I think the Fulton County voting irregularities is a great example of how 95% of the population are completely unaware of what the issues are and what is going on. This is due to a complete lack of media coverage other than "Orange Man raids Fulton County". All voting was stopped in the middle of the night due to a "water main leak", which turned out to be fake. Then a few people came back in and pulled some boxes out from under the tables and started counting votes. They were ON CAMERA scanning the same ballot multiple times. Who cares about one county in one state? This happened in six or seven states in very similar fashion. How many states used the Covid emergency to bypass their state legislature and allow mass mail-in voting (illegally)? Why does it matter now? This will be all the support we need to clean up our elections and get rid of electronic voting machines and demand voter ID in every state. Maybe the states shouldn't be in charge of federal elections?

He has the right to a conceal carry. That right comes with the responsibility of carrying his id and his conceal carry permit. He did not have these on his person according to DHS reports. He was still breaking the law.

oddly enough, this is very optimal but maybe not very empathetic.

I think Canada is onto something. If you euthanize the sick and elderly there's huge health care cost savings.

Trump won the election by a popular majority even with all of the cheating from the blue states. Get over it. There are far more people who disagree with you than choose to engage you. Maybe they have better things to do with their time.

wake me up when there's an actual picture or video of Trump (or anyone else) committing an actual crime.

I know all of you guys get your news and opinions from Fox News and MSNBC, but the Epstein files are starting to blow up on twitter and reddit. Apparently the idiots in the DOJ used Adobe to censor the files, and the un-redacted text still exists as a layer underneath. Very entertaining stuff.
-
I think releasing the files makes years worth of blackmail and honeypot operations worthless overnight. The most likely explanation in my mind is the people behind the blackmail operation (CIA\Mossad) don't want to lose control of their puppets in power. Trump is almost certainly compromised by Israel, but I don't think by Epstein. If all else fails, they will just threaten to end your entire blood line.

what is the average iq in Toronto vs Chicago. better yet, what is the average iq of the subset of the population in Chicago committing the gun violence? my guess is its pushing 80. the mental health issue I think people blame for the mass shootings.

Maybe to reduce risk for 401(k) owners the Fidelity's of the world will create mutual fund products containing hundreds of crypto-tokens, coins, and the like in order to reduce risk for the retirement saver?

am I the only one wondering how you could spend $2B+ on a remodel?

Just trying to wallpaper over this story:

Most Americans can't read at a 6th grade level. Most Americans didn't take finance in K-12, and can't perform basic algebra.

He doesn't offer audited returns, and his claim about turning $1000 to over a million was done with options during the 1990's bull market (his words). Not easily replicated. Promotional? Yes. But his message and approach is good for the beginner value investor, in my opinion.

no politics, please.

You sound like me 5 years ago on the Bitcoin threads.

I think Watts Barr unit 2 is a close analog. Construction resumed in 2007 and completed in 2015 with a total cost over $6B (estimated to cost $2.5B). This was also almost two decades ago, so expect costs to be higher now. Watts Barr was the same overall design and vintage to TMI. I'm guessing it would take at least as long and who knows how much it would cost to restart TMI compared to WB2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_Bar_Nuclear_Plant
-
I can't help but see the nonsense in the response to this headline. There were two units built at TMI, and the one which did not have the incident has been operating non-stop since 1979. MAJOR upgrades are required in TMI unit 1 to bring it up to regulatory standards. All are doable, but it won't be quick or cheap. I've seen headlines saying this is the first "shuttered" nuclear power plant to be brought back online in the US. Also false. The stock pops in Constellation Energy and Vistra seem ridiculous.
-
It's very simple. Natural gas.
-
That's different. The nuclear power plants absolutely respond to the grid operators (and always have), but it's the reactor operators moving the power level rather than the turbine and generator automatically adjusting to load changes on the grid. Big difference! In my experience this situation was fairly rare, but I didn't operate in a de-regulated market like most of Exelon plants. From your citation: "The site receives the signal on a computer in the Main Control Room, operators confirm the dispatch signal with the Constellation Generation Dispatcher, and then a Nuclear Regulatory Commission-licensed Senior Reactor Operator at the site authorizes the load reduction. Reduced power is maintained until a dispatch signal to raise load is received."
-
In the United States nuclear power plants do not load follow. It is not allowed. They operate all or nothing. They may operate at reduced capacity due to maintenance limitations, but they are generally operating at 100% output.
