  1. So you think 47 pounds is the same as 21,500 pounds? if you think it will ever be zero, dream on, but 41 pounds is getting close. How much comes in through American ports, airlines, etc ? Bet it is a bit more than 41 pounds. But Cubs, you miss the point, it has nothing to do with drugs. It has nothing to do with the border. It is all about excuses for an economic war against your neighbour. And you are "perfectly comfortable with Trump's border policies." ? Do we have a fentanyl problem? Yes, the same as the US does. You guys sneeze, we get a cold. And what you are quoting was Canada's direct response to Trump's request. Then, because we took a number of steps to keep him happy he turned around and slapped the tariffs on anyway because it had NOTHING to do with the border or drugs. Trump has made it very clear that he wants to annex this country and has told our people exactly that. You guys are so busy thinking that he is the great peacemaker and all the while he has Canada directly in his sights. If you think not, do some research. He has told several of our leaders exactly that.
  2. Funny how quickly Cubs and Greg switched the subject from this post about Trump lying from the White House. Keeping in mind that the "Ongoing flood of fentanyl " from Canada was 41 lbs vs 10 Tons Mexico Mexican border. OMG its a flood, call FEMA, throw out some paper towels ... And you guys don't see anything wrong with this, well Y'all must be just so proud.... But in case you missed it ......... ADDRESSING A NATIONAL EMERGENCY: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order increasing the tariff on Canada from 25% to 35%, with the higher tariff set to go into effect on August 1, 2025. Canada has failed to cooperate in curbing the ongoing flood of fentanyl and other illicit drugs, and it has retaliated against the United States for the President’s actions to address this unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States
  3. Who is beating what to death??? LOL You and NATO Tell me one more time how much you hate Trump while you are at it! I don't hate Trump, I do dislike him because he has a major problem with the truth and I think he is not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. But we will see. I think Putin is playing him like a cheap pianoand he is sucking it all up, just the same as he did about those beautiful letters he received from Kim Jong Un. But if he can put together a lasting peace in the Ukraine without giving away the farm, than I will give him 100% for that and all respect due.
  4. Cubs is busy, perhaps I can answer for him. Those are all fake polls published by the fake media. His actual numbers are almost 100%. The numbers are beautiful. We have never seen numbers this high and we soon expect numbers in the 2-300% range, perhaps as high as 1400%!
  5. Cubs you have been beating this to death. Just wondering if you have ever heard of NORAD? Perhaps you might want to brush up on that and consider Canada's part in defending the USA.
  6. Unfortunately the link doesn't open. But I can see that you didn't seem to get my point But just so you know, that Trudeau guy doesn't work here any longer, he was an idiot so we fired him some time ago. Perhaps you guys might do the same. Did you miss my previous post regarding the massive amounts of drugs crossing the Northern border justifying tariffs?
  7. THE LIES................................................ July 31/25 from the White House "Fact Sheet" ADDRESSING A NATIONAL EMERGENCY: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order increasing the tariff on Canada from 25% to 35%, with the higher tariff set to go into effect on August 1, 2025. Shortly after returning to office, President Trump declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to address, among other things, the public health crisis caused by fentanyl and illicit drugs flowing across the northern border into the United States. Canada has failed to cooperate in curbing the ongoing flood of fentanyl and other illicit drugs, and it has retaliated against the United States for the President’s actions to address this unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States. In response to Canada’s continued inaction and retaliation, President Trump has found it necessary to increase the tariff on Canada from 25% to 35% to effectively address the existing emergency. Goods qualifying for preferential tariff treatment under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) continue to remain not subject to the IEEPA Canada tariffs. Goods transshipped to evade the 35% tariff will be subject, instead, to a transshipment tariff of 40%. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The TRUTH: Last year, about 19 kilograms of fentanyl was intercepted at the Canada-U.S. border, compared with almost 9,600 kilograms at the border with Mexico, where cartels mass-produce the drug, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Canada 19KG = 41 Pounds Mexico 9600KG = 21,164 Pounds or approximately 10 Tons ! No comment regarding the amount of drugs and weapons coming into Canada from the U.S.
