  1. BNSF is probably temporarily impacted by the West Coast port labor slowdown issues causing major congestion in the whole logistics infrastructure.
  2. So.. beyond the philosophical debate, how can we invest and make money off this? Like many industries, I figure at some point a couple of players will start to grow,consolidate/roll up, and dominate the industry to the benefit of their owners/shareholders.
  3. That's great. Such a simple idea. I hate scrolling through edgar. Thanks. I like the layout by filing type they do. What do you use gurufocus for mostly? I know it wasn't directed to me but I like the 10 year financials and ratios all on one page. Similar, I like the 10 year financials, various ratios and valuation tools they have as well as a quick showing of guru/insider holdings. Also, like the various screens they have.
  4. CoBF, gurufocus, valuewalk, valueinvestingnews, google finance, cnbc, seeking alpha for their market currents
  5. 30K to 300k since 2009 without contributions... that is impressive!
  6. Congrats to both! Great stuff and good representing ROC Packer!
  7. I think the opportunity in the BAC warrants were a factor as well. The Citi warrants didn't seem like they'd ever make money imo.

  9. That's pretty crazy... although at $200M, he's still wildly rich.
  10. King Icahn is a good biography. It's a bit dated as it was written in the mid 90's but gives a good story of his career and life to that point.
  11. I've always liked Tilson's articles and interviews. This one as well. Thanks!
  12. Any change search functionality can be improved? Would be great to be able to search within specific topics/threads which I don't think we can do now.
  13. I echo the many congratulations and appreciation mentioned before me.
  14. Reading both damn right and snowball, you'll see lots of names beyond just Rick's that seemed to be frequently involved in Buffet or Munger's early deals but were rarely mentioned later on.
  15. 29.5% for me for 2012. Many thanks for this board!!!
  16. I think I read his brothers and sisters are still alive in their 100's as well. Quite the family.
  17. Can anyone post the text of the article for non wsj subscribers?
  18. Yea... the hostess shelves at the market was empty when I went over the weekend.
  19. Did he say all excess returned to shareholders? I thought the tune he's been singing was roughly 1/3rd buybacks, 1/3rd dividend, 1/3rd reinvestment
  20. Yep, he's mentioned it a few times that he's going back to a more concentrated allocation. He gathered the real lesson to be learned from the drop in 2008 wasn't more diversification but rather keeping more cash instead.
  21. I think there is definitely a place for the schools... maybe less so the generalized ones, but the specialized ones like the technical/trade schools, nursing/physician assistant schools especially fulfill a need out there.
