My resolution is to pray 5 times a day to Warren while facing Omaha. Do you guys think that is enough?

My biggest hit was selling out of AWILCO when I saw day rates declining, oil majors spinning off old rigs, insiders selling, no obvious guarantee of cash flow in the future...Can't believe I even bought that crap.

17% up for the year. Yay. I feel the concentrated vs diversified debate is silly. Some stocks are meant to be concentrated, if they are great compounders, others like your net-nets, spinoffs etc. should be held in basket portfolios. If you do a core-satellite strategy, you can have your cake and eat it too!

As of now, 17.53%....will probably be in the 15-18% range.

What helped me was the "brute force" method. I read and reread every single chapter about 3x. First read through was a general read, second time in excruciating detail, then a third time to go over anything I missed, then did EOC and moved on to the next chapter. But I am dense, and a slow learner, so more intelligent people can find easier ways of studying.

Yeah, I found them very valuable in learning the material, especially as someone who didn't major in finance. Most important thing - sleep as much as you can!

Maybe your kid can get a free ride to UPenn if you move to Philly? I assume that is where the job is.

I would take the Schweser exams, and drill questions 10 at a time, and immediately look at the answer rather than taking full practice exams. Better for instant feedback.

Certainly isn't mine ;) I think it's on a mid-teens look-through PE which given the quality of the businesses and the capital allocation is absolutely fine by me. So what is your estimate of FV?

I think the move is a good idea, since the child is a toddler, it will be an easy adjustment. I think if you are doing well in your career you will be happier, and it will spill over to other parts of your life. If you are an ambitious person, then you will want to reach your full potential. Plus Philadelphia has really bad public schools.

Where will YOU be happier? Children will adjust, but are you going to regret not taking a great job? My father gave up the chance for a great job to settle in a place which was more comfortable for us, but I feel he regrets it now, but he wasn't a doctor, so it's different.

HOw are you guys defining oil servicers? Is this oilfield services, or just any suppliers throughout the energy chain?

Sigh. Drops in input costs is NOT the same thing as "deflation", which is much broader and systemic. The latter is not good news.

I may increase my position in DNOW. They seem to be planning a roll-up strategy, so I believe struggling oil prices will suit them just fine.