  8. There is a LOT going on behind the scenes to which you seem oblivious. But here are just a couple of little examples. For many years Canada has been the United States's biggest customer for your industries. Canadian importers are now constantly shifting to new markets to replace US exports to Canada because from Ketchup to Tractors Canadians are checking label and refusing to buy anything that says "Made in USA". The US may find shopping around for new customers not as easy as it seems, given the additional shipping costs and other country's retaliatory tariffs. That will cost American jobs but it takes time to show in the statistics. Canada is/was by far the United States largest source of international tourists. Canadians now realize that we are no longer welcome in your country and airlines are drastically chopping flights between Canada and the US. Check the billions that Canadians have been spending in your tourism industry - and those billions employ a LOT of American's and mom and pop local businesses. This all takes time to filter down into your unemployment and financial numbers, but it will eventually add up. We have yet to get to the yearly mass Canadian migration to Florida and Arizona. It will be interesting to check your tourism figures this winter as more Canadians may choose Cuba, Mexico, Asia and Europe. But here is the point: These actions are not steps being taken by the Canadian Government. For the most part these are individual personal choices made by individual Canadians because of the way your present administration and many on the US Right are treating Canada and Canadians. And while many in the US have been expressing regret for the situation, don't tell us, tell your government. PS. This BS about the 51st state and referring to our Prime Minister as "Governor", is most insulting to every single Canadian, and is not to be taken lightly. We feel that Trump is 100% serious in his desire to annex our country. And if he can't strangle us economically he will attempt to do it forcefully. To our American cousins: You voted for him, you are responsible for his actions. End of rant. Government responses for the most part are yet to come. But unfortunately the people who will hurt most by this are the workers in the US. You only have to look at the snide and sarcastic responses on this board to get a feel for the way the US right wing presently views our country. And this is primarily due to a President who always has to have a fall guy for his distractions from his own agenda, and it seems that Canada is the victim. The outright ridiculous lies he tells about Canada are only believed by those who are ignorant of the truth. Just Google "Trump's lies about Canada" as they are too many to quote here.
  9. Thought you had moved to Newfoundland.
  10. Haha. Just kidding. I know you are just concerned we might attack. But have you given thought to becoming Canada's 11th province? Free health care, no need for guns, almost no mass shootings, great weather (for a couple of months), etc....
  11. ALLY? Really? Your country has threatened to annex our country and conduct an economic war. SOME ALLY!
  12. What, you are a clairvoyant now?
  13. I was following that discussion closely and nobody said what @whiskybravo suggested. Think he was just being a little 'obtuse' - or perhaps it was the Campari spritz talking.
  14. Get over it Cubs, we got rid of that asshole. But since you mention it, how do you think we are supposed to meet NATO commitments when your country has stabbed us in the back and is attempting to wage an economic war on our country?
  15. "You can't trust Putin, but you do have to deal with him. That is reality." That is quite true, However, the problem is you can't trust Putin OR Trump. Trump is an outrageous liar and he is also notorious for ripping up agreements. So, since past history shows that both are liars and you can't trust either one of them, even if they come to an agreement, how long would it last?
  16. Sounds like a good idea. And while we are at it, considering the high percentage of Hispanics in the Southwestern States and their linguistic and cultural ties to Mexico, giving those states back to Mexico would probably resolve all those border problems.
  17. Think that's an insult to a fine engine.
  18. Still waiting for an explanation for this statement.
  19. Remember when Donald Trump bragged about his cult? "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters." ? Found one of them.
  20. What on earth are you talking about?
  21. Kinda sad when some here can't even conceptualize the situation the average guy with a young family is in and how the prices at the local supermarket are rising and will continue to do so. But wait, there are some here that, just a few months ago, were pontificating that there would be no inflation.
  22. Well I guess one could always choose not to eat and nor use toilet paper, etc......
  23. Does that mean you get a pension now?
  24. When it comes to this sort of stuff, like a couple of others here, I simply let Mr. Bradstreet do the worrying and assume he can keep his excellent track record going. My opinion doesn't make any difference to anything or anyone. Having said that, posters exploring the pros and cons is educational and informative so please keep at it. Bottom line though, is that no one knows where rates are going to go at this point. My concern is that that Mr. Trump may be building a 'house of cards' and his tariffs are going to raise prices. Rising prices is the definition of inflation and higher interest rates usually result. As one who paid 17.5% on his mortgage back in the inflationary 1980's, all I can say is, buckle up because things could get nasty. JMHO.
  25. "Trump is going to stack the Fed with a bunch of yes-men/women. The big move will be replacing Powell. When that happens, the Fed Funds rate will be coming down, likely fast and by a lot. " ............................................................................................................................................ Yeah, I heard rates could be coming down by up to 1400% !! Sorry, heard so much bullshit from you know who, I'm expecting a pronouncement to the effect any minute. My sarcastic inner self is hard to hold back these days....
