Parsad Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Interesting article about Prince Alwaleed. I don't think he has anything in common with Buffett except being a billionaire and reading Berkshire's letters, but it is interesting to see how he fashions himself as an equal counterpart. Cheers! http://preview.bloomberg.com/news/2010-05-17/buffett-and-the-prince.html
Rabbitisrich Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 It also shows Buffett's political instincts in maintaining relationships with people who may or may not be personally insufferable.
Myth465 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 If you have named yourself the Buffett of the xxx. Then that speaks volumes.
claphands22 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I would have a very hard time investing with a manager like Alwaleed. This guy has remarkable status anxiety which probably makes it very difficult to make independent investment decisions. Also this guy seems to be always out-and-about, when would you ever have the time to sit down and read the 10K/Qs investors need to read before making an intelligent investment choice?

Well, he has a huge entourage, so I would guess he's got at least 14 MBA's on his staff to do that for him. Plus, he's so busy designing the tallest office building in the world. ;D Cheers!
beerbaron Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 He was interviewed on Charlie Rose a few months ago for those interested. http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/10825 It's kinda crazy to call this guy Arab Buffet, it's seed money was nowhere near Buffet. BeerBaron
Buffeteer Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 An Arab Buffett? C'mon. Its Saudi Oil money he was given and made a few good concentrated bets, but got burned trying the same moves again.
