  1. it's really quite sad, considering you can buy stocks with NO commissions if you live in the USA, with Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Fidelity, etc... We are just so far behind.
  2. Just pray you find a foreign stock that has an ADR...lol In fairness and full disclosure, you can use IKBR, but as previously noted they are limited as to which accounts you can hold foreign stocks. So I guess we are roaring into the 1960's
  3. welcome to Canada's financial system, roaring into the 1950's. I use CIBC Edge, they charge around $200 to buy on a foreign exchange.
  4. This past year has been very hard on many. Very sad to hear this news. Mental health doesn't get the attention it obviously deserves. RIP Charles
  5. try TIKR.COM not sure if it will meet your needs. I have no affiliation with TIKR, other than I use the basic service.
  6. I basically don't trade much...do you mean level II quotes and such? I don't need any of that.
  7. Thanks KC. I see they charge a quarterly fee for RRSP accounts...that could add up, with several accounts...I wonder if they waive fees if you bring over a certain amount of $$$.
  8. seriously thinking of moving everything to IKBR (Canada). Those of you using IKBR in Canada, can you easily connect your IKBR accounts with your regular bank account? Any issues moving $$$ back an forth? Can you participate in the securities lending, for extra yield, with IKBR in Canada? Can you hold an RESP at IKBR ( haven't seen reference to that type of account at IKBR )... I see the margin rates ( not like I use a ton of leverage...however ) are like half of what I'm currently paying... Overall, are you happy with them?
  9. Met him a few times at The Hamilton airport. He was a class act. Very down to earth. RIP Walter
  10. Bill Gates always looks like his mind is in overdrive...man he is switched on. The best part is that he is putting that brain power towards the betterment of humanity.
  11. you are the analyst. Do your own projections. Know the company better than the "analyst". If you owned a Mc Donalds franchise and had to present to a bank for a loan, would you use anyone else's projections? Don't be too conservative or aggressive, just try to be as right as possible...make up for the error(s) which WILL happen by applying the margin of safety concept.
  12. it's good book - it's a collection of his letters to unit holders and articles from the FT. There is nothing new in the book, if you're already familiar with Smith. I found his book Accounting for Growth a better read if you are interested in learning about accounting shananigins. That's the book that got him fired when he was a banking analyst. I like his straight talking style.
  13. I own a small opening position on Qualys. Haven't had a chance to dig into the results, but I understand they announced that Courtot is taking a leave for health reason. Let's hope he is ok long-term.
  14. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/alex-rodriguez-files-raise-500-214527116.html maybe we need a Corner of B&F SPAC now! :o
  15. Calling all Canadians...who is the best online broker out there? Not necessarily the cheapest....but best overall?
  16. yes, yesterday they rejected 3 trades placed at 3:27pm.... not enough time to execute before close.... unbelievable. wait believable...Canada
  17. Anyone else having trouble executing trades at Canadian bank-owned brokers. I can't trade online, phone lines - 90 min wait, online chat service offline. Brutal. Typically Canadian. Maybe it's a sign of times. Trading volumes waaaay up. dunno. Ready to move to another "better" broker...
