ukvalueinvestment
If I had a wealthy father with wealthy friends to seed me, it certainly assist me in escaping the rat race, living the life I want to, and being a nice person that gives back to society. cubsfan
Regardless of who seeded him - his record is strong and he has done well for his shareholders. I actually really liked the book - since he reveals so many weakness others are not willing to reveal. If one was expecting an investment book - then you could be disappointed. But the message was very insightful to me - and I thought it was a great book about keeping your principles intact.
Vish_ram
I spent 2 hours reading major portions of the book in B&N. His honesty was refreshing. This is biography, psychology, investment wisdom/methodology, career advice all packed into one. My main take away was that, you try to be true to yourself and have the right perspective. I like the value mindset of reading in B&N. Agree, a truly deep book. Excellent synopsis. :)
bookie71
I really liked the book. It wasn't a how to book, but Mr. Spier's finding himself and learning to work off his strengths and protect himself from his weaknesses. How many people would admit to their mistakes and screw ups. Charlie
I really loved the book. :) A very good honest book. I liked the psychological stories about Wall Street during the Crisis and realized what an amazing advantage it is to live in a small, boring city. ;) I also liked the envy stories. Does anyone know Guy Spiers holdings?
bookie71
He only talks about his holdings after he sells, according to the book.
alwaysinvert
Well, he says he holds BRK in the book and pretty much that he won't sell. And he said he bought PKX recently. I don't know any other holdings.

I don't know any other holdings. I suspect that if you peruse the top 10 Berkshire holdings you will have a pretty good idea.
