  1. Starter position in QXO
  2. I'm long GLASF as well (~4-5% of my portfolio). How have you maintained comfort with your concentration level (not only given the somewhat speculative nature of the stock, but also in light of the recent raid)? Thanks!
  3. Curious if you’ve given this one a read yet and have thoughts? Looks interesting, and I will likely order. Thanks!
  4. I’ve looked at it a bit (there’s a lot of chatter on it on Twitter), but don’t know crypto well enough to decide whether it’s a good investment. Here is a helpful starter post for people to get acquainted though:
  5. Could someone who selected more than $100 please explain their selection? Is this driven by the Eurobank impact? And is this referring to economic earnings per share?
  6. I'm new to this thread, so apologies if this has been discussed, but curious if anyone has a strong view on Bittensor. This is an interesting video with Barry Silbert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=3qIL4oCe1Uo&t=1570s
  7. Figured I'd revive this thread, as I view it as an interesting topic and the conversation is dated (the last response was from 2016!). I'm looking for ways to supplement my income through side hustles. Curious if anyone has thoughts / suggestions on what has worked well for them.
  8. How material is your position? Just curious how you think about position sizing given the commodity risk.
  9. How are you thinking about your 3-5 year base and upside case?
  10. Bought more MKO.V / MAKOF this morning @SafetyinNumbers
  11. Also curious why Topicus over Lumine? I think Topicus has a larger TAM / investable universe and likely a longer growth runway as a result. Is that your take too? Thanks!
  12. Swapped GRUSF for GLASF
  13. Starter position in MKO.V
  14. I thought I had read somewhere that PNP.TO and ELF.TO are PFICs. Could someone please confirm / refute? Thanks!
  15. Great names and nice overlap with my portfolio. I don’t currently have any exposure to the Constellation Software family. Curious why you would weigh CSU so much more heavily than TOI? My concern with CSU is size / length of runway. TOI has a much smaller market cap and more room to compound from over time in my opinion. I’m leaning towards starting a position in TOI on a pullback, but hard when it’s always at all time highs…haha
  16. Thanks everyone. One follow-up question: would someone be able to confirm that Fairfax does not have PFIC issues for US-based investors? I believe just Fairfax India has PFIC issues.
  17. Do you have to take any action on your tax returns to facilitate the withholding being credited back?
  18. Very helpful, thank you!
  19. Great, thank you! What is your understanding of capital gains tax? That's my bigger concern given that the dividend is relatively small.
  20. Hi All, I'm a US-based investor and own FRFHF (US OTC) in a taxable account. While I have not sold any FRFHF to date, I am just trying to clarify my understanding of tax treatment. Dividends: Canada withholds 15% of dividend income, so US-based investors receive 85% of dividend income. Capital Gains: FRFHF is treated just like any other US-domiciled security traded on an exchange due to a tax treaty that exists between the US and Canada. My biggest concern is potentially being double-taxed on capital gains, but I do not believe this is an issue. Could any other US-based FRFHF investors confirm or refute my understanding? Thanks in advance for your help!
  21. I'd love to get into this space, but it's been a challenge given the valuations... With the market pull-back, curious if anyone has been starting / adding to their exposure? What valuation is fair / attractive for the BROs and AJGs of the world? Will valuations compress once the hard market ends, or are insurance brokers less exposed since they're not underwriting the insurance? Thanks!
  22. What's your rationale on this one? I was in PINS for a while based on the thesis that the platform could be monetized with ads since it's a "product-based" social network. What I learned is that in periods of distress (e.g., 2022), there's a "flight to safety" and more proven ROI on ad spend via Meta and others. I like the financial profile of PINS (e.g., limited or no debt if I recall), but think there are much easier hurdles out there.
