong arm the President of the United States. He obviously recieved some very bad advice. He has accomplish one major unintended consequence with this act: The Trump administration that did not trust Zelensky turned out to be correct - and now President Trump knows it.
-
I feel sorry for the Ukrainians that they have such a misguided leader to blow up a wonderful deal proposed by the President. I think what really happened since Friday is that the Europeans, who are terrified of getting into a proxy war with Russia - have collectively knocked some sense into Zelensky. That would be a very good thing.
-
Fill me in John. I understand Europe is taking the ball now, which is wonderful. My comment is in regards to Zelensky's quote, where he is caving - whether he has a joint Europe/Ukraine/USA plan in mind or just a Europe/Ukraine plan. His quote indicates (that @james22 posted) he is agreeing to work with Trump instead of making furthur demands that the USA fight a proxy war against the Russians. What exactly did I miss @John Hjorth??
-
Zelensky played his high stakes game and lost. Now he needs to prepare for the Russian offensive this spring or cave completely.
-
Doubled up today.
-
For sure. I for one used to agree with this. I don't anymore. Like Mexico, many residents believe this and want democracy - but Mexico is a failed narco-state, and much of Ukraine is filled with gangsters fleecing the country. Problem is - Zelensky is part of the gangster group.
-
America has learned an extremely painful lesson the last few decades: We can't change the world. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, now this. Trying to instill democracy in certain countries is just doomed. Afghanistan deserved to have the Taliban & Al Qaeda crushed. But we (America) fails in thinking their job is nation building. Completely failed. My thinking of course has changed from what I/we can actually accomplish. As a country, the US needs to stick with it's strategic interests, but more important FIX our own country. We have a multitude of problems. As an example, we're likely to unleash huge resources on Mexico, as they are a narco-state that has done great damage to the USA.
-
Absolutely - Trump is dumb like a fox. - He made it clear, no way he'll let this escalate to nuclear war - He made it clear he's playing the role of peacemaker for both sides, with Zelensky resisting - He wanted the American public to see, therefore they could make their own decision - Lastly and brilliantly, he shook the European talkers to the core - they could back their desire for no peace with $$ and manpower. All of a sudden - the money tree has magically appeared.

Good news, first step in dealing with a problem is to own it: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-03-04/eu-proposes-150-billion-in-loans-for-pan-european-defense?srnd=homepage-americas

It is much better for Ukraine this way. Ukraine has to realize that the country MUST want peace if they wish anymore US involvement. Perhaps Zelensky is not the leader they need. But cutting off aid is a very serious message that Trump means business, regardless of who is negotiating for Ukraine. Better to have the information now, then drag this out for their country. Also, it's very good to be clear with the leaders of Europe what is the US position.
-
There's enough disagreement on this issue now for the USA to just disengage for good. $200B-300B later and a country leader that feels the USA is somehow obligated to his war WITHOUT our input is really the final straw. We should be done. The USA has done Ukraine a tremendous amount of good for the last 3 years. Citizens have had enough. It's Europes war. Huge industrial & manpower base. Time to start the wartime economy. No more USA involvement - no manpower or money. Europe is perfectly capable - it just needs to be done. Strategically speaking - the USA has no business pushing war with Russia when the citizens of this country absolutely have voted against it. We are still a democracy - by the people, for the people. The USA has many, many social, economic and strategic difficulties built up over the last couple of decades - Ukraine is clearly one we don't need. The President is just conveying the substance of this message, but few are accepting it.

Fabulous clip. Thank you.
