  1. Added Kweb. Might be hard to add after a 30% run up, but if China is serious about playing nice, risk / reward looks good. If I’m wrong, I’m sized so it doesn’t hurt me too much.
  2. I’m rather new to the investing game, but I imagine that given your age and the number of productive years ahead of you, investing in your career or business will probably be the best payout in the long run. Dabbling in multiple asset classes might be a good learning experience, but I’d argue that finding an area where you can develop an advantage and crushing it would probably give you the best returns. Opportunistically diversifying into investments outside your core field could also be useful, but I would only target those if you see a fat pitch, or want build competency in that field. Building the muscle to being opportunistic is key here. I think building enough knowledge to being good at spotting opportunities is all you need to make outsized returns. But I guess take everything I say with a grain of salt. This is just what I’ve observed and I’m still trying to get to that point after a late start in life.
  3. It amazes me the reputation Prem has built, that given the current BB setup, there is significant doubt on whether he will capitalize on this situation. I haven't been following Fairfax long enough, or know enough about its history, but what would you describe Prem's investment style over the last 5 or 10 years? Is it coherent enough to give confidence at his ability to return reasonable rates of returns in the future, or even in this situation? Are the last couple of years really just bad luck or bad decision after bad decision? Is he really learning from his mistakes? The market has given him a huge gift, and if he can't even capitalized on this, what assurances do investors have that future decisions won't lead to him to find new ways to lose money or opportunities?
  4. Thanks for the additional input everyone. Looks like I have some work ahead of myself.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm excited to dive into them.
  6. Any recommendations on books or resources to get a better in this area? Particularly something with a deliberate process or structure when analyzing financials / key metrics (ex. ROIC, GM, etc). My due diligence on the financial side is lacking. I know basic metrics like P/E, P/B are not enough. I've primarily been focused has been looking at the bigger picture, strategy, product positioning, and competitive advantages, and I feel like I am not diligent enough when looking at the fins, capital structure, credit, etc. Anyways, thanks.
