  1. Given it's the other side that seems to usually be the ones shooting up schools and public events maybe this isn't the hill to die on.
  2. Are you sure? Because it sure looked like random piss-ons, nobodies, etc, getting all drunk on ideology and media manufactured rhetoric, and then going off and getting violent towards folks whom disagree with them. I guess it's just what side of the cult youre on as to view. After all its not like you to generalize and name call.
  3. Are you referring to Jan 6th? Don't think those were leftists.
  4. The whole point of that is to ensure checks and balances so you dont get wannabe dictators running off and doing whatever they want. The Constitution was literally designed with that in mind and seeking consents. It doesnt require both parties it requires a Congressional vote. Given the GOP has a majority of both house and Senate the fact this wasn't even taken to a vote tells you Trump thought he would lose that vote.
  5. They use the other ones. None of the cables are critically vital in the region and the most affected players would be the middle Eastern countries. Not sure anyone else would care.
  6. Congrats @Saluki. It puts all the crap we do on here in perspective as to what's truly important. Enjoy every minute. It goes by quickly.
  7. What a joke. Im complaining about Trump because he is a horrible human being and an incompetent President who is doing long term damage to the country. I get to complain because this is America and I voted. You apparently didn't even vote and complain about everything. The fact that many people who did vote for Trump support what he is doing is exactly why I say they are in a cult!!! Because he is doing the opposite of what he promised when they voted for him -and yet they switch their beliefs to support Trump instead of supporting their own beliefs. Get as upset as you want about the bitching and moaning because as we head towards midterms it's only going to increase nationwide.
  8. Massive generalization (as usual). Nobody thought Kamala was the solution to wars and taxes (has a Democrat ever run on fiscal responsibility?). The problem is that Trumps entire campaign was built on the exact opposite of what he's doing (no wars, fiscal responsibility, lower prices, release epstein files). And while most of the country is pissed off about it - and showing it at the voting booth - you guys keep lapping it up and complaining about Kamala. Thats a cult.
  9. Its a true rabbit hole so be careful once you start. I got interested after reading an old magazine article about the troubles in the 1990's. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1993/09/20/the-deficit-millionaires That led to an interest in the history etc. Just finished Lloyds of London: A Reputation at Risk by Godfrey Hodgson which talks a lot about how the structure came together and some of the characters who shaped it. Then the Lloyds of London website is a trove of good info including the annual reports and a lot of the stats. There's also discussion on becoming a member and the Memeber Agents and what they specialize in. This was an especially helpful discussion/overview: https://www.lloyds.com/conning-report There are other books I've skimmed but are repetitive once you get the concept down.
  10. Thanks for that. The whole concept is really fascinating (as is the history). There is obviously a lot of money to be made (or lost) and a lot of expertise circling around that block that PE hasn't found a way to digitize, commoditize and take all the margin out of. But while the concept is fairly simple it's become a very complex organization with a lot of fingers in the pot. But the success speaks for itself.
  11. No. You were claiming that others on here were arguing for it despite nobody doing that. Once again making up a counterargument. Just like most of your posts seem to reference somebody who's an idiot or an asshole or a moron. Its like your point isn't valid without a counterpoint.
  12. So there is no article? Just like nobody on here other than you and Cubs claiming there will $200 oil? Why the need to make up counterarguments?
  13. Im atheist too - which is why it's so funny. I would bet that Hegseth didn't know it wasn't a direct Bible quote and thought Pulp Fiction was quoting an actual passage. All performative.
  14. When you put incompetent people in charge. Although taking on the Pope and Catholic Church while quoting Pulp Fiction thinking its the Bible seems par for the course here.
  15. So did Trump just unfreeze $20bn for Iran to get the exact same deal that Obama got for $2bn? And we spent about $50bn to get there? So much winning.
  16. They've changed the structure since the famous blow up days. It now has limited liability so youre capped on what you can lose.
  17. Nothing says "I'm in a cult" more than this post. He's literally doing the opposite of almost everything he campaigned on.
  18. You're not pricing anything, you are the capital. The managing agent of the syndicate makes the pricing and underwriting decisions. Most of these syndicates have been around for a hundred years and have excellent track records. And almost nobody who becomes a Name ever sells out. Its basically pledging existing invested assets to back insurance underwriting. You continue to get the earnings on the pledged assets and you also earn the underwriting and investment profits from the insurance. All as a silent partner.
  19. I dont think Kamala promised any of those things. The whole reason Trump got elected was because he DID promise them. And them delivered the exact opposite while his supporters clap and go "wonderful Dear Leader".
  20. This is how you know it's a cult. What Trump promised: - lower grocery prices - lower gas prices - fiscal responsibility and lower spending - no new wars - release the epstein files - end the war in Ukraine immediately And he's done the exact opposite of all of these. Yet the response is "that's what I voted for". Thats a cult.
  21. Well that's largely because as Buffett says "when youre in a hole the first thing you do is stop digging". It doesnt matter how pretty the other roads are when youre just trying to stop the car from driving into a wall. I'd note that for the recent election in Hungary, the platform for Magyar was entirely one of "we need to get this wannabe dictator out of power now, before our democracy gets destroyed". And he dominated. Sort of the same reaction going on here. Talking about education reform seems ridiculous when Trump is determined to undermine the constitution at every turn.
  22. Unless your syndicate insured London buildings against nuclear attack it would have zero impact on your Lloyd's underwriting. You dont put all your assets at risk - they wouldn't allow that - I'm talking about using a portion of your net worth (say 5-10%).
  23. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but this topic does get most of the insurance investors following.... I've been doing a lot of reading lately on Lloyd's (the London insurance organization). My wife looks at this stuff and just shakes her head as its the most boring thing she's ever seen, but I find it fascinating. Is anyone here a Lloyd's Name or have you participated directly or indirectly in any Lloyd's syndicate? Or as a broker? Would love to hear about the background and experience. Given that (from everything I've read) you dont need to put up cash, you just need to hold or pledge a dollar amount of liquid assets that can still be invested in other things, it's double dipping on income and can be quite lucrative.
  24. You mean like Putin. Or North Korea. Or Pakistan. Or China. Or Israel.
  25. When you pick Trump over the Pope you are truly in a cult of epic proportion.
