I wanted to start a thread to begin a collection of industry primers that everyone can add to.  Hopefully we can make this a sticky.

This post defeats the purpose of having individual book reviews...it goes on the "General Discussion" area!  Cheers!

Sorry Sanjev! We were talking about a list of industry primers in another thread and thought this might be a good place to create the list.

Thanks for sharing.  You might want to look into these:

For Media:

The Curse of the Mogul

http://www.amazon.com/The-Curse-Mogul-Leading-Companies/dp/1591843901/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399907822&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Curse+of+the+Mogul

On Oil & Gas valuation:

http://www.srr.com/assets/pdf/oil-and-gas-company-valuations-business-valuation-review.pdf

https://samples-breakingintowallstreet-com.s3.amazonaws.com/72-BIWS-O&G-Valuation.pdf

And I personally think Sam Walton's Made in America is a good book about consumer retail as the story tells you what's the most important in that business and how to do things right (in a broader sense).

Thanks, this is good.  I'd also recommend the OCC's books on the subject:

http://www.occ.gov/publications/publications-by-type/comptrollers-handbook/index-comptrollers-handbook.html

and

http://www.occ.gov/publications/publications-by-type/comptrollers-handbook/ots/ots-exam-handbooks-capital.html

These books are how regulators look at bank capital.  And at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how a regulator views a banks capital.
