@cigarbutt I've always had huge respect for you, unlike some others. Please don't take offense at my comment. I happen to believe in Cherzeca's view. I think the CV19 situation is very much under control in the USA - and we should get back to work - with proper precautions. I'm fine with masks, social distancing and washing hands as the new normal until we have a vaccine - maybe a year off? The elderly and immune compromised should be isolated and protected - period. Let people make their own decisions. We are destroying lives and the economy. I'm a simple guy. There is much we DON'T know about CV19, but we are certainly handling it much, much better than a few months ago. Isolation, suicides, alcohol/drug abuse, child beating, etc, etc, are the other side of the coin. Good luck quantifying it - but it's happening. So many people I know are flat out depressed - still. This is being handled well - let press on with reopening - and stop legistlating nonsense. There are many, many areas of the country where this is not much of a problem. Rules for NYC do not make sense for the countryside. What went from making sure the healthcare system is not overwhelmed, has morphed to let's stamp this thing out and wait for a vaccine, until we reopen. That is economic and societal suicide in my book.

Too simple, makes too much sense...

So 7 Covid fatalities yesterday in NY, and none in NJ - and the State and City still locked down?? No, that is not politically motivated. Let's destroy more livelihoods.

What do the great minds on the board make of this claim: Bullshit? Or Has merit?

Ha! Great when it's going down! ..

Being Chinese, I love all types of carbs, rice, noodles, pasta, bread, etc. Heck, I love food in general. But carbs will literally sap hours of productivity from me. I am amazed how I used to get work done in HS. The sheer amount of carbs that I use to eat is terrifying and I am surprised that I am not diabetic. I mean literally a 1/2 to a whole quart of rice for lunch and dinner. I would almost pass out after lunch everyday. Protein and fat do not affect me the same way. But I have notice that feeding in general takes away at least 2 hours of productivity due to preparation and the stupor/need to veg. Ha, I need to look into Rucking. BG - I know you used to wrestle - and assume you are still working out occasionally. I'll mention what helped me a lot. Keep some of those carbs as fuel that will help you build muscle. Try protein supplements - pure protein like Optimum Nutrition's 100% Protein Isolate. Use it as a shake. You get 30g protein, 1G carb, no fat.. It's great stuff - try it for a week - 3 shakes a day. Especially have one when you are a little tired/losing energy. Before a meal is great. It hits your system right away. Helps suppress appetite. Lots of protein with no fat or carbs. Great stuff for a training/weight lifting regiment. Been using it for 3 years now. Very happy with the transition from fat to muscle - and a lot of energy. Check it out. You can get the stuff at Costco. Premier Protien liquid works real well if you are too lazy to make shakes. On a training routine - you want 1g of protein per pound per day. So 200 lb guy should be getting 200g protein. The hard part is how do you get the needed protein without the fat. This does the trick. Just an idea.

Can you expand on how deaths are being covered up? It's my understanding that individual States are responsible for reporting deaths to the CDC. We live in alternative world these days. ::) What I heard from a friend who is a San Diego ER doctor said his friend is an ER doctor in NY and that they were forced to write death cause to be COVID, for pretty much any death, even including gun shot death. The death number is inflated so the NY state can get more federal funding for this. I have been told this by 2 doctors directly. One of them actually mentioned a figure, like $35,000 per patient.

Boy is that ever the truth! If you weren't in line with the board's orthodoxy - you never heard the end of it! I remember having all the "experts" explain to me why CV wasn't happening in the southern/western states due to the heat. One of many jokes.

Good to see the USA dumping The Who: https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-united-states-will-withdraw-from-the-world-health-organization Effective next Monday, the United States will no longer be a member nation of the World Health Organization, the White House announced Tuesday, ending the U.S.’s involvement in the global group, which President Donald Trump has claimed conspired with China to hide the true extent of the coronavirus pandemic.

Excellent - thanks for the comments too!

Hmm.. this is interesting: https://saraacarter.com/who-admits-it-was-never-told-about-covid-by-china-instead-found-out-from-u-s-data/ WHO Admits It Was Never Told About COVID By China, Instead Found Out From U.S. Data A quiet change to a timeline of COVID events in late June shows what many mainstream media outlets and government officials have denied for months: China didn’t inform the WHO about the outbreak. Instead, on December 31, “a translation of a Chinese media report about the outbreak is posted to ProMED, a U.S.-based open-access platform for early intelligence about infectious disease outbreaks,” according to a U.S. Naval Institute report.

Psychology of Misjudgment #7. Kantian Fairness Tendency
cubsfan replied to LongHaul's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I love this.. especially Marlon Brando's #3 "Try not to enjoy yourself too much" LOL -
Now you can call it the New York Virus. No need to rename it - the ChineseVirus will do just fine. It's from China.

I concede. You guys are right. Cuomo for President. With him running the country, by now, all the nursing homes would be empty - because all the residents would be dead! Have it your way.

