Junior R Posted Friday at 05:02 PM Posted Friday at 05:02 PM Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada's NDP, has announced that his party plans to vote no confidence against the Liberal government. If this occurs, it could trigger an early federal election next year. This development is seen as positive news for Canada, which has faced nine years of economic challenges. A Conservative majority government could lead to tax cuts and policies that might stimulate the economy, potentially mirroring the U.S. model. If this news is confirmed and not just another of Singh's speculative claims, a strategic trade would be to invest in TSX-listed stocks like Suncor Energy (SU), Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ), Canadian National Railway (CNR), Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), Fairfax Financial (FFH), and other undervalued Canadian stocks. This could shape up to be one of the best investment opportunities of 2025, provided no political delays disrupt the potential early election. What are your top TSX stock picks if this scenario unfolds? This could offer better value than U.S. markets, given the abundance of undervalued stocks in Canada!
Jaygo Posted Friday at 06:39 PM Posted Friday at 06:39 PM Imo a basket approach is likely best. Everything is beaten down so hard that picking one over the other may not be the way to go. I love the XEI index as its rebalancing seems to mirror the "dogs of the tsx" portfolio strategy. The issue with XEI is you dont get any of the quality basket like FFH, Dollerama, TRI, X etc. ZCN is probably the best etf for US investors
TB Posted Friday at 08:16 PM Posted Friday at 08:16 PM Canada doesn't look cheap looking from price/gdp point of view but the loonie may be bottoming out at this price point. https://companiesmarketcap.com/canada/largest-companies-in-canada-by-market-cap/
Lazarus Posted Saturday at 04:45 AM Posted Saturday at 04:45 AM Canada has high debt, out of control housing issues, and horrible leadership for the past decade. With Trump threatening tariffs, Canada could easily have a recession. I'm Canadian and prefer to invest in the US market.

Dalal.Holdings Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Amazing watching leftist regimes collapse one by one. It only took many years of bad decisions to compound. Shows the power of compounding.

The conservatives in canada are as far left as the Democrats in the US and are actually far LEFT vs even the conservatives in Europe. In other words, the labels do not do justice to the fact that it is all a gradient and Canada is still too left for its own health.
