Well my point was in my original post that it's not about deportations but about the cruelty. If it was about deportations than Obama would be a MAGA hero. Villify one group of people to blame for all of life's miseries; is just one example amongst a myriad that shows we're on that authoritarian march. In a way I respect the diehard MAGAs, more so than the independents/moderates/"literally not seriously" folks who split hairs and bend over backwards to intellectualize these actions all the while missing the forest for the trees. Not saying this towards you by any means. Appreciate the back and forth.

Deporting illegals is great Treating people inhumanely is awful Denying Constitutional rights (for illegals or for US citizens) is terrifying All of the above can be true all at once And yes there have been enough documented cases of the cruelty with a few minutes of research

I wonder how many in the cult know that? Not that they’d care. Their erection comes not from the deportations themselves but from the brutal and inhumane way the ICE gestapo treat people. The gestapo has finally started appearing in my city; will report back if I get slammed to the ground and taken into custody.

lol! I said you gotta make the best argument, not the worst

I've got a fun idea. You know how Charlie Munger said (paraphrasing) that in any argument you should be able to make the opposing point as good as your opponent? Perhaps we should switch sides for a day (or an hour), how fun would that be? Cubs and Greg making the TDS case, and LC, DooDiligence et al arguing for the cult!

Why is Trump deliberately rocking the world economy with these crazy back and forth tariffs? IMO he has no shot in 2028 if we are in a recession.
-
To the bolded part above - if we assume they’re rational actors (questionable), they’d want to bend over backwards to show that they won’t steal these companies again, for the sake of getting max value out of the IPOs. To me it’s crazy for there to be an IPO with the perpetual fear of theft. So they either guarantee to not steal the IPO shares, which means the JPS should get precedence. Or the perpetual theft threat remains and the IPO value gets cut in half. Of course this is all speculation but, if they’re gonna actually IPO, they’re gonna do the path of least resistance which is honor the JPS, IMO. But then again I’ve been waiting for 13 years…

True, but I suppose they can't go forever without paying common dividends - unless the common remain perpetually undervalued and they just buy back stock without dividends but what happens when it becomes fair or overvalued? You're right they can do this, but still in this scenario I'd say some of these Freddie prefs that are STILL 40 cents on the dollar would move up maybe to 70-80?

The US has a long history of propping up countries that are in its national interest. Argentina is no different. Helping the Millei government is a good thing for the world, and in countering China. Otherwise they keep getting bailed out by the IMF anyway, which is mostly funded by the US. Trump the dictator does a good thing yet again. Gotta give credit where it’s due!

To my surprise, she kept going: “It’s obvious the whole convo is off record. There’s disappearing messages and it’s on signal. What is your story? You never told me about a story.” What a clown show. But I guess you want them dumb and lazy as Buffett would say. https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/anna--lindsey-halligan-here

Can anyone paint me a scenario in which preferred holders get screwed but the IPO still goes through? Still selling for 40-60% of par depending on the breed. Seems like a no brainer if you assume that Trump will do what he wants here (IPO). Pretty much every other thing that he said he will do, has been done.

I feel that Trump can do something insane, like violently try to overthrow an election, and people would call him out and the cult would shout “TDS!!!”

Haha this is awesome

Hey if Trump was a Lee Kwon Yun I'd be all for him. Unfortunately he's more of a Hitler, totally agree with JD Vance on that. Glad you admit that he's a dictator though
-
Yea the non cult voters probably a mix of financial incentives and poor weighing of the risks - normalization of the fascist behavior. And also short term memory. By then it had been 4 years since Jan 6, so I guess people forgot how much of a tyrant he is? And of course you gotta blame Biden's idiotic policies towards business, student loans, immigration, sex change, mask mandates etc that swayed swing voters who failed to see the big picture. Totally agree with your second paragraph.

Well, 3 long years assuming there's an election in 28

Totalitarian Derangement Syndrome is not really a disease I'd say! But to your and @Sweet's point, we never Trumpers view it as the Buffett quote about a track record with a 0 at the end. No matter how good the good is, you times it by zero, and you're at nothing. Loving the tax cuts and nice to see them freeing FNMA. How's that for deranged? Sadly he's still a dictator.

My favorite quip from this article: Working behind the scenes with Pulte is Ed Martin, a Missouri lawyer whose vocal advocacy for the Jan. 6 rioters cost him the jobof the U.S. attorney in Washington. Trump appointed him to an even more powerful slot at Justice Department headquarters doubling as both a special prosecutor pursuing matters of interest to Trump, and the pardon attorney. He works from an office dubbed the “Freedom Suite” on one end of a hallway on the deputy attorney general’s fourth floor, which visitors have described as being decorated with oversize photos of Trump and a small cup of holy water on the wall. As bad as Trump is, the acolytes are pure cringe

Yes he is special alright. Here’s the autocrat doing more autocrat things https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/trump-calls-for-jailing-of-chicago-mayor-and-illinois-governor-03d2f173?st=GRkXm3&reflink=article_copyURL_share

So I went down the rabbit hole reading up on Trumps fascism and am curious to see how it will end… People blame GOP Congress people for not having a spine because most of them hate Trump behind closed doors. But can you blame them if they get death threats? Mitt Romney had to hire private security, obviously he is one of the few who can afford it. But perhaps the answer is getting everyone in Congress security protections which I think scotus judges get. Maybe trump can sign that into law! Haha https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/27/republicans-trump-threats

No, nothing new, but it just shows consistency. Obviously they've been talking about IPO for some time, there was that breaking news couple months ago that they're doing by year end. But now you have all the bankers meeting with the admin and fighting for lead left/right...it just further shows that Trump is serious this time. Best indicator is him posting an AI pic of himself ringing in the IPO on Truth Social.