This is how they roll. Just look at the "scientists" they find that agree with them on climate change (while dismissing what is a consensus on the opposing side). Astounding level of delusion and/or intentional effort to mislead. Amusing that he says "lockdowns are too expensive". Now watch most of Europe move on from this and leave the U.S. in the dust while we struggle with our "isolate elderly" strategy and economy continues to take a long term beating even without lockdowns... If we follow the lead of folks like this, it will lead us to our doom. Tell me about it - kind of like your own "hero worship" of Mayor De Blasio and Gov Cuomo - NOW there are two real leaders that handled this well! Yep they could have done better, but I think Cuomo did well considering the hand he was dealt, though some mistakes were made with a never before seen Pandemic. He's doing a good job with the reopenings though. De Blasio is a clown though and I've said that from day one. Now I challenge you to say one critical thing about your God-Emperor Trump & this Pandemic...[crickets] Yeah, good thing Cuomo stuffed all those poor sick people into those nursing homes, causing the most deaths in the country. Great job Cuomo! Wow that hard for you to say one bad thing about Trump, huh? Sad! The Trump Brigade from the Politics section with their sharp, unbiased analysis as always! Come to rescue their own whenever they sense danger coming in the way of their savior... Ya’ll are making CoBF Great Again just like you made the country! A paradise of prosperity! Good thing your hero Cuomo wasn't President - think of the death toll with him running the country. You just never learn!

I'm sure you blew past the part that notes Dr Atlas is a scholar in public health. But then again, you're the guy that thinks Martin Luther King is really Al Sharpton. So I shouldn't be surprised.

Here is an attempt to quantify the "Costs of the Lockdown": https://www.hoover.org/research/doctor-scott-atlas-and-efficacy-lockdowns-social-distancing-and-closings The Doctor Is In: Scott Atlas and the Efficacy of Lockdowns, Social Distancing, and Closings: Dr. Scott Atlas is the Robert Wesson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, an accomplished physician, and a scholar of public health. For several weeks, Dr. Atlas has been making the case in print and in other media that we as a society have overreacted in imposing draconian restrictions on movement, gatherings, schools, sports, and other activities. He is not a COVID-19 denier—he believes the virus is a real threat and should be managed as such. But, as Dr. Atlas argues, there are some age groups and activities that are subject to very low risk. The one-size-fits-all approach we are currently using is overly authoritarian, inefficient, and not based in science. Dr. Atlas’s prescription includes more protection for people in nursing homes, two weeks of strict self-isolation for those with mild symptoms, and most importantly, the opening of all K–12 schools. The latter recommendation is vital for restarting and maintaining the economy so that parents are not housebound trying to work and educate their children. Dr. Atlas is also adamant that an economic shutdown, and all of the attendant issues that go along with it, is a terrible solution—the cure is worse than the disease. Finally, Dr. Atlas reveals some steps he’s taken in his own life to try to get things back to normal.

now that is the best post on this entire thread. +1

More ridiculous regulations from the LEFT: https://nypost.com/2020/06/23/oregon-county-issues-face-mask-order-exempting-non-white-people/ Lincoln County, Oregon, has exempted non-white people from a new order requiring that face coverings be worn in public — to prevent racial profiling. Health officials announced last week residents must wear face coverings in public settings where they may come within six feet of another individual who is not from the same household. But people of color do not have to follow the new rule if they have “heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment” over wearing the masks, officials said.

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it and a lot of folks are of the same opinion. Been hearing the same from Orthopa for weeks.

Please JM - this is real data and requires too much common sense, which is usually ignored here. +1

Aren't they planning a large political rally tomorrow? I think protesting police brutality and corruption and racism may be a cause worth taking risks for, but getting on stage to get some narcissistic supply may not rise to that level... Of course! The Hypocrisy of the LEFT speaks once again! Justify the nobility of rioting/protesting/looting in addition to a dozen murders while spreading the disease unchecked! Beautiful! Thank you.! I'm not left, and there's plenty of hypocrisy on both side. You're the one who seems to be ignoring that fact. It just happens that the left isn't in charge of the executive branch right now.. Well, the right isn't either. Trump is just about Trump, not about any specific ideology (he used to be a democrat, right?). But if you can't tell the difference between a civil rights movement and a political rally, maybe check your biases and blind spots. There were protests in Hong Kong too.. Sometimes you have to take risks to fight for something important that may have long-lasting, historical impacts. What a frickin' pile of bullshit from you! Yeah - "civil rights movement" ala "Martin Luther King" - what crap! MLK NEVER presided over rioting and looting. It appalled the man. The greatest civil rights leader in the country, MLK, would be turning over in his grave listening to Al Sharpton, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill de Blasio, Farrakan, Maxine Waters and all these other race baiters justifying these riots and looting. You don't know the difference between civil disobedience and anarchy/violence.
