Lupo Lupus
On the risk of becoming a pariah in the forum: can somebody recommend a good book on technical analysis? (lets say I need it for a good "friend" and not for myself!) Preferrably one that does not just lay-out the strategies but also explains the rationales behind them (eg behavioural foundations or even value foundations). Any suggestions are appreciated! Cigarbutt
Technical stuff is required reading in the CFA material. I thought the specific chapter in level I did the job. Otherwise, for flavor, there is also: https://www.credit-suisse.com/pwp/pb/pb_research/technical_tutorial_de.pdf Disclosure: not using any of this but I seem to remember that there can be hope after despondency. I still always keep my eye out for the double loop de loop as a strong signal to stop looking at stocks, turn off my computer, and go to bed. Cigarbutt
"I don't remember any technical analysis in level 1." When I did it, I think it was near the end of the "quantitative" section. That's also where I learned about regression.

AtlCDore
Take a look at books by John Murphy. I can't vouch for how good it is/isn't since I have never been a TA guy but traders I was around always read his books.
