  1. BAC is still cheap IF econ grows again. So do C and MS, etc...
  2. Looks we are all pump.. is it time to raise cash?
  3. Guys, thanks for another lesson on how to swing big when the time comes! The other side of the story is have cash ready to swing or courage to switch to better horse.
  4. I am surprised how little u guys put in given how bullish u guys seem.. Or like what percentage u guys put in? Which is the correct one... just pulling your leg. I had around 35% in warrants when they were in $2-2.20 range. I had 2% in leaps as well. I don't think that everyone will have that high concentration but most people, who were bullish on this, will have decent size position. But again decent size position or big position will mean different for different people. I meant if normal position for some one is 2-3% then even 5% will look like like a big position. Some guys are holding more than one bank so concentration will be less on BAC but they have large exposure to banks. Now, we are talking. Congrats - that's a quick 40%+ YTD for u . I have maybe 3% position on this. Similar position in C. Can't complain.
  5. So, BAC pretty much double from $5.. do it mean u double your portfolio during the period?
  6. I first hit 100% notional in-the-money upside in the low $5 range, and I've been adding to it on the way up. A few more pennies and my $10 strikes come into the money, then my $12.50s. >>I first hit 100% notional in-the-money upside in the low $5 range, What's that mean?
  7. I don't have much BAC and I don't have very high conviction on it. I am surprised how little u guys put in given how bullish u guys seem.. like what percentage u guys put in?
  8. i think at this point, it's risky for us not to go with MERC and get that 30 cents more.
  9. Why should one be in a hurry to tender to Merc. We need to show our preferences loud and clear and asap.
  10. Guys, please make sure u tender MERC's offer asap.
  11. BREAKING NEWS: Bald CEOs = growth! dude, msft's ceo is bald already
  12. He looks like Apple's ex and Amazon's current CEO
  13. No, I'm serious. I think that real estate prices correct downwards more slowly because of the bankruptcy requirement and an unwillingness to sell at a loss. If the economics of their situation dictate a change in lifestyle, you will see the impact in credit card debt, auto loans, rv loans, lines of credit, etc. well before you see the impact in housing. It's like Maslow's hierarchy of needs for debtors :P You don't need ppl to throw away their houses to get prices coming down quickly. When there is no bid, a few sell will do the wonder.
  14. Did the gov determine TRE.TO is a fraud? I don't see any specifics on that.
  15. For those that said FBK only worth 1$ or less - I don't know what metrics you guys are using but that's quite a bit lower than I had hoped for. And this POS rarely trade under $1 in its history. You guys know Prem's cost on this? Fibrek is getting pretty pathetic to release something like this: Fibrek: Proud Partner of the Carbon Footprint Québec Pilot Project http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Fibrek-Proud-Partner-Carbon-cnw-1193360464.html?x=0
  16. I added to SHLD twice in December, (stock and LEAPS). http://mevsemt.blogspot.com/2011/12/kmart-smart.html and http://mevsemt.blogspot.com/2011/12/more-sears.html nice move. that's a quick 800% gain. Congrats!
  17. The title of the thead says "Fairfax's action on Fibrek - is it fair to the minor shareholders?". Who else are you talking about? Cheers! okay, let's say Prem loves the deal but does it mean it's fair to us? okay, let's say Prem thinks FBK management sucks (which I agree), does it mean it's fair to us?
  18. look, you miss one key pt, this 60% partner refused a superior offer before he accept the 1 dollar one.
  19. I understand that it's all business and the plan is to maximize profits for our own stake. I am not whining - FBK is only a small position for me (less than 5%) - All I want is to see what various board members think about some of the tactics different parties used to win this battle. And are those tactics fair to us minor shareholders?
  20. Guys, I was on the fence with Fairfax tactics (okay, slighty -ve) on this one until I saw the news that says they refuse Merc's higher offer to takes ABH's lower one? That would only benefit us if we are all ABH's shareholders but it's not the case here. Uccaml, we all know this is a cyclical stock, look at the current earning won't give us full picture and you know what's coming to FBK in next couple years. We've waited so long for the power contract and RBK to become cost-basis, etc... only to sell out at 1 buck (if they still keep buying at 1.2-1.3 to tender back to ABH at 1 - we will be eventually be forced to sell out.)
  21. how does what prem thinks and the pps related to this being fair or not? and how does it matter whether we are greedy or not?
  22. for those who think FAIRFAX is being fair? Please leave your reasons here.
