  1. Don't forget being a Cubs fan! YOU REALLY NEED TO APOLOGIZE FOR THAT! Cheers!
  2. Well Greg isn't...Cubs...eh? No, Cubs is no Nazi...just a cult leader! Cheers!
  3. Billy Bob Thornton playing Billy Bob Thornton is always interesting! Cheers!
  4. Sleep Country Canada to revive the Bed Bath & Beyond brand in Canada and possibly the UK. Cheers! Sleep Country Canada to revive Bed Bath & Beyond | Watch
  5. I did not know actor Michael Shannon was touring with his friends doing covers of REM's "Lifes Rich Pageant". At one stop, REM briefly reunited and sang with Shannon and his crew. I was fortunate to see REM live with Radiohead in Vancouver 20+ years ago. One of the great concerts I had ever been to and one of the most under-rated rock bands. Cheers!
  6. Good for you and the foundations! Cheers!
  7. First two episodes of ST was a bit slow...but then it ramps up and takes off! Episode 4 was possibly the best episode in the whole series with several easter eggs setting up the final four episodes! Cheers!
  8. Glad you waited longer than me! Hope you did really well. Cheers!
  9. Credit where credit is due, even if I don't like the way he does many things or his asshole-like behavior! Talking about Trump, not Dell. Cheers! https://finance.yahoo.com/news/michael-dell-unveils-6-billion-gift-to-trump-accounts-at-white-house-154201188.html
  10. I totally agree with that. My comments weren't meant to demean the lowest tax brackets...that's the last thing I would ever do. My point was that Canada was always a land of opportunity...it wasn't easy for my grandfather, nor even my mother and father, but became a bit easier for me, my brother, and certainly my niece and nephew. I recognize that same trend in my family, friends, associates...each generation builds a bit so that the next generation can get ahead. That's all I meant. There aren't that many countries in the world that allow that type of progression, even with their mistakes in governance. Cheers!
  11. That guy is funny! Cheers!
  12. Greg, you do know exactly what an unforced error is, right? It's when you make your own mistake! Are you saying Trump made a poor decision? Cheers!
  13. Well, we all know what Venezuela is, right? He's stirring shit up to push his agenda and distract from everything else...tariffs, Epstein, record low polling, probable large losses in upcoming mid-terms, etc. The playbook is pretty much routine now! Cheers!
  14. Hi SD, I agree with most of that. But as each generation moves forward, in most cases, things are better for the following generations. I'm comparing the environment how it was for my grandfather, then my father, then me and my brother who is much younger, and now for my nephew. It's never easy, but each generation seems to move a bit more forward. This trend continues with our friends and neighbours, other family members, etc. Things slowly, but surely get better each generation. Each faces different obstacles, but opportunity is there and their financial position is generally better than it was for their parents. I'm not suggesting that everyone has it easy and great. Only that the bulk of the population will see improvements each generation...mentally, physically, financially, etc. Cheers!
  15. Hi Richard, I'm very sorry for your friend! Unfortunately, this is not a problem solely with misallocation of resources, but massive demographic changes. We (PDH) warned both the NDP and Liberal health ministers over a decade ago that they needed to accept some expansion of private healthcare to help offset the changing demographics. Neither accepted our argument or wanted our help...they just didn't want to risk or even allow any discussion that could impact universal healthcare. Our director, Dr. Simon Sutcliffe who used to run BC Cancer, and previously Princess Margaret Hospital, had expansive discussions with both governments on several occasions. We suggested ways to reduce diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients and they both decided to go their own way. The NDP government had to eventually accept some of our suggestions a few years ago as they expanded PET/CT and MRI imaging within BC. We had suggested that private clinics would take the burden off the public system and they could be implemented years earlier. We also had expansive discussions with Triumf and UBC to expand the development of radio-isotopes in BC rather than buying them from Ontario, Quebec or Alberta. They rejected our initial ideas but then ran with them years later and adopted them. So unfortunately, a lot of this is just fewer taxpayers for every senior citizen in the system and the government's desire to avoid private healthcare facilities as pressure release valves. Cheers!
