I do all that myself already, but my neighbor across the street (big maga family) has been doing a major set of renovations and add on's for the past year. They regularly have a crew of different brown people swinging hammers and such. I've talked to some of them recently (in Spanish), and they're apprehensive but feel like they're under his protection. He speaks no Spanish and doesn't understand a word of our conversations. The hypocrisy is lost on these guys.

They said to themselves “why is this mericoon bringing attention to us”.  He can’t help us only give us problems. He just wants to feel better about himself.  What does he really do for us? No es una buena cosa!

The guy across the street from you is putting his money where his mouth is.  I just had my place painted.  The head of the crew, a Guatemalan, and I are on friendly terms.  He showed me pictures of his town.  He’s looking forward to going back after he has made enough money here.  Instead of doing all that work yourself, hire and pay them.

Thanks Cubs, I have to resist responding when I see sanctimonious people point out supposed hypocrisy in others while missing their own.

It's not hypocrisy...just pointing out that you are going to have a harder and harder time getting good, cheap help...or you are finally going to have to pay fair prices for domestic legal help.  The reason the illegals are here is because the wealthy were willing to hire them for cheap when no one else would.  If you want to blame anyone for the huge influx of illegal immigrants...it probably starts with all of the people seeking cheap labor and paying cash under the table.  When I stayed at the Trump hotel in Chicago about 8 years ago...beautiful hotel with probably the best gym I've ever seen...but every single employee was a minority.  I wonder how many were illegal!  Cheers!

The OP doesn’t like his neighbor because he is MAGA.  He describes brown people (implying his neighbor is racist), and mentions that his neighbor cannot speak Spanish (like him).  The whining and sanctimony is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

 

We need an intelligent policy to settle this.  Eventually pressure in the labor market will hopefully force this.  And I don’t think that the OP should assume that his neighbor doesn’t desire the same outcome.  What he and just about every sane person doesn’t want is a completely undefended border with tens of millions of unvetted migrants pouring across the border.

I think most of us understand that - and it is just fine. I've employed many, and I always pay them more than the going rate. I have a problem with neighbors, etc - who take advantage of these people - and treat them as "cheap help". In fact, some of my own neighbors, who are quite well off - tell me - why do you pay them so much, you're going to spoil them and wreck if for the rest of us. I can't stand that attitude, rich people who want to screw the poor. It's disgusting 

 

Most of us know that wages will have to rise for the lower and middle classes - and that's a very good thing. Wall Street and others have had their day - now it's the working classes turn.  That's what MAGA is all about.
