  1. Canada was also not a major source of drugs and fentanyl into the U.S., but it didn't deter his broad narrative on how it was so! Cheers!
  2. The Constitution actually is meant to deter/prevent any dictator or monarch ruling the United States...no King of Kings! Cheers!
  3. Plus, no one is talking about Epstein or inflation today! He's getting exactly what he wanted...make his MAGA faithful believe he's doing this shit legally without starting more wars...ignore Epstein and goals that aren't being achieved...get control if not agreements for Venezuela's resources, as well as probably new contracts and agreements from most SA countries. Cheers!
  4. It's a good thing...but is it legal? The U.S. was not at war with Venezuela...no UN initiatives or sanctions against Venezuela...under what directive is this legal and not an act of war? I'm happy he is gone...but again, the U.S. is doing things that if not crossing the line, it certainly is straddling them! Cheers!
  5. The fact remains, most of us would never have known anything about Ben Graham or Charlie Munger if it wasn't for Warren Buffett. It was Buffett who made buying stocks calculable...not the "buy what you know shit", etc spoused by others. Buffett expounded on Ben Graham in a way that allowed the individual to value stocks similarly to bonds. Combine that with all the lessons on business, insurance, float, accounting, etc...Buffett shared his knowledge in a way that very few others did. No one would have paid attention to the Daily Journal Corp...there would never have been an "Old Charlie's Almanac"...etc. Munger didn't seek notoriety and would never have been as well known. Buffett gave Munger his platform...and we are lucky that he did! Cheers!
  6. I thought Colm Feore, as Nate the lawyer, is absolutely hilarious in a relatively subtle way. He's a fantastic Canadian actor that could run circles around everyone on that cast, but took a smaller role. And while the quality isn't like Yellowstone's earlier seasons, you have to say that the one-liners are absolutely hilarious...especially coming out of Billy Bob's mouth! Cheers!
  7. It's the beginning of a sad era for me...and probably many on here and outside of here! Forget about things like "The GOAT", etc. This guy was just the best fucking teacher I ever had! Outside of my father, no one has influenced me or my behavior as much...Prem and Francis come close. He had a direct effect on saving my somewhat worthless life at the time, redirecting my career choices and gave me the opportunity to do something that I was exceptionally good at...for the most part! Forget the fact that my financial independence and what I've been able to do for my family was a direct result of his teachings and influence. From the first word of the BRK 1998 Letter to Shareholders when it first became available online, he has shaped my thought process and given me opportunities I would never have been able to achieve on my own. He's not an idol to me as some are suggesting that is being worshipped...just the best teacher I've ever had...and he didn't even know me! Cheers!
  8. That he can be...Cubs has the monopoly on that though! Cheers!
  9. I'm not sure Greg was being disrespectful. I think that's just the Billy Bob Thornton in him coming out! Cheers!
  10. That last bit is important in particular...money is far down the list once you have enough...to put food on the table, shelter your family, stay ahead of your bills and cover education/healthcare expenses. Until then...after God (for many, not me) and family, it is probably the 3rd most important thing in a person's life! Cheers!
  11. Nukes are just guns on steroids! The whole intent is for both of them to kill and to act as a deterrent. The days of guns were for protection and hunting are long gone...the Wild West died out a long time ago! And the majority of gun owners in the U.S. are not hunters. Cheers!
  12. Canada thread. Cheers!
  13. By the way, I'm merging this thread into the Political thread, since it is so fucked up now. Cheers!
  14. Yes. If you want an apples to apples comparison, my cousin who has been teaching for 20 years and has a masters makes about the same in Vancouver as Marco's example in NYC...she will have a similar pension as well when you include school pension/CPP/OAS. Toronto would be comparable. But probably lower in Calgary and other cities. So salaries are dependent on cost of living in which city you work/teach. On top of that...you don't have to carry a gun! Cheers!
  15. That just such a stupid phrase...I get sick of hearing it from every NRA member! How about "Nukes don't kill; people do"...every fucking country should have nukes. Hell, every citizen in the U.S. should be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. That's the logic you are using! Cheers!
  16. Yeah, but where the hell are the illegal guns coming from? Out of state, and generally those states with lax gun regulations! If it's not federal and enforced, it doesn't matter what any state does. Cheers!
  17. I think what Richard is trying to say is that if you draw your weapon, chances are the perp will not only draw his (if not already pointed at you), but fire a number of rounds until all of the blood in your body has seeped onto your carpet or floor. You may get lucky and he may hesitate, but generally he's got the drop on you if his weapon is already drawn. Not to mention one or both of you may shoot innocent bystanders including your own family or friends! That being said, if I was in your shoes, I probably would want that opportunity to get the drop on the perp if he looks away or gets distracted. One to protect my family, two to protect myself or anyone else around me. But that's the difference between Canada and the U.S. We have very few non-targeted (targeted meaning gang related) shootings. Whereas you guys have a shit load! Now many of us ascribe that to your gun culture and crime rates, but the fact is that many of our cities have high crime rates, and far fewer shootings. I don't mean less...I mean negligible compared to many U.S. cities on a per capita basis. So either American's and their criminal counterparts are excessively violent while possessing guns, or the access to guns and oversight is extremely lax! I'm pretty sure its the latter! Cheers!
  18. We have a riot every time the Canucks lose in the Stanley Cup finals...3 times, 3 riots. Also went through Covid...no one here still needs a gun or felt like they needed one. Also, a gun wouldn't have done you much good during 9/11...especially if it had been nuclear or biological in some form. Greater chance that one of your kids accidentally shoots a friend or family member while playing with it when you're not home. Cheers!
  19. Damnit...I opened the door to Politics on here! Ok Greg, let's go back to the Politics thread...my bad! Cheers!
  20. C'mon cwericb! You know Canada has far fewer illegal criminals from South America...far fewer black people. Hellllloooooo! Even with Justin Turdeau's million immigrant march during his tenure, we still have far fewer Somalis eating dogs in Fort McMurray. Heck, even refugees don't want to come to Canada because we've had slower GDP per capita growth over the last decade than the U.S. Plus most refugees are against DEI and other progressive notions like universal healthcare, welfare, food banks, peacekeeping, good public schools, etc. Canada is in the dumper and has a very dark future...saw it on Youtube and Russel Brand's latest Turning Point gig! Cheers!
  21. From what? Also, gun ownership in Canada hasn't been banned...just restricted to certain types of firearms and background checks. There's a lot of things right with the U.S., but there's a lot of stuff that is wrong as well...they could do better like everyone else. Cheers!
  22. Well that was a mistake...Trump makes a lot of them and this was one of them. CUSMA is the most appropriate and accurate! Let's go with that one. Cheers!
  23. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2025HLTH0090-000915 https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/article/less-concern-us-doctor-explains-reason-for-moving-to-manitoba/ It's not always about money. Cheers!
  24. Again, you are taking pieces out of specific books or videos. There are similar books or videos touting other arguments. As I've mentioned multiple times, there was a way to reduce the trade imbalance while avoiding ultimatums/tariffs and it would have worked far better and had better long-term results...Buffett's trade certificates for importers/exporters. As for the 2% guideline...I agree with that...NATO countries should be spending more. Cheers!
  25. USCMA...uh, US-Canada-Mexico Agreement? Duh! Actually, I suspect the US Country Music Awards might have an issue with that...although, that's just CMA. Cheers!
