jberkshire01 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Matt took some notes at Saturday's Pabrai Annual Meeting if anyone is interested: http://www.valueinvestingworld.com/2011/09/note-from-pabrai-funds-chicago-annual.html
claphands22 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Thanks for the post. Was "totally wrong on placeholders" Could anyone expand on this? Why did he say he was wrong? Does he now consider his least liked idea his "placeholder." Is cash now his placeholder? Interesting that he said this...had a discussion about the Pabrai placeholder idea with a friend a while ago.
oddballstocks Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Thanks! Very interesting read. I must buy similar companies to him, I have a Japan net-net basket and I'm finding a lot of value over in Europe.
rogermunibond Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Thanks to both of you for posting the meeting notes. Alex, you make mention in your notes about Pabrai's investment in alternative energy. Anything further on that one? It is the first time I have heard that he invested in that sector.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he means Berkshire in this instance. At some point, Mohnish viewed Berkshire as being "good as cash" in the event of a crash -- but in 2009, that wasn't true. So now, he just holds the cash.
