OH he's getting way in the weeds.  Meeting individually with the GEICO tech people.  I bought the decentralization/Roman empire stuff.

I guess Greg is telling everyone that he really knows his stuff.

I also find Greg more willing to publicly talk about areas the company needs to improve.  He does give praise but it seems a bit more guarded.

Ajit is awesome. I would love to hear him answer more questions.

That activist girl represents exactly the kind of thinking that got Trump elected. We need to find a way to cut off the oil and gas to all these ignorant people who think Berkshire is "destroying their future" by using it. I'm curious to see how long they'd last. It seems Californian thinking has reached the Midwest.

I don’t think that is mannerism.

it is probably a neural condition. That wasn’t there couple years ago. Or was there but it is worse.

You know what I think one of Buffett's most important qualities is? He can stare directly into the deepest, darkest abyss, spending an extended period analyzing and understanding what is actually happening, and ultimately come to a logical conclusion without going crazy. I imagine this quality also extends to alternate contingencies in his mind where he visualizes the outcomes of potential large mistakes, which is likely why he very rarely makes them. I've found that many people are unable to do this; they usually spiral in one of two directions: complete collapse or the arrogance of saying, "That could never happen."

Haven't been able to watch the meeting today, but did look at the Q1 numbers.  I see Pilot has slipped to a pre-tax loss for the quarter.  Has there been any discussion of Pilot at the meeting?  Pilot has been a bit of a disaster since the purchase and I'd love to know if they've discussed what the near-term outlook is and when/if that core business can turn around.

According to the 10Q, they are related to losses from commodity hedges.

Yes.  There's been similar language in the 10K as well.  But, in 2023 Pilot had Revenue of $51.7 billion and pre-tax profits of $968 million.  FY 2025 they had revenue of $42.2 billion and pre-tax profits of $192 million.  It's been a steady decline in the business with very general discussion of why.   And Q1 has slipped to a loss. That's a bit concerning for a business Berkshire paid over $13 billion for.  Will eventually listen to the meeting; just curious if it has come up.

Seems to be in deep turnaround/restructuring. If they manage to turn it around, there should be quite a lot of operating leverage.

I think exactly as @Xerxes. This 'mannerism' is like a gay man, who sits and has an urgency to show off how beautiful his fingernails are manicured. The way he tries to keep it under control is that his hands constantly seek each other, to keep the shaking of both hands under control.

No talk about Ajit Jains runway, by the way. 💡🙄

Ajit is clearly a very intelligent person, but let's be honest, who the F fitted his suit?

As someone with a neurological disease myself, I don't find it funny at all, but I admire his determination to keep working and suffer fools in spite of it all.