  16. Actually, I'm not. I'm looking at all of the people in the generation below me and below them. While owning a home is more difficult, they have huge advantages that many of us didn't in earlier generations. First of all, I would never say that! Food, fuel and housing are not up solely due to immigration. You're bitching about taxes and the like, yet you don't want to pay more to fund health care and housing initiatives. Every administration goes through one half of the citizens complaining about how taxes are spent. When they are spent on food, healthcare, policing and infrastructure, you bitch about we're overtaxed and how funds are misallocated. When they are spent to reduce taxes and deregulation, the other half bitches about how money is not being allocated to food, healthcare, policing and infrastructure. Basically, one half is always bitching about their sacrifices and how money is being wasted! My point was that this just cyclical in politics in general. Some of those items are important to a large percentage of the population...not necessarily me, but others. Just like lower taxes might be on your agenda, but may not be important to others who don't have enough food on their table. What you call waste might be important to part of the population...your fellow citizens! Then what the fuck are you doing here? You can easily go to another country you think is better! Hospitals are crammed not because of misallocation of dollars, but because of demographics. You have 3 taxpayers now for every citizen, compared to 7 to 1 30-40 years ago. The system just doesn't have the resources, no matter how much you tax the system to try and improve it. The only release valve would be to increase private healthcare and the governments have been resistant to it. https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/understanding-changing-ratio-working-age-canadians-seniors-and-its-consequences What the hell are you afraid of? Are you xenophobic? Diversity in Canada works better than almost any other region in the world. Canada is far better for it! You're acting like Canada is entering a Depression or decades of stagnation...none of which is true!
  17. Frankly, people should be able to make money and do well under whatever government is running Canada. There is no excuse...just like businesses should be able to compete and thrive under most governments. If you can't, then there is something wrong with your model, competitiveness or operations. Nearly all businesses have to pivot to thrive. I'm not sure my opportunities were any better or worse under Harper, Trudeau and now Carney. The vehicles to get me to financial freedom, as well as the majority of Canadian people, are there. Everyone has the opportunity to develop themselves, find work, save money and pay their fair taxes. Things like owning a home aren't a guarantee. Paying low taxes aren't a guarantee. A left or right leaning government isn't a guarantee. I do get universal healthcare...that is guaranteed. I do have access to non-taxable vehicles to build wealth...RRSP's, TFSA's, etc. My family has access to a decent education. I have rights that are guaranteed and preserved. I have a social safety net when there is a crisis...that is guaranteed. Bitching about Covid policies when hundreds of thousands of lives were at stake against a virus we did not have enough data on? Silly! I'm not sure there was ever a time any nation celebrated mediocrity...those policies, including what is called "woke", "dei" policies, are just a result of progressive movements...it's cyclical...just like regressive policies are now being pushed. I think Carney is a centrist, even though many, including those that hated Trudeau, keep piling him into that group. If you work for a Prime Minister, your job is to push their agenda and policies...look at Trump...no matter how stupid the policy, they are pushing it forward! So, the political environment is often cyclical and over time things balance out. Canada is one of the great nations in the world. I'm privileged to be here and I think the majority of Canadians have a decent quality of life. And that gets better generally with each generation! Cheers!
  18. Sorry John, I have to agree with Rainier! My Mom who lives with me loves Netflix and watches pretty much every movie/series on there...not matter how good or bad. So I HAVE to subscribe monthly for her. Me personally, I would do what Rainier does...subscribe only occasionally and then cancel. Outside of a few of their unique productions, the majority of their stuff is garbage and the movies are generally available on Amazon as well. Since I'm a Prime member, Amazon's streaming service is free. I would rather subscribe to Apple's channel than Netflix! Cheers!
  19. Malala Yousafzai comes to my mind. She was just a young girl when it all happened. No privilege, not an asshole, and still as humble as ever! Cheers!
  20. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-2-trillion-plan-cash-152214289.html Ukraine and the riches that will flow to Trump and his cronies! Cheers!
  21. Hahahahahahaha! Charlie Kirk...the most famous political activist in decades! Fuck me...the world has gone bananas! Cheers!
  22. The irony: The Afghan terrorist that shot two National Guard soldiers that is being blamed on the Biden Administration was actually approved to stay under Kash Patel and the Trump Administration! But let's not talk about that...just blame Biden...probably will blame Hillary Clinton as well! Everyone except themselves! That's what Trump tells each of his wives..."Sorry, she just fell on my dick and kept hopping up and down! Whoops, now we have Tiffany!" Cheers!
  23. You consider a beautiful piece of land "wasted space"? I'm not against a ballroom, but some architectural preservation and relevance to history would be nice, as well as something that doesn't make the actual White House look like an outhouse next to the sheer gargantuan ballroom! Cheers!
  24. Well, he must of done a good job of kissing Trump's ass, because Trump made him Chair of the Joint Chief of Staff back then. Also, as usual, your hyperbole is wrong on Milley: https://www.war.gov/About/Biographies/Biography/Article/614392/retired-general-mark-a-milley/ https://www.reuters.com/article/fact-check/contrary-to-posts-on-social-media-general-mark-milley-has-extensive-combat-expe-idUSL1N34Q1IN/ https://www.factcheck.org/2023/02/gen-milley-has-long-combat-history-contrary-to-social-media-posts/ Do you actually fact check everything you read, or do you believe it wholesale? Cheers!
  25. The circus has definitely moved into Washington...Barnum & Bailey live in the White House! Should be something to watch the UFC on the south lawn. This is like out of some crazy ass satirical movie...nope just another day in reality! Cheers! https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/mamdani-reveals-strangest-thing-saw-090547218.html
